  1. No the test was'nt that recent, it may have been nearly 12 months ago. From memory there was : Ford Territory 4L petrol Prado 4l petrol and 3L diesel Pathfinder 4L petrol and 2.5 diesel Disco 3 V8 and 2.7 diesel All the Jap utes Hyundai Terracan 3.5L petrol and diesel Kia sorento 3.5L petrol Jeep cherokee 3'7 petrol There were others but I forget now! they set the throttle to go 100kph along the flat pulling a caravan, then continued up a long hill without adding any throttle. The result was that the Territory was the only one that held its speed, most of the others dropped to about 80kph or less. Add a turbo to that and ............just too easy. I could tow my boat (1500kg) with my T and still beat everyone at the lights with ease.
  2. Yes, with the Edit (or Ford Flash tuner) you just plug it in under the dash and choose between factory setting or up to 3 more tunes, only takes about 2-3 minutes to download, and away you go!
  3. I agree that TT's make an excellent tow package, and power will never be a problem, but when towing I would only run in factory tune, otherwise you would be constantly running a high torque figure through the transmission and whole drivetrain. A recent tow test in a 4wd mag, tested every 4wd with heavy towing and the only one that was able to retain the same speed up hills was a Territory, and that wasn't even a turbo, the Disco 3 came second.
  4. Apology accepted M!nty, I think the frustration of losing Barry has made me a grumpy ole fart I have had a lot of pressure from relo's and friends over the years about having a nice expensive car that just sits in the garage with a cover over it, and in reality they are probably right, I work 6 long days a week and usually spend the 7th running around in the ole sh!it box Landrover. The missus will be retiring from work next month and it was pointless having 3 cars sitting around her. She wont part with her car (SP23) because she only drives small automatics. The CX9 is an expensive car too, but I intend to drive it everywhere and use it for everything, the TTG could have fulfilled my needs but I wanted as much room as I could get without resorting to a Landcruiser type vehicle where the handling becomes rolly polly soggy. In a few years, when the kids have stopped draining me and moved out (21 and 24) and when I'm finished with the boat, I intend to cut back to one car, which will probably be mid sized , automatic, and very quick, I dont know what that will be, but I can guarentee I will look at the Fords first, Mazda second and maybe even Subaru, but no other brands interest me at this stage.
  5. Slow? maybe, but I would'nt say fugly. Is that the best you can do for your very first post? And it took 2 weeks to spit that out! So what do you drive lolly?
  6. I think what he's saying is, if it was'nt for the turbo thingy hangin off the side, he would go the Mazda. And I reckon that's a very fair and honest opinion, which I agree with. I have no doubts I will miss the hair dryer, but I will suvive until my next upgrade, and who knows what that may be? Twin Turbo V6 Terry? CX9 twin turbo V8 diesel? Time will tell.LOL I'll never be far away from Fords.
  7. CX9 Luxury , T20 tint, towbar, Bluetooth, cx9 mats. Dark Blue with Sand / charcoal Leather. I have no qualms about the TT, but as a 7 seater the CX9 is roomier. I'll just be on my way now.
  8. First Ill just zip up my flame suit.........OK,three words............. ZOOM! ZOOM! ZOOM! Full marks to ZAP Seriously though, I was sitting on the fence for a while and although the TTG can blow the arse off my Mazda, the CX9 pretty much shined in every other area Interior finish and features would give any European a run for its money, and it has so much more room than its competitors. On the bright side (if there is one) Ford still own 30% of Mazda and this rig comes with the same Ford 3.7V6 Duratec engine that the Falcon and Terry's will run in 2010. Really it was a matter of what suited my needs and I like the extra room Ps. Is it OK if I still visit for a sh!t stir now and then
  9. Strike one : I would NEVER buy a Expensive Daewoo ( I maybe disloyal but not to that extent) Strike two : I find Toyotas boring ,reliable but god damn ugly. Strike three : Was very keen on the TTG for its outright power advantage but even with my blue blood , I felt it was outclassed.
  10. Ok, just watch this space its coming real soon and you all aint gonna like it! I'll probably be banned from the site
  11. The Duratec 35 V6 has already been upgraded to 3.7L and is already over here in the Mazda CX9, in NA configuration it develops 204kw, lacks low end torque but cuts lose higher in the revs and will easily reach 7000rpm.
  12. Well I have the money ready, but would like to sell Barry first so I can trade the Disco in. I have a few locals at work nibling
  13. OK, we heard you the first time Redline eh? well its like this, if you go over 6000rpm the rev limiter will cut in and put you through the windscreen, all in good fun of coarse! Oh and welcome to the mad house
  14. It gives me no pleasure in writing this post about our friend Dave, known to most of us as "obsession". On Friday night (4/1/08) the floodwaters rose at Dave's place and floated away all his vehicles including his much beloved "obsession". Sure his car was insured, but he loved that colour and it can't be replaced as they no longer have it as an option. The car was washed out of its carport and found further down the paddock full of mud, a write off they say. I'll leave the finer details for Dave, when he's got time after his big clean up.
  15. Yeh, I was forgetting about on road costs, they must have a good margin eh? Sounds good for the dear ole customer anyways. If one could sell there cars privately, would be best for all I guess. I might just get to work on that.
  16. Car was sold next day to someone else.............hmmm I smell something fishy....... been looking back at the TTG and so far I can get 4-5g off retail
  17. The normal sales card on the window said $28,500, but beside that was a big poster with..... "Reduced to $22,500 pus $500 cashback", salesman was talking 22 g to me for last 3 days, I think Tab is right, a scam that backfired. My mate is going in for a price today, and coax em along a bit, make a few promises and walk out LOL. So what now? Might go back to plan "A"...........soooo whats the best price seen on a TTG hmmmm?
  18. Looks like its NO DEAL! Went in today to sign up and hand over the money, salesmen goes in to get approval from sales manager (local Toyota Dealership), then comes back and tells me the price on the Explorer is a mistake, and that it is actually now $6500 dearer than what is written on the car So I say go get F.....ked and walk out. This is the second time I've walked out from these clowns at SURF TOYOTA, Tweed Heads.
  19. Same as this only with Alloy front bumper and nudge bar!
  20. Well the story now goes like this, I have had a slight change of heart , due to the fact I feel reluctant to pass with my perfectly good T for a measley $23,000 trade. Yeh, I know that is all it is worth, but it is in mint condition with 23,000km on it and is still fun to drive. It means I would lose the T and the Discovery and still have to fork out about $35,000 more. On the good side, I have come across what I think is a value plus deal on a 2003 FORD Explorer 4.6 V8 Limited with only 70,000 km on it for $22,000. This way I keep the T and just trade the of the Landrover for about $16,000 changeover, with 12mths rego and warranty. I took this wagon for a test drive and was quite impressed as it drove like new. Feel free to tell me if theres anything real bad I should know about the Explorer, its just mainly for towing the boat.
  21. Needs the sun on them to see them properly in a photo, but other than that I would say...... VERY, VERY, NICE!
  22. Glad to see you all had a good day and the weather held It's such a shame there was no Blueprint there to make the perfect picture, its kind of like having a wedding with out the bride
  23. No other cards yet? Wheres the luv? Wheres the Christmas spirit?
