  1. I was like Miyagi. At 21 I also bought my house and rented it out. This was about 4 years ago. It appreciated over the first couple of years and I managed to buy a couple more. I sold one of these properties for 2.5 times what I bought it for in 1 year. Quite lucky indeed. At the age of 21 I had to decide to buy a car or save a bit more for a deposit. Chose the house and that has saved me many many years of working for peanuts. Saying all that, things are much different now and gains like in the past won't happen for awhile so it's not that bad if you decide to wait a few years. I would put the money in shares or some other investment and wait for the right time to buy a house. But if you are currently renting then I guess buying now will be more attractive.

Congratulations mate. The F6 ute looks very sexy.
  3. Good to hear Menace. I was also looking forward to getting my F6 as well. Just didn't like the feeling of not knowing for sure if it will deliver. I was quite happy with the the car when I test drove it but I guess that's not enough. When do you expect delivery?
  4. If that's the case, then MOTOR should remove those times from the back of the book. The foot note on those pages say that the times printed were the best achieved by MOTOR. So I guess the 5.73 time for the GT was a Ford supplied time and 6.3 is more realistic? So I'm assuming the GT and Typhoon are roughly the same over the 100km/h test. Maybe you can confirm with Mike.
  5. Yeah, I was like you XR6T. I was questioning if the 5.73 time was a time that MOTOR achieved or that Ford gave to them. One member from this forum said that the times were given by ford and I guess people took it as fact. 5.73 is there best time however the comparison with the ford xr6T in the magazine compared it to the best time of the XR6T which was 5.91. Most people here seem to use the 6.4 seconds to argue that the XR6T is faster. I don't know what is true so it was safer for me to cancel instead of wondering and gambling 60K.
  6. Yeah. When he said that he wouldn't be giving me a courtesy car the mood all changed and my temper took over and I told him that I won't go ahead at all. I didn't understand why they would agree to give me a courtesy car and decide to dishonour it because my finance approval took 3 weeks. They should of just changed the delivery date to 3 weeks later in the clause. I was going to be reasonable with him and suggest that he give me a courtesy car at a later date but with his response I wanted to just give him the flick.
  7. Vuster, what excuse did you use and how did the dealer react and what did he say? Id be interested in the price ill be able to get one for in 3-4 weeks. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> After I found out that FPV ceased production of the Typhoon last week, I immediately called my dealer for an update. I asked him when my car will come and he said that his computer was showing that my car was to be delivered mid Feb. I don't think he knew what he was talking about and I gave him a quick update about how Ford have ceased production and that the delivery expectation he was giving me was unrealistic. I then asked him when he would give me a courtesy vehicle because I put a clause on my contract. He said I won't be getting one because he told me over the phone previously that my finance approval took too long so he had to remove the clause. I argued with him because I had the contract which I signed with the clause on it. I got no where with him so I resorted to contacting the manager. I gave him a very bitter email in regards to the sales rep and the manager rang me and told me that he'll get an update from ford to see if he can get a courtesy car for me. In the end I just told him I want to save my headaches and cancel the order and he said that it worked out well because he managed to get another buyer to buy the car allocated to me. The manager was very reasonable. Have you tried talking to your dealer yet? Just stand your ground and tell them that you are not going to hand over the money because Ford are selling something that is not what they advertise. False and misleading conduct according to the Trade practices act. That's what I did. I also added the line that there are a few ford people at my company and I didn't want to tarnish their relations. good luck!
  8. I managed to cancel my order for the Typhoon today and get my full deposit back. The stress of not knowing if the Typhoon will deliver the goods to me was too much for me to handle. I thought to myself, I should be looking forward to getting my car not spend most of the time trying to defend what I was buying and trying to convince myself that I'll be happy with it. The best thing I thought that I could do is just wait and see how the F6's are once Ford have had their chance fixing the clutch etc. If I still want the car then I can order it later. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulder and I can now actually enjoy reading the posts on this forum without being so emotional.
  9. For a minute I thought you were going to type "Can't understand why he bought a ferrari though, when he could have bought a Ford GT.
  10. Although his C'MONS annoy the sh*t out of me, you must say they are good for psycing out his opponents, if him doing that is bothering them and putting them off their game then that's just aother tool to help win, they are the elite in that sport and someone yelling out to gee themselves up shouldnt bother them. But it sure annoys me. Dazza p.s. Maybe he is yelling them at Bec Cartwright, as in. "CMON, please touch my willy." <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. The commons help him to win but at the expense of his integrity. I remember a year or 2 ago Hewitt was playing against some other guy and Hewit was losing but managed to pick up his game and was close to catching up and winning. The other player then faked a injury at the worst possible time in the match. Hewit and the Austrlalian people got really pissed off and Hewitt ended up losing. It was all over the news. Now Hewit is in the same boat as he resorts to this sort of mischief in his own way.
  11. No I haven't driven one yet, no intention of buying one so don't need to drive one. Seat of the pants feeling or hand held stop watches are innaccurate at best and is what I would need to use to measure the accelleration and power of an F6 if I did drive one. I don't have all the testing equipment (worth many thousand $$) that motoring magazines have (a G-Tech is a cheaper alternative of course but I don't have one of them either). So you are saying every magazine and newspaper are wrong and the people testing can't drive? I would be happy to stand corrected if you could provide me with some proof that the F6 is the weapon you claim it to be. Proof would be a dyno sheet or 1/4 mile dragstrip time card or even a lap time from Oran Park or similar race track would suffice. Doesn't even have to be your F6, can be anybody's stock one. Of course I base my comments on magazine articles, what facts are you basing your comments on? "I own one and it feels quicker than car X and car Y" isn't accurate. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This thread has turned into a QikSmurf vs X. As much as I enjoy seeing people getting flamed it is doing no good for the image of Ford fanatics. Get over all this b**ching and stay to the topic. I know that if I was a HSV or rice lover I would log onto this site to have a good laugh. Falchoon don't be so confident that the xR6T is faster than the Typhoon. MOTOR have issued 2 times to date. Dec 2004 5.73 Feb 2005 6.4 Feb 2005 back of magazine has 5.73 Why do people use the 6.4 as the bench mark for the performance and just ignore the 5.73 figure? Because MOTOR didn't do the test for it? However MOTOR says that times in the back of the magazine are the best THEY have achieved. I don't know which sources said that the times were not done by MOTOR. Someone can clear this. Also the wheels magazine is the only other magazine that I know that has done the test on the Typhoon. 6.3 seconds against HSV 6 seconds is much better than MOTOR's contrasting article which compares the 2 cars. From my understanding wheels is more conservative with their times so I can expect MOTOR to do better than that in their future Typhoon tests. APS is respected with their knowledge on tuning performance cars but when Peter Luxon says "I expect better times when the F6 does more kms" people just ignore that fact. "All articles have shown F6 to be slower". Which articles? Articles that are based on Wheels and MOTOR timings? I've read every article on the F6 and I've come to the conclusion that the Hypothesis that the F6 is slower than the XR6T is lacking test data. Your conclusion of the F6 being slower than the Typhoon is based on MOTOR Feb 2005 and Wheels DEC 2004 magazine. I'm sure there are XR6T owners that are very rational in their reasoning however there are others who just take whatever points that are printed in articles that they choose and come to the conclusion that glorifies their car. Sure I agree that FPV has not done enough and can understand people being pissed off about it, but when I hear people say that the F6 is a slug and it is slower than the Typhoon based on a couple of magazines, I don't understand. Most people on this Forum own XR6T and they are quite pricy so I expect that there are a lot of middle aged educated professionals that log on and have their say. And being so I'd expect to see more reasoning and open mindness when it comes to these topics.
  12. Good to hear you are happy once again Doc. Hope FPV fix your grey ghost so you can maintain your happiness.
  13. Well at least that can admit that. Hope they finally fix this performance problem whilst they have all the F6's off the road. MyF6, that's the worst news I've heard of the Typhoon to date.
  14. Settle down QuikSmurf. FPV are doing something good at the moment. I.e. They are finally fixes the clutch in which we all knew there was a problem with. You sound like you're doing a back flip. I would be happy to drive the GT in the mean time whilst waiting for the Typhoon to be returned. You have the best of both worlds.
  15. stang, I can see your points. Most people are frustrated that the typhoon is not as quick as it should be. You may not be bagging the F6 in your post but there have been a few posts from certain members that litterally bag the typhoon. Comments like "The typhoon is a slug" is quite a bit of an exageration and is one example. We all agree that the Typhoon is not superfast and what marketing let us to believe, but we should just accept the fact and move on and talk more positively about the car. As a future typhoon owner I want to click on the "Typhoon" link on this site and read some informative information about the car and it's potential. I.e. it's modification responsiveness and results. I'm sure potential customers now know that the Typhoon is not as quick as it should so there's no point reiterating it's downfalls 100 times because it doesn't do any justice for current/future F6 owners. F6 owners are passionate about there cars and the last thing they want to hear is a broken record being played over and over again.
  16. I don't like Hewitt however when he plays I want him to win. Not for himself but for Australia. Doesn't matter who is playing unless it's Pauline Hanson, then I will want them to win. He's Common's are pathetic. Who is he yelling that too? The other player after he stuffs up? Sure he's a great player but a great sportsmen? What's the definition of a great sportsman? Someone who wins a lot but is an as*hole in the process of doing so? When Hewitt starts losing his touch, then the Australia people won't find it hard to forget him. That's my 2 cents worth. Go Alicia Molik!
  17. The way I justify my purchase of the Typhoon is the following: 1)I have enough funds to allocate to the typhoon. 2)If I was to buy a XR6T I would of optioned it up so price will be in 50's. 3)The bodykit 4)The exclusiveness. More heads will turn. 5)I don't have to worry about insurance as company charges me the same. 6)There are no alternatives. HSV's don't look as good unless it's the GTO but I can't afford that. 7)XR6T is getting a bit common. 8)If I find I'm not happy with the performance then I can wack some mods on. ... and most importantly it's an FPV. I would pay extra to have that badge and to have that exclusiveness that comes with the name. It's like when girls go shopping for clothes. A Gucci bag is nearly identical to one of another brand but they seem to compromise and fork out the extra dosh to obtain the image that comes with Gucci. Sure there are other girls that think it's a waste of cash. Everyone here is different.
  18. Stang, to me the proof is yet to be in the pudding. Until people start testing the 2005 typhoon against a 2005 XR6T on the same day at the same time, I will not believe that a stock xr6T is faster than a stock typhoon. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> take a stock typhoon down the quarter... plenty of stok xr6T have been down the quarter already.... if the typhoon pulls a quicker quarter mile its faster... simple as that... I think it will be neck and neck and the xr6T will stand proud next to the F6 down the quarter... it will definately not be put to shame by its supposed big brother...even if it is run down the quarter on the same day and same time as you suggested... If I was the F6 driver I would be more worried that my pride joy could get done by its suposeddly slower little brother none the less the F6 is sweet <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There are thousands of XR6T owners compared to the couple of hundred Typhoon owners. All time comparisons to date have been between the 'Best' times achieved for the XR6T and also the Typhoon. It's hardly fair to make the assumption that the XR6T is faster than the Typhoon based on this fact because there has been lack of test runs done by Typhoons. I've also read that the earlier build XR6T may be faster than later models due to different flash used. I.e. Ford detuning the XR6T to make warranty issues easier. Just what I've read somewhere on this forum. Maybe true but maybe false, I don't know. That's why I suggested that a test should compare a Mk2 2005 XR6T and a 2005 Typhoon. As a buyer, I'm interested in times for the cars I'm actually going to buy. Not interested in buying a 2002 XR6T that MOTOR tested on a 40 degree day which achieved a 5.9 0-100km/h run. I don't expect the Typhoon to be faster than a XR6T as figures have indicated that the Typhoon is not whopping fast. However it is not safe to say that the XR6T is faster than a Typhoon based on a 'few' test runs.
  19. Stang, to me the proof is yet to be in the pudding. Until people start testing the 2005 typhoon against a 2005 XR6T on the same day at the same time, I will not believe that a stock xr6T is faster than a stock typhoon.
  20. Qiksmurf, good post of your personal experience with the phoon. Maybe the Typhoon feels as though you need more effort to drive it because you are comparing it with an automatic T. Anyways hope you continue enjoying your drive. I'm looking forward to a F6 cruise when I get mine.
  21. Has anyone run any 0-100 and 1/4 mile times on their XR6T when they first purchased it and also when they have clocked up a fair few kms? What were the figures? I want to have a idea as to how faster a typhoon will be once it's been well run in.
  22. I find this a little hard to believe that you were thinking that when you ordered your F6. How did you come to the conclusion that it was going to be slower than your TS? The F6 is supposed to have 20 more kw, and 50 more Nm of torque. They weigh roughly the same. If anything, the F6 would be lighter. So how did you 'damn well know' it was going to be slower? The T3 is no slug, I know. But everyone was expecting mid 13 second times from the F6... EVERYONE. And we all know a T3 won't manage a mid 13 stock. Sorry, but just sounds like a futile effort to defend your buying decision? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My ts 50 ran a 14.1 at the 1/4 mile and all the things I read about the typhoon 1/4 mile was going to be about 14.5 my ts 50 has 210rwkw my typhoon had 200.6 end of stories Hilly <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 210rwkw for the TS50 sounds right - a manual I'm guessing. From an engine that develops 250kw@5250rpm and 500Nm@4250rpm. Quarter time=14.1 secs. Check. 200rwkw for the Typhoon, also manual. From an engine that develops 270kw@5250rpm and 550Nm from 2500rpm to 4000rpm. Quarter time=14.5secs. Hmmm, those figures don't add up to me ... It looks to me like Ford are grossly overstating the output of the Typhoon engine. And you KNEW this before buying the Typhoon??? I wouldn't have bought a $60,000 car knowing that Ford have overstated the engine performance by 12.5%. But hey, as long as you're happy <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And with 300rwkw and fantastic bodykit who wouldn't be happY?
  23. true <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Another Crap post as posted above the difference is ony 27kw's BIG TIME=???????????The F6 was advertised and sold as a 270 if you want 500 buy a Porche Get Real If you dislike it so much Change youre Nic from Typhoon to somethinmg you do like. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Transfer the "TYPHOON" nick to me. I'll appreciate it.
  24. Glad you got that off your chest F6Tornado. I have the same feelings as you in regards to this.
  25. Hope FPV have been reading all this bad publicity and miraculously decide to crank up the speed of the F6 on the Feb builds. What's the chances of that happening?
