Fg Cooler Piping Kit.....worth It Or Stay Away?
damo6 replied to PTR_NITRO_FG's topic in Intercooler Workshop
just noticed their selling these for $180 now on ebay-http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FG-XR6-Turbo-F6-Intercooler-piping-kit-/181656228966?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item2a4b8e1466&_uhb=1 are these the same kit that you guys have or a cheaper -see "crap"- version? if they are good I might grab a kit -
The old proprietor of the business, ask them I'm sure they'll be happy to tell you

Ok thanks, geez I was under the impression they were ok,I know they've had to do a lot of convincing because of the mess "flog on" left behind, even dropped in there for some info but I'm not sure I'll let them near my car now.to be honest your not the first I've heard with trouble with them.mines out of warranty next January so I'm starting to hoard parts.profile auto sports sounds the goods might go for a visit . PS.. from what I've been told by mates who go to the states, flog on is at it again, doing his best to detonate engines!

Not from me ya won't, just answering a question is all I was doing.*beep* that!! I'm staying out of it ...

It had nulon 10/40 full synth in it when I first noticed the noise.

Bit of an update on the cam issue, I've just had one cam replaced and new springs because of wear, mines an 012 mk2 with 30thou on the odo. So it's still happening obviously

whats the better fitting, aeroflow or speedflow? ive heard that aeroflow is chinese and prone to leaking. speedflow is aussie and good gear. can anyone clarify this?
-
Nope, no lights.
-
Which ones? Mine or the OP"s.?

40+ offset is fine, I run 20x10 tsw rims with a 40+ offset with 275/30/20 rubber on the back and they sit perfectly inside the gaurd and plenty of clearance on the inside as well. those definately look like a 20 or 25+ offset and should not be on the car. been there mate, truly a pants emptying experiance when you see bits of tyre flying off the front rim after digging into the gaurd lip going thru a corner at 80kmh! which is what happened to me. heres a pic of my back rims to show what a 40+ offset looks like

I had mine initially wired into the factory dimmer circuit,my sparky done so not sure what he tapped into but can find out if anyone wants to know but anyway I found the gauge was still too bright because of it being led lit. Demon there is a much easier spot to put the dimmer if you want it out of sight, inside the fuse holder there's a cavity at the top of it where it can be zip tied,it sits facing upward so all you have to do is reach up behind the top of the cavity with two fingers to adjust.

dont forget one of these if your going cobalts ( they are LED,very bright)-http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AUTOMETER-LED-LIGHTED-GAUGE-DIMMER-CONSTANT-CIRCUIT-ROTARY-SWITCH-AU9114-/181270209018?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a348be1fa heres where I mounted my boost gauge, the lights on is with the dimmer installed, its a 2'16 or 52mm gauge, does not interfere with the dash,I can see my speedo and taco fine.its mechanical too my other gauges, all cobalts -oil press full sweep, oil temp full sweep and volts half sweep are going to be mounted down where the tissue box holder sits,im using one of these-http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ford-Fg-XR6-Turbo-XR8-Gauge-and-Accessory-Holder-for-60-mm-gauges-/141531206229?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item20f3ead255 this ones for 60mm gauges but he does 52mm ones as well and also makes them for FPV's with the starter button. im using these to angle them up towards me-http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/160850638835?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 a mate has done this and they look and work perfectly. anyway just thought I'd offer another way of mounting them to anyone interested

ive got sport 2's, absolute sh*t in the wet but you get that with hard tyres, still not bad value for what they are, arronm's 100% right about the ku31's, howl like a drunk dog when they wear down, the wider the tread the worse they are, still I'd have them or the atr's over feds anyday of the week

timimg cover leak will be seen from the very front of the sump. have a look at the front of the engine, there will be oil everywhere including up around the turbo housing, thermo fans blow it all over the place.your pics look like the filter is leaking.the turbo oil line is located above the filter bolted into the block itself.
-
had mine done-timing cover-september last year, mines a mk2 so it must be still happening
-
Same here. Been with aami for ages then they thank me by doing this. I Rang other mobs and they all are doing it now.somehow I had the feeling aami knew I'd be back. Robbing bastards the lot of them .
-
I hole-sawed a 4'' hole on the bottom front of mine, aside from any air flow improvement (k'n filter also installed) its virtually impossible to know its there
-
ive used this in the past-http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator
-
Yeah I might put some weight in the back and have a look,if anything going lower would.probably change the camber inwards a tad so that might help?
-
yeah its a bit of a coin toss what to do, copped a box trailer into the left rear right on the lip about 1'' long so its probably full off bog now,I put that pic up to see what you think
-
will they scrub if you dont roll the guards? ive got 275's on the back of mine and thinking of going down a notch in height ssl to sssl in the rear.cant roll my guards because of a ding repair on one of them.I run 20x10 with your offset
-
couldn't honestly give an explanation why? I might ring them later and ask,I got my renewal a mth ago which is the normal practice...unless they have dreamt this up in the last fortnight? mine as you might know is a mk2 fg. but I cant see why that would make yours dearer than mine? I did however get reamed for an extra $200 odd this year.had a whinge to them and was given the typical bullsh*t so I shopped around, were either dearer or wouldnt touch me because of mods or what it (my car) is.somehow I had the feeling they knew that would happen and low and behold I'd come back. to me they are nothing but a necessary evil and they know it the bastards! just did a mock quote online, made out I was a new customer, excess is still the same. give it try panda, just use your neighbours addy and see what you get.
