  1. Been building custom intercoolers for 20+ years. A heavier core is not as efficient as a lighter core full stop. If you have the slightest grasp on thermal dynamics its not hard to see why. If you warm a piece of 10mm ally and a 2mm piece it is obvious that the thinner piece cools faster, same with cores. A heavy bar and plate will draw large amounts of thermal energy early in the piece due to the mass, good. However once this mass of aluminum has heat soaked it simply cannot transfer its thermal energy quick enough for efficient reduction of intake charge temps. Normally we see bar and plates fall over after several hard full power pulls on the rollers where a much lighter tube and fin is way more consistant run after run. I am yet to ever see any bar and plate ever beat a good light weight tube n fin core, ever. Once I see it with my own eyes im converted as unless its lighter with a higher internal surface area it goes against the laws of thermal dynamics. Same principle goes for heavy cast tanks Kind regards Jon
  2. Hey Kev, good on ya for standing by your product so strongly. I have a Euro tube n fin im about to fab up, core was from boys at Hypertune. You know the type they use im sure. Will see what sort of data I can get from it on dyno. Im just being honest mate, I havent ever seen a bar n plate exchange thermal energy more effeciently than a lighter weight tube n fin. With that being said im open to what ever performs better and if I see it with my own eyes, im converted lol. Hope to get it built soon, will let you know how it performs. Kind regards Jon
  3. Yep I gota say I have never seen a bar and plate outperform a good lightweight tube n fin in my 25 years in industry, even on dyno. Its tube n fin for me too
  4. Most importantly, were the 2 cores the same size? As this would have a big impact on results?
  5. Wow Kev, so was that a Plaz tube n fin you back to back with? Or were they both bar n plate?
  6. Do tell Kev!!!! I have always seen better results with lightweight tube n fin from Europe against bar n plate but im keen to see any other data Awesome!!Kind regards Jon

Hey bud, very nice looking G6 you got there, gotta be happy with that Look forward to hearing how you go with the tune Kind regards Jon
  8. Plaz tube n fin in a heartbeat
  9. Lee, I dont believe I even saw a BA xr6t that clean when I was service manager at Ford some 10 years ago and they were near new lol.... As for convincing the Mrs it has been a project in the making for a very long time lol. It wasnt an easy task but now she loves it. She keeps hasseling me for the intake whistle of my FG lol. Sorry I havent posted anything on the G6 for a while, have been real busy with everything else of late. Im about to finally do my new cooler along with a 12psi accuator can rather than the 8 and see if we can bump it up a bit from 400rwkw. The 76 is past its efficiency zone but I reckon theres a couple more wasps hiding in it. Will post some pics of the build soon. Take care all Kind regards Jon
  10. Hey Lee, glad you liked it Still got a few little tricks to do to it which will hopefully result in a tiny bit more power. Its an awesome combo for the street. The mrs is loving the BA over her turbo Liberty, she wants a 76 on that lol. You definately know how to look after a vehicle mate. Catch up soon Kind regards Jon
  11. Yep, I reckon the GTX76 is gold for a street setup. I love mine Kind regards Jon
  12. yeah you will bagg a 10 mate, go the E85. Its not that bad, I am still getting 11.8 economy out of her on E85 with plenty of right foot still. Nice times bud, especially on street tyres Kind regards Jon
  13. Hey Ben, thanks bud We will get a 10 out of her yet LOL. Hows your rig going bud? Hmmm my quote thingo isn't working hey? Kind regards Jon
  14. Hey Z2TT, I was hoping to see a bit more from her on 98 too. Admitantly we didn't spend too long on 98 but mucked around on E85 a fair bit. The GTX is supposed to flow 10 to 15% more and I guess this is reflected in the power developed. It spools just as good as the stock 76 but has more through the mid and top end. A problem with mine is boost is falling after 4000rpm down to 15psi. This ultimately has an effect on total KW. I am only running an 8psi can which I will upgrade to a 12 and see if it can keep the boost on a bit longer. Really though the little 76 is right on its limit if not past it. I still rate it very highly though, the low down torque is awesome. Just a quick question, anyone had any dramas with the Xforce cat not flowing enough? It only seems like a 4.5" OD unit? Kind regards Jon
  15. Hey Rednose, yep will def be getting a true track fitted. Will have another crack after Chrissy and se how we go Kind regards Jon
  16. Mate, that is awesome! You will be running 10's soon too! Switch over to E85 and your there! I gather you just went a billet 76 comp wheel? Go the little snail Did you just bang it in drive and nail it too? Kind regards Jon
  17. Yep I felt a bit uncoordinated LOL Gota love just leaving her in D. interestingly I did a run in performance mode and it recorded 11.4, I feel as it was hanging out longer in gears. The 76 is on full torque around 3000rpm and it starts falling at 4500rpm We'll get it next time out Kind regards Jon
  18. yeah I think I could do a fair bit more to get her into the 10's. I was running with a full tank of fuel and just had the auto in drive. I tried manual shifting but went slower (11.4) as I kept hitting the limiter LOL. It was just a basic few runs to see how everything went. Will go in harder next time. Will try shifting at around 4800rpm with quart a tank and see how we go. The 60 foot times were 1.77 (11.2) to 1.902 (11.5) Kind regards Jon
  19. Piccy off the line
  20. Hey Jim Thanks bud Yep its pretty close to a 10, I haven't run a quarter for 15 odd years LOL. I think it will get there pretty easy, the MPH says it will too. It is quick, I remember back in the day a 13 second car was quick and something running 11's was absolutely mental! Now its just average. The strip was the first time I opened her up so it was a bit of a surprise LOL. I am really happy with the 76, well for now I ran on 235/50/15 et streets I borrowed but they were only on a 6" rim which made it a bit skatey towards the end of the track. I lifted quite a few times because of it. Next outing I will get some 275/40/17 and some 9" rims and a true trac. Although it would be nice to run a 10 with the open pegger LOL Kind regards Jon
  21. Hey guys Ok so went down the quarter yesterday, best so far was an 11.206 at 127.46mph. Feel im am being let down by the lack of two wheel traction, time for the true track to go in, single pegger G6 diffs just don't cut the mustard. A big congrats to Simon at Morpowa for his 10.05sec pass in the F6 and to Paul for his 10.3 pass and Jarrad with the 11.1 on normal street tyres LOL well done Kind regards Jon
  22. Hi guys Ok so I had the G6 on the dyno today with the PWR stepped, I have to say it performed a lot better than I thought. We ran out of time to start logging outlet temps but the car will be going back soon with another actuator can. So I had a peak target boost of 22psi running with the GX76 comp, ambient was 21degC and outlet temps of the cooler never rose above 36degC. Peak power was 401kw. One thing noted was the way inlet temps stayed consistent run after run, between 25 and 36deg? I thought the tube length was a bit short but it seemed to work ok? Same result on my turbo LS1 with their tube n fin but that had a 600 tube length. Hopefully will get back out there soon and do some data logging of outlet/inlet temps and try the new lightweight tube n fin core out. I think in the warmer weather the short tube lengths will start showing some disadvantages Hope this helps Kind regards Jon
  23. Thanks bud yep sure did. It is within Ford spec but I can just feel a very slight vibe at 100kmph. Will try and do the same process with the front of the shaft. It took all up about 4 hours LOL Kind regards Jon
  24. Hi Everyone Well I got my tail shaft sorted and we hit the rollers today. First thing I noticed was power was down slightly from last time I was there, I believe due to having 20" wheels rather than the 18s it was first tuned with. Next issue was target boost was 22psi but it falls to 15psi? Hmmmm, its either the 76 being out of its efficiency zone or the 8psi can? I will try and fit a 12psi can a bit later down the track and see how it holds boost. The 8psi can was recommended to me as it will have better throw out to control boost. Its a shame as it would have made a better top end power figure if boost could stay up there. We got 355kw on 98 and then 401.2rwkw on E85. I would think we should see another 10 or so more kw once the boost issue is stable. Heaps better power delivery now, will see how it goes down the quarter on sat. I have attached the dyno sheet too Kind regards Jon
  25. Hi everyone Ok so I have it all sorted, we ran it up to within Ford specs and seems much much better. LOL just saw previous post about weight measurement, its meant to be mg not gm. Would be undrivable at 1100gm out!! Just for anyones future reference the measurement from tailshaft centre line to top of trans tunnel just before the centre bearing is 83mm. Moving mine up made a massive difference and dropped mg about 80 units. I did have 45mm spacers to the centre bearing which I cut down to 20mm to achive the correct height. Although I still could have raised it another couple of mm the 1350 uni is quite close to the top of the tunnel. Its off to the dyno in morning now Kind regards Jon
