Don't worry Steve - there's so many different opinions on oils - both expert and amateur. Try a web search and you'll be none the wiser. There's no doubt of the benefits of fully synthetic oils - jet engines use them exclusively for maintainig their properties at extreme temperatures. From my research and therefore in my opinion, synthetic oils are undoubtedly a good thing for a car like the T, but not necessary. Regular changes, say every 5000 kms, with a good SM rated mineral or synthetic fortified oil will ensure longevity. I mean, taxis don't use synthetic and if it was economical to use it (ie extending engine rebuild life) they would certainly use it. I also believe Ford doesn't recommend its use (? Not sure - Happy to be corrected on this). Don't know about you, but I don't intend to have my T when its done 200 or 300 000kms. Sure, synthetic may extend engine life, but being a Ford you can guarantee that everything around the engine, like air con, power steering, transmission etc.. would have stopped working before your synthetic fed engine does and it all becomes a maintenance nightmare anyway. So I too am happy using Magnatec in my T. (I'm not anti synthetic - I use full synthetic in my Subaru as I feel its more "necessary" in that all alloy engine with finer tolerances. Just providing my opinion. Mark
