Hey people, Im after a decent looking XR6T cap. Im sure ive seen other styles other than the one available on the Ford website:- http://www.ford.com.au/merchandise/images/...00037_large.jpg I probably buy the one on the website I mean is ok and ill probably eventually also get the fordxr6turbo forums cap also, but what ill really after is one that doesn't have 240 kw writen on it (nothing against you people that have a stock xr6t). (Maybe some of you modded XR6T drivers may understand where im comming from ) Any help, websites, merchandise dealers that may have old stock etc would be much appreciated. Thanks, Ford Grunt. (ill wait to see how many peoples posts before someone suggests to unpick the 240kw )

Ive recently became a ute owner. Was original hunting for a modded ute but this one came up and was too good to let go. Looks like a fairly basic Mercury Silver workmans ute complete with toolboxes. Lift the bonnet and it tells a different story. Car is an auto has been blue printed and balanced with forged rods & pistons, basically a APS phase 3 kit, larger intercooler, K&N filter, strengthen drive train, auto has 2700rpm stall, 4 inch exhaust, plumb back BOV. And is apparently runing a fairly conservative 13 1/2 PSI boost. Also has 18" factory rims, leather trim, 6 stacker, tool box behind the seat, and custom tool box with racks and modified soft cover. Full story.. here: http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/index.ph...topic=17275&hl= Best car ive every owned. Can't get enough of this!

Nice ride mate, agree debadged looks the goods

Ive always thought it was a kick back to the first real Ford Falcon performance car the "XR" GT. Meaning that the car would have performance origins dating back to he XR. A cue that Ford wanted to to insert after the boring no v8 days of XF-to EA. (But hey I could be totally off the mark or could be shear coincidence).

What a machine, nice work. Get her run in and on that track ps what are those rims they look great would mind getting myself a set.

Noticed the same thing when looking for my XR6T ute (which I finally found). A quick search on carsales shows. I reakon anything 2003 is a real bargain at the moment, 2004 plates are still holding strong. You can get you hands on loaded up (with options not bricks ) ute for around 33k sedans around the same.

Insurance the necessary evil. Insurance stopped me buying a 351 XE (Ghia front) ute once, when I was about 19. It aint doing it again. Tried the following today:- Suncorp Metway - quoted $1700 & would list my wife. but no salvage rights, so its no good for my needs, as I want first option for salvage rights Famous Insurance - not really interested in insuring utes (don't figure). Prestige Insurance - will do under 25s but don't insure utes? Dawes Insurance - do modifieds & under 25s but wont accept that it would be parked in public car park during workhours ?WTF doesnt just about anyone park in commercial car stations in the city? Torque Underwriting - no under 25s Unique Car Insurance - dont do XR6 or XR8 ?WTF Just Cars - Only quote so far that meets my needs, quoted $2,000, also when I asked about salvage rights they said they can't guarantee it in your policy but said most times you can negiate with the assessor to get first option. Young & Cool - weren't very helpful, asked if I tried others when said Just Cars said they wouldn't be beat it. Looks like its Just Cars for me, unless the broker can think of someone, just as turb06 suggested to go with Just Cars, I will probably bite the bullet for a couple of years until the wife is 25 /me thinks. Based on my experience today & yesterday. I don't know what all you under 25 year olds with modifieds are doing for insurance. You must all be with Just Cars or Suncorp Metway is seems.

Hey people, I want some urgent help. I am buying a XR6T ute which has had an APS upgrade (as well as a variety of other things). I was wondering who will insure this car? I am over 25 with level 1 no claim but I want to list my wife (23 also level 1 no claim) as a part-time driver as well. So far ive found all insurance companies either wont insure an upgraded turbo or will but no under 25s. Price is not so much the issue, I just need that insurance so I can buy the car So far tried and was told:- NRMA - wont do modified regardless of age AMMI - will do modified but no under 25s (quote was good thou if no under 25s) Shannons - wont do modified regardless of age (I found this suprising) GIO - wont do modified regardless of age (Being sunday couldnt try any others). ps found this website gives some ideas who to call http://www.importdriver.com.au/insurance.htm Any help would be appreciated. Cheers

You will generally find that insurance companies will insure a car with any added options over standard features as long as they are legal on the car. Ive never heard of a problem with changing the profile of the wheel/tyre combination you will have problems when you fit wider rims than available on a standard car, for both the local authorities and insurance. Generally at worst as long as the wheels are legal, insurance wont cover replacement/repair if optional wheels are not listed on the policy. Of course insurance companies differ in their policy rules, Rota_Motor just needs to check if its ok, rather wait until after an accident (touch wood).
-
No offense turtle33, but I think you are missing Rota_Motor point. If im understanding right, he is talking about putting the 18s on for play (ie without a load) and the 16s for work. There is no way he get booked or insurance made void if simply changes the size and size of the wheel (and therefore lower the load limit) if he its carrying anything. Otherwise, the police would have a field day by pulling over every BA ute owner who optioned the 18s over the 17s whereby because the owner has lowered the original max quoted load limit measured off the 17s (or 16s in Rota_Motor's case). By I do agree with ya mate on that you should get professional advice on load limits if he does wish to carry a load and wants to know what the revised wheel/tyre package limits are.
-
I agree and dont agree it would only become a problem if you got pulled up or had an accident if the tyres on the car at the time were overloaded. Can't possible see a problem with insurance or otherwise if you had 18s on and the load you were carrying was say 400-500kg. As said the XRs are rated for 600kg with 17s. Of course it would be a problem carrying a load of one tonne with wheels larger than 16s that are'nt rated for the load. Its like sort of like a Corolla towing a car trailer, its legal until it has a car on it.

Were did yours from then mate? details please

Man that it cheap. What dealer was that? id get a new one for that, instead of a used one like im trying to. Is that with fleet discount? do they even do fleet discount on utes. Trying to find one, so I can also join the ute club

Howdy fellow BAXR6T owners. Finally ready to purchase one these great machines and was wanting any advice/suggestions with any "what to look fors" etc when buying second hand. (I am already a die hard Falcon fan owning a ELXR8 and AUXR6mk1 (wife) and a 'ol Fairmont Ghia 351) I am look to buy a Silhouette BAXR6T Auto Ute (preferably) 2003 plate with optional hard cover & spoiler and factory 18" rims. Looking to spend probably upto $35 k (incl GST) with under 50,000 klms. Ive never owned a turbo car so any comments would be appreciated. Cheers

Very neat, looks great

It wont happen while ever the GT/GT-P sit at 290kws. They wouldn't release it until they lift the bar on the FPV's hero car the GT/GT-P to comfortably in excess of 300kws. To FPV/Ford it doesn't make good marketing sense to do otherwise.
-
I like the sound of this change. Sounds like it would give the ute a cleaner look from the back. 100% don't have a pic by any chance, otherwise if anyone has a pic to post of it (or a link to one) I would like to see one. Cheers

Hey mate, how you go you sort TSI out? And hows that trophy looking? Straight to the pool room? :D

Hey mate sorry to taking so long to reply I need to visit the board more regularly. Anyways the XR6T was modified, boost lifted 1 pound, K&N filter I believe, modified exhaust (again I believe) and injectors. Apperently the car, wasnt running right.
