Hi Steve - Type in "actuator central locking"in the search function on the AU forum at http://www.fordforums.com.au/forumdisplay.php?f=53 and you'll get plenty of hits and lots of advice, including playing with the wires in the BEM - lots of similarities between AU and BA in Body Electronics Module. Has Anyone Used Black Mac Performance In Perth?
markxr6t replied to Rob (F6)'s topic in General Tech
Nice avatar Kieran! In response to Rob's question - I haven't used them but I know someone that has. He was pleased with the results, pleased with the backup service when things weren't perfect and he believes Jarrod is a good tuner who is getting better. A major attraction for him also was a "new car" warranty for any damage caused by mods - but I'm yet to see or hear about anyone making a claim. Apparently Ford demanded that McInerney Ford totally separate its New Car sales and Performance arm Ie Black Mac due to conflicts of interest with new car warranties. So yes Rob - the only person I know who has actually used Black Mac for tunes and performance mods has been happy with them. Mark -
Has Anyone Seen This Anti speeding Add?
markxr6t replied to Felix's topic in All Videos and Multimedia
That XR wasn't even speeding.......... -
Central locking actuators would often fail in AUs with symptoms like random locking and unlocking. Same part fits AU and BA, but I thought had been improved for BA. About $150 for the part and easy to fit yourself apparently.

Yeah I'm still here lurking in the shadows. Don't currently have a T so not much to contribute. I guess I could always put up a sound file of my AUXR8 220 with its new exhaust. Will definitely own a T again - I've already bought injectors for my BF, edit box is ready to go and may even get a 'cooler and cat ready to go as well.
-
The trade ins sound very reasonable. It could be a long, hard slog to get only $1-2k more privately. Chuck an add on Carsales and see what happens.....
-
Whoops. You DO need to restore your factory tune to your car if you want to keep your edit box. Many of you would have read my earlier thread about my experiences of getting my edit box unlocked (from my previous car's VIN) by CAPA for $75. I have now asked for that thread to be deleted. Tony Rullo the owner of CAPA rang me this morning saying that I was fortunate enough to have slipped through the net as a result of a minor break down in communication. I obviously thought I was experiencing standard procedure and was just sharing it with my fellow enthusiasts. Therefore, whilst CAPA do have the software to unlock the boxes, this can only be done with a stat dec and/or evidence from the owner that the car which it is VIN locked too has been stolen or written off. Sorry for any confusion I've caused (particularly to CAPA who have had several calls from their dealers asking WTF?) and hope this clears it all up. Mark

Why not just do the injectors, edit, intercooler and cat for under $3k installed and see what you think. You might love it (and continue with brakes etc....) or you might might decide to go the Phoon. Then you can easily remove the intercooler, injectors, flash back factory tune and still get 20 - 23k for you car as a stocker and take your injectors, edit and 'cooler across to the F6 should you so decide. This gives you a chance to test the water without unecessarily blowing too many $$$.

Yeah about $1200 is the best you'll do. You're not bidding on that white one on ebay by any chance are you? Absolute bargain if it stays around those $$ - I even thought about it myself!

It was a 2 year lease with a 55% residual. I prefer 2 year leases as I get bored of cars after 2 years and I think its a good balance between building equity, reasonable repayments and a relatively low kms car to sell after paying out the residual. Lease repayments were under $800 per month and service ($500 pa), tyres ($600pa), fuel ($3500 pa) and insurance ($620pa) are included in my calculation. If you use the "Employee Contribution Method" of contributing the taxable FBT amount (about $3600pa) towars running costs in after tax dollars, this offsets your FBT liabilty. If you want me to go through a scenario for your particular situation, pm me and I'll do the figures for you. This seminar you're attending and most "salary packaging calculators" won't take into account the advantages of your residual being less than what the car is worth and to me, this is the main benefit of novated leasing. Of course if you spend $55k on a fully optioned brand new XR6T, you're going to be sailing close to the wind come residual time. If getting good value is important and you want fullly optioned and brand new, buy a Subaru! that's why I've put off my BF for now until there's more April 06 and later build-date examples around the $30k mark....

Goran - On depreciation - I leased an 11 month old (11/03) XR6T in October 2004 and paid $35k for it. In November 2006 my payout figure was $18500k. I sold it privately (and quickly) for $27k, giving me a $8k profit over residual. If I'd bought a brand new one for $6k more, I'd be lucky to make $3K after paying out the residual and even less if I'd optioned it up. I calculated, that including my profit on residual, that ownership of my T for 25 000kms a year inc all running costs with a novated lease cost me about $150 a week in after tax dollars. Good value IMHO Make sure that your car has well under 100 000kms at the end of the lease as its easier to sell for a decent price.

Hi Goran Your "Letter of Offer" to salary package from your employer usually qualifies you for Ford's National Fleet Discount. Just email a few dealer's fleet sales dept and they'll have a quote back to you within the day. As a guide, your driveaway price (including a couple options, stamp duty and dealer delivery) will usually come in close or under the RRP. With a novated lease, your financed amount is less GST and you pay GST on each lease payment which you then get back via your employer as an input tax credit. Suffice to say I would NEVER buy a brand new car, but have now novated leased several cars. It is particularly viable if you do 25000km plus in year. Get something which doesn't depreciate too quickly and you get a bonus at residual time as well. Mark

Grapnel Mufflers in Balcatta are the only exhaust place I rang who would happily remove mufflers and weld in pipe. They quoted $140 and were the only place who didn't automatically try to sell me a whole new system. (ie they'll actually do what you ask for).

Edit and injectors only? That's awesome!

The short motor for the Typhoon and XR6T is the same part number from April 06 on, which means stronger rods. Valve springs were upgraded for BFs anyway, I believe.

Geez Jordak - next you'll be modifying your horse or pony or whatever it is.

I used to be freaked when I knew someone had died in a place I was staying in until I visited some places where MILLIONS had died under duress like WWII battlegrounds/ death camps and even stayed in apartments where people had been executed. In Europe, if everyone who died under violent circumstances returned from the spirit world, there wouldn't be enough room for all the ghosts! Whilst there must be something to all this ghosty stuff, I think the human mind is by far the strongest factor.

Hi TFord6 I posted a similar question on FF.com.au and got great responses. There's all sorts of au xr8s with different exhausts over there and they're all happy with what they've got. http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=92277 There's even a thread with sound files if you do a search. There's guys with 220rwkw+ with single 2 1/2 inch systems (which cost as little as $400 and by all accounts, will improve power over stock)) and lots of supporters of twin 2 1/2 inch systems for under $1000. It seems anything you do will add power over standard Ford stuff, due mainly to using straight through mufflers. Not sure where you are, but Mettam's Mufflers in Perth quoted me $400 for a single 2 1/2 system with straight through muffler. I'm just going to remove a centre or rear muffler for better sound - Its not worth trying to chase power in an XR8 for me after owning an XR6T! Mark

Its a bit sad that I can identify all the songs and artists after just returning from 2 weeks in Europe and watching too much of Sky Channel's "MTV Flaunt" I like the last one the best (Destination Calabria), followed by No.2 ("Perfect") and Number 9. Here's another one for you Dags that I saw a few times that would probably be on Youtube if you do a search - Its "Baby Baby" by Sunblock and there's 3 versions. The one they played after midnight on "MTV Flaunt" had lots of bare breas*s which was the cause of much celebration by us after 14 fine Berlin Pilseners! DJ Mark
