Just take the grille off and look where the bumper sits on the 'rail' or whatever its called. My bumper was sitting on some high density foam so I stuffed some more under that and bingo nice and straight!

Not to mention the bicep workout going from 1st to 2nd on a cold morning!!

I have done this a few times now, and do notice a significant improvement but after a few days it returns to slow and incomplete boost (probably 4 or 5 psi) with the rest of the boost sometimes coming in quickly at differing points in the rev range. Does anyone here agree that its time to replace the boost solenoid? If so I would appreciate some instructions on how to unplug the wiring as I don't want to stuff things up. Cheers

Sounds like the problem I had. "Boost Solenoid" Do the boost solenoid maintenance which literally takes 5 minutes and costs a small amount of WD40 :-) A big tip is to be quite liberal with the WD40 in the solenoid and up the pipe, reconnect and let it sit for about 15 mins. If you do this and it solves the problem you will know as soon as you take off, even if this is slowly! Happy hunting

I tried to put Focal 570 CV1s in the doors of my BA. No go, cos they get in the way of the windows! I.e. 2.87" is too much!!

Has anyone had experience with upgrading the standard sound to premium sound with the factory speakers? If so I would like to know if the Premo sound is much better for FM, Aux and CD? Cheers

Hi Pal Where did u get your heater core done, cos that sounds like a good price. Tell me, did the core leak in your interior? Cheers Greg
-
Hi Boys Mine is an 03 build and the heater hasn't worked for a couple of years, so doesn't really worry me. What does concern me is the prospect of the cabin getting flooded. So if the core has shat itself, does it mean the flooding will inevitably follow? I reckon if I took it to Fraud they would put their hand out for $1500 at least! Appreciate any comments/advice.

Just wondering what everyone is paying for a CAPA X3 box and tune in Sydney. I was quoted $1500 and I reckon that since the box is about $700, that the tune is a bit expensive. Cheers

Is the shudder due to the front or the back as well? Just wondering, if its safe to just do the DBA4000 slotted and Bendix Ultimates on the front? I.e. dont want to create any balance issues. Cheers

Yeah my BA manual has only done 40K and was banging and clunking really badly so I took it for a diff overhaul and 3 new bushes. They were all gone but the centre one was totalled. Car feels like new again. Frord created a big problem for us owners with this setup and the dealers make matters worse by denying the problem and saying its all "normal".

I am getting married next year to an o/s lady. Good chick but can't understand why I have invested in a big fast car and only use it on weekends!! (I work in Syd CBD) She doesnt drive, but says she will have to learn when she gets here. Cant see her even getting the T5 into 2nd cos its a bugga Hells Bells I got this nasty feeling that I am gonna loose something unless I can find some cheap and cheerful sh*tbox for her to drive around in. hmmmmmm

Not much comment here about the Falken FK452? Since they came 2nd in the Wheels tyre test I thought they would be worth a try. Anybody had any experience?

Yep, I guess its time to meet Spiro face-to-face. Since I am an "aging juvenile" I can imagine what will happen next!!!

Well I did the boost solenoid maintenance and I have the boost coming on a bit earlier. However it has not solved the issue I have had for a few years which I havent been able to resolve. The mechanics (mainly of the Ford variety) say "she drives like a beauty", nothing wrong. Here is the problem: Regardless of air temp or humidity, about 7 out of 10 flat out runs feature sluggish performance up to around 4500 - 5000 rpm at which point its like a switch is flicked and I get more boost up to the limiter. Other times it hauls hard the whole way thru. The reason I have taken it to the dealers is because they are supposed to have all the computers etc to see what is going in. So has anyone here got any idea what might be going on?

Hi Boys I have been inactive on this sight for a loooooooonnnnnnnng time due to an illness, so I havent followed this thread. Have had an issue with my T for a few years which I havent been able to resolve, The mechanics say "she drives like a beauty", nothing wrong. Here is the problem: Regardless of weather conditions, about 7 out of 10 flat out runs feature sluggish performance up to around 4500 - 5000 rpm at which point its like a switch is flicked and all hell breaks lose to about 6000rpm. Other times it hauls hard the whole way thru. Do you reckon its the boost solenoid???

Thanx Smicky I will get off my keyster when I am a little less time poor.

Just wondering if its worth upgrading the speakers in my BA. I have the standard sound system and have been told that there are speakers out there that are a straight swap. Interested to know if you think its worth it and if so if you know the details of the speakers that can be used.
-
Thanx Chief, I owe you a beer!
-
Thanx, but does it work with the base system as well as the premium system?
-
Gday Boys Can someone give me a summary of the options for connecting a 4th Gen Nano to a BA XR6T? I have heard that FM transmitters are junk, so interested to hear the alternatives. Cheers
-
Thanx all for your opinions. I feel $650 poorer for the experience with this tuner, but have taken Street Tuners advice. However come next week if I have no joy I will be revealing the name of the offending tuner.

I have tried having the plugs re-gapped and it didnt do a thing. Today I flashed the car back to factory and she accelerates smoothly and seemlessly all the way to redline. I am most disappointed with this product, cos although power increases it doesnt come on without a lot of "missing". As for the dealer that I used up here in Sydney, I reckon I have been ripped off. How long should a custom tune take? I was charged $450 which involved a couple of dyno runs and no more than 20 minutes on the laptop. In my opinion the dealer has not made reasonable efforts to find out why the car isnt accelerating smoothly. Interested in others experiences and thoughts before I totally trash this product and the dealer in Sydney.

I have a flash kit and got a custom tune done up here in Sydney. After the custom tune I noticed the car baulking/missing under hard acceleration. Took it back to the tuner who replaced the plugs and a further $200 later couldnt guarantee that the problem had been solved. On testing, the problem hasnt been solved leaving a rather disgruntled customer. Has anybody else experienced anything but seamless acceleration following a custom flash tune?
