  1. As can be seeen Its hard to answer your question specifically due to so many variables. But these cars have gone on with a lot more Ks and been fine without over the top expenses then again there are those that haven't. For the model you are looking at you wont need to fork out big bucks. If that's all you can afford go for it but try and keep something in reserve. Where else are you going to get a performance car like this for the amount u r forking out. As others have stated get it checked thoroughly it sworth the investment.
  2. Have to agree with others ...looks good but nothing revolutionary was expecting a more radical change.
  3. Hey Muzza that sucks man. I know your exhaust is stock with no mods and you get a defect notice ???? Now every Turbo has to go and get their exhaust modified He obviously did not like you mate.
  4. I think you did the right thing here mate. You would have never been able to live it down if you were unhappy with the vehicle.
  5. I am on the hunt for a good driveline specialist and was wondering if anyone out there can recommend one. My dealer has done as much as he can to reduce my "backlash clunk", without much success , and I am now looking at some else who can fix it. Any recommendations appreciated, I feel there is a huge market for this with the XR's.
  6. Ford's warranty is nationwide. I dont think it matters what dealer you end up going to, that why you choose a dealer to do the repairs. Muzzzza- what can I say !!!!! If your not going to get good service you may have to LOOK ELSEWHERE . They make money from warranty work and if you deprive them of this that's where it hurts. Alternatively you should be appropriately compensated ...a Ford Racing jacket would be a lot better than a keyring.
  7. I agree it is a Ford thing. How you accept to many noises for a $70000 car is beyond me, I wish I was that tolerant but then again if it saves you going insane . Whats happens when you try to sell it and the potential buyer asks what the noises are and you say 'you get that with a Ford'...yeh right..see you later. I thinks this is one of the major concerns for owners who have this problem. Ford's appararent lack of concern and acceptance of this problem in the majority of cases is what is really hurts. Also it DOES hurt their sales. I for one would find it extremely hard to purchase a Ford again and have already talked 2 people out of buying one. I disagree it will never go away, if we make enough noise they will have to investigate it and rectify it . We are also trying to show " "Near Enough Is NOT Good Enough" we want to be proud of our Aussie cars. I believe, from reading posts on this site, and the actions of the people here Ford are looking into it and hopefully series 2 will not have this problem.
  8. Jetute... hope it works out for you mate I really do. Not sure if your problem is identical to mine which is "backlash clunk" . I do not want to dampen your enthusiasm but I am on my third transmission and the clunk got worse. The transmission was replaced due to flaring though, not clunk. JIMBO>
  9. Tail shaft replaced Drive shafts replaced twice PCM upgraded to improve gear shift and still CLUNK Going back in on Friday . Now the question ..should I have the diff replaced???? God help me if it got worse like others after having it replaced. keep me informed guys. I also have a mate with the same problems who would probably be interested in a combined action. "I ended up hating something I loved"
  10. Good luck , hope it works for you . Something major has to be done to get this problem rectified . If you can get a current affairs show to get interested something may happen, otherwise, no offence, it could all be just hot air. Ford have just got to stop treating their customers like fools.

    Plexis fabric

Hi, does anyone know where I can purchase Plexis fabric in SYDNEY?? I want to get some seat covers made up and can't get a hold of the fabric in Sydney.
  12. Welcome 'Elvis', I have an auto and I have the clunk. BTW I have taken mine back to the dealer and the latest is the drive shaft and tail shafts will need to be replaced (2nd time for the tail shafts), booked in early next week. Fingers crossed !!!! Interesting how others are getting the diff replaced and it ends up worse, the actual problem maybe in the drivetrain???? Good Luck I hope u get a good one.
  13. Where do I send the $10.
  14. I believe the diffs are made by BTR. If my info. is correct BTR has been taken over by an American company which I think is called Spicers, who apparently are quite good in the diff dept., and they are moving premises.
  15. Wow ... what a situation to be in.. if I get it repaired I could be worse off !!If I wait for a proper fix I could wait forever AAAAGGGHHHH. bcr01.. I can understand you wanting to take it to a diff specialist..but then you bear the cost, dont you think you have paid enough !!
  16. Yes exactly , but it is does not occur all the time . The MAIN time it would occur would be at very low speeds (in traffic) or as I stated at speeds above 80 or when you are going up a hill. ZapXR6T: thanks Mate, I hear where your coming from and one thing I hate is being treated like an idiot . I hope I do not have to wait for a fix forever though, I cant stand it any longer. I am still interested to know if the term is used within the automotive industry though or it was just made up for me.
  17. ZapXrt, I do read and follow the threads but I have never seen this term used so I was at a loss as to this term. Interesting you say "ask them to put it in writing, because if they do they are screwed." Why do you say that ?? I have it in writing!!! They will only contemplate repairing it if it gets worse . I was also told it may be get worse if they replaced the diff. Then what !!! I am also very interested to see if the opinion here is "it is NOT a charactersitic of the vehicle" , cause its one BAD characteristic.
  18. I have an annoying clunk coming from the rear of the vehicle, very evident on accelaration and de-accelaration at speeds over 80k,I was advised it was "backlash clunk" by the dealer. I was also told it was a characteristic of the vehicle and would not be repaired under warranty . Has anyone heard of this term ??? What is your opinions, should it be repaired under warranty?? It is very annoying. (I am being polite here) BTW I was advised it was definately NOT driveline shunt.
  19. I agree, I agree, I agree.....
  20. [JIMBO, whats with your diff and what is the latest update on a fix. curious as I have a clunk ] Jetute, yes I have the clunk. Latest fix the PCM (Powertrain Control module) can be updated with the latest software. It is designed to improve gearshift quality and reduce the driveline clunk. Am booking in mine to get done and will advise outcome. JIMBO.
  21. driveline shunt also heard but was told is normal.
  22. JB, why was the diff changed ? I have a problem with mine and was advised that replacing the diff. can in fact make it worse. I was sceptical but upon hearing you it could be true. If your problem is the same as mine I can tell you the latest update on rectifying the problem. Jimbo
  23. Try the mandatory wheel balance/rotation and see how it goes, if there is a problem with the rims it should be picked up then. Based on what you say though "seems to come from the rear and at 100-120ks" you may require the tail shaft balance. jimbo

    Why Me

So "lion" you see your not alone. With regard to the stall problem that should be fixed relatively easily. You'll see from other posts on this forum that it is happening to others as well. Just had a friend at work who has just had the problem fixed by the dealer just by reprogramming the computer. BTW "chief", I have just been advised I would have to wait at least a further 2 weeks to get my balance. All up 8 weeks to get a repair...

    Why Me

Welcome to the club lion, you are not alone and I ask the same question.."why me". I'm on my 3rd tranny and have been waiting for 6weeks to get my tail shaft balanced. Why 6 weeks so far, as the dealers tell me they only have one machine is Sydney to balance the tailshaft. All you can do is ensure the dealers fix it. If you are ever unhappy about anything you can always apply to Fair Trading for a resolution. Believe me I'm heading that way soon. If your thinking about getting the number plate LEMON forget it I'm on the queue b4 u.
