  3. My money is on Frosty this year! I also think Courtney will perform better and more consistant this time around.
  4. Well now that the dust has settled, and as expected, "Barry" HAS been officially written off by the insurance company, the young fella involved happen to get talking with my son at work, and on the quiet he has been telling him the REAL story. Surprise, surprise! there was no fox, and before taking the left hand curve there was a slight turn to the right where he was going to fast and started to get the tail out, he then over corrected and spun the car 180degrees plus to the left and hit the left hand bank in reverse, Basically that flippedd it onto the bonnet where it still had enough speed to drag on down the road a fair bit. When all came to a rest he said he was in panic mode because he couldnt get the door open enough to get out, but after kicking the crapp out of the door card, he eventually got it open. Its interesting how the car balanced on the bonnet and screen, yet never hardly touched the cabin area, roof or doors, all damage was front and rear. Thanks for your eulogy Al. We shall remember "Barry" at his best.
  5. Definately 30-35, there aint no lookin back brother, its all ahead of you ha ha!
  6. I'm certainly not knocking the "P" platers at all, in fact I know plenty of them that are not even slightly interested in speeding or racing, because they can see the BIG picture. However its quite ironic that we had 2 absolute lunatics at work, and they both wrote off there cars in the last 2 weeks only 300m apart. The other was a young bloke with an SS Commodore, who was given his marching orders due to burnouts etc when leaving work. His response to being laid off was a nice big burnout up the road and 2 km later he was taking off from a stop sign (just pass where Barry was rolled) and fishtailed the SS up the road where he lost control and hit a large concrete power pole. This guy was regarded by his mates as the local "driftking"..................not any more! I certainly was no angel when I was young, and was always getting booked for speeding, however, I think the difference was that I only had a 1300 Escort, so I obviously was'nt into burnouts nor did I have enough power to get into too much trouble. Maybe we could start a confessions topic.........What did YOU do stupid when YOU were young? Now that could be interesting Ha ha!
  7. The car was only running in Factory tune, the young fella involved had paid half the money for my flash box with custom tunes and was telling me that same day that he would have the rest of the money the next morning. After discovering that he had only 3 weeks left to get off his "Ps", I then told him he would be better off waiting a few weeks and driving sedately for atleast that period, he agreed and said he was going to take it slow for a while. 4 hours later, a straight road with only one curve around a small hill and he's spun backwards into the bank and flipped onto the bonnett, with the quad exhaust being rammed up front of the diff. It also must have slid a fairway upside down as it wore through the bonnett and the rocker cover. According to the young driver, he was not speeding but swerved to miss a fox, and was booked for negligence. That said, he failed to negotiate a corner that could easily be taken at 140kph in my Hilux ute. (just to indicate its sharpness) This accident happenned at Murwillumbah (back road to Condong sugar mill) Clarke
  8. For those who remember "Barry" Barry has been parked up for the last 6 months because the "P" driver who bought it only lasted two weeks before losing his license. Two weeks ago the said driver got his license back and started driving Barry again. On Wednesday 15th Oct he only had a 5km trip from work to home and this is the result .......... Barry was an 03 with only 26,000km on the clock in mint condition.....goodbye mate!
  9. Go the Nitro, anything that looks like Blueprint HAS to be good!
  10. Supposed to be a 36 lap race and they spent the first 11 laps behind a safety car I cant say the scenery around the track looks that great either, like an old abandoned industrial estate, certainly nothing like Surfers Paradise. I bet Todd and Rick go out and celebrate tonight, after he helped his little brother get the lead in the championship, its not how you win with those two. Whincup was on a flying lap, and Todd knew he was there, I think Jamie should have made him a visit with a 14lb sledge hammer. Expensive Daewoo DRIVERS: Once a cheat.....always a cheat! I feel better now, thanks!
  11. Read Aprils issue of "Wheels" mag, Ford Territory (4.0L I6) Vs Mazda CX9 (3.7L V6) Vs Subaru Tribeca (3.5L Flat 6) Carrying similar weight (2080kg) the CX9 3.7V6 Duratec was the quickest and yet the highest geared by far. 180kph = 3000rpm Not bad for a lack of torque,eh! I own one and they have an awsome free revving growl. This motor in a lighter car with a couple of turbos would be dynamite!
  12. And 5 doors are better than 4
  13. FPR seem to have a Lowndes revenge thing happening, there not doing Ford any favours Courtney has developed a " I own the track " attitude, whch is not doing hjmself any favours, in fact his young team mate is floggin the arse off him
  14. I've been talking to Dave (obsession) and the good news is that the Insurance Company has now paid him out in full. But the bad news is.................. He's gonna buy a Hilux turbo diesel 4x4
  15. Just got back from Adelaide, had a great time at the Clipsal , but it was certainly dampened by the loss of Ashley......RIP dear fellow, our thoughts are with your family and friends. Clarke
  16. Grab the nipple on the end of the cable with a pair of pliers and pull hard!
  17. Its nice having 20's straight from the factory, no issues :banghead: Zoom zoom zoom!
  18. Went to Brissy motor show today and had a look at the FX-6. Just at the base of the side window sills is a chrome strip which appeared to have clear plastic protective strip still on it. So I gave a little rub with my finger nail to see if it was plastic and the chrome peeled off like alfoil, I couldn't believe my eyes. I realize now why I went the zoom zoom way.
  19. Lime green splitters?????......
  20. L plates at 24 years of age, ..........hmmm I'd say this guy has had trouble before Click here
  21. Just put some sheep on the finish line and he'll be the first one there for sure Seriously though, I wouldn't underestimate him at all, given a couple of years of SBR training and they could have a winner!
  22. And how much a liter is diesel? And the price of a Q7 is WHAT? If your gonna fork out those sort of $$$$ you may as well just get a Kenworth prime mover
  23. Front cover of that book says 290 for the XR8
  24. Im sure the new Landcruiser 200 series with the 4.5L V8Turbo diesel 195kw and about 650nm torque) would pull like a train and tow with ease, my mate from work just bought one, its just the basic GXL and it cost close to $90,000 and he already claims it is not as comfortable to drive as hisold 100 series. So 90G later and you still end up with a big barge arse that handles like a truck. Not to mention the price of diesel lately? Dont get me wrong, Cruisers are great if your into offroading, but on road the TT is in a different league, they almost handle as good as a CX9 ( couldnt help myself LOL)
  25. Best Wishes for the future Ian, hope you stay in touch , would like to know what area you have gone to? Clarke
