Car started to play up today. :( I'll have to look into tomorrow. It was driving fine, stopped for lunch, after lunch went to mash the foot in 3rd to overtake a land cruiser and when it got to full boost it felt down on power and also vibrated like it had a miss fire. Only does it from when it gets near or to full boost. Drove it home off boost and parked it.

Yeah, it seems pretty common to want more power once you get use to it. I was expecting it to be more of a tyre frier but it still grips up pretty good considering. Road surface and tyres have alot to do with it. I don't thinks my last set of rear tyres (maxis I think) would handle it very well, they use to spin up easy on stock power.

I'm fairly new to turbo cars and tuning so could you elaborate on what makes this a good-ish looking tune versus a really clean tune. I would appreciate any input or criticism. As I mentioned in other posts I was slightly surprised that it made 330, I was expecting a tad more from my supporting mods and going off similar cars and set ups.
-
Well done mate. It made similar power to mine but I have a 4'' dump and mine went 16psi. Different cars and different dyno's I guess. My tuner said the ecu & timing was holding it back so apart from e85 I'm not sure where I would go from here. Congrats, bet it feels nice to drive with all that torque.

Tuned by Joe at CMS - BF2 - 2007 - FPV F6 Tornado - #0166 - Lightning Strike Silver - Manual - 80,000km - Fully optioned 331.2 rwkw & 964.2 Nm on 16psi on BP 98 Build Thread Here --> http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/89288-I-jets-bf-f6-ute-build/ Power mods Nizpro turbo side intake.PW stage 3 intercooler kit, hot and cold piping, TB relocation.PW surge with 044.Stainless steel Xforce turbo back, 4" dump, twin 2.5" cat back.Wastegate flapper mod.12psi Actuator.KPM 1000'sVery happy with how the car drives now, it feels really strong when it comes on boost, pulls hard all the way to redline. The torque is mental. 4th gear roll on....ooohhhhh yeah..... I'm glad I upgraded my suspension before getting it tuned. It has handling to match now. It does have a tendency to do 3rd gear power slides out of corners.....hehehhehe I really think the only change I will do in the future is an E85 tune when it becomes available in my area.

^^ Come to think of it....it was a ve Late model camira jack.
-
Yeah I have had one of those jacks fail on me in the past, luckily it was while lifting and the wheel was still on. I drive my front wheels up onto timbers on the ground than use a trolley jack. It's a pain in the but with a lowered car.

Thanks Pixy. Just went for a little cruise to kiama and back through jambaroo. Feels better yet again now that the temperature has dropped off. Very impressed with 3rd and 4th pulls out of the corners. I was laughing to my self along the way on many occasions. The power is still very usable. Just not in first or second.

Well, the results are in. It main 331rwkw and 960nm on 16 pound tapering off to 15 in the top end. I'll be honest, I was expecting this set up to make a little more power but I am in no way disappointed, you cannot argue with how it feels and drives on the street. 4th gear roll on from about 80 km/hr is insane. Really happy with the torque figure. Joe mentioned the ignition timing was holding it back. He did explain it to me very clear on the other readouts, he basically said that he tuned it in closed loop and it was pulling timing out at around 4500rpm due to high intake temperatures. It was nearly 30 deg out there today by the time he was finishing things up. Happy with the result and the service from CMS. The car feels very strong and once it gets on boost it keeps pulling hard all the way to redline. I'm hoping E85 becomes available down here in Wollongong because this will be the next step I think.

^ this was my first time setting one up so I just followed the instructions that came with the actuator. Maybe someone with greater knowledge can chime in. To me that seems logical as you need some sort of spring pressure holding the flap shut, but obviously you dont want too much as your are reducing the actuator travel by doing so. I can't think of any reason why having more than, or less than -2mm would be beneficial.

Congrats on the purchase mate. FG F6 is a nice machine. If it were me I would ditch the stickers and stripes and machine the face of those wheels or swap them for the machined face 335 wheels and drop it a little. Carbon or black vinyl roof. I like the xr8 bonnet and bobtail but the f6 spoiler also looks good. As said above mate...everyone has different tastes, it's your car so just do whatever pleases you.

That's pretty good man. We're only doing 1:05's - 1:06's depending on tyres and temperature. The faster guys are dipping into 1:03's on the 600's. I know the pro's are doing 0:58's on the 1000cc Australasian superbikes. My boss has one of the radical track cars and I'm pretty sure he hovers around the 59 - 1:00

The turbo smart installation manual said to adjust the actuator rod until the hole on the end overlaps the pin on the flapper arm by 2mm with the flap closed. Than use pressure ( compressed air ) to operate the actuator so the hole & pin can be aligned and installed. Hope this makes sense. The manual had pictures & diagrams with helped explain it.

no mine's a BF MK2......boost forever.....x2

Hi my name is I JET. It's been 3 months and 17 days since I last boosted.

Hi mate. Car looks great. I like the wheels. What sort of times are you doing around wakefield. I race 600's there alot and it's interesting to see what times different cars are doing.

Replaced the diff oil today just to be safe. It was done about 6000kms / 1 year ago. I was expecting it to be a little more discolored after hearing other peoples experiences. It still looked pretty good so I'm happy about that but changed it anyway. Its going to be getting a workout next week. Last time I changed the diff oil it was midnight black / dark brown........Also dropped in a new drycell battery.
