  1. Nice! I have same model BF II XR6t with same mods and power as your original post. but now I think the stock turbo needs replacing (can hear it wind down for about 5 minutes after ignition off)... How different did it feel between the stock turbo E85 446kw tune vs your now G35-900 RON98 453kw tune? particularly low to mid power delivery, you feel much difference? I'm contemplating whether I replace stock turbo with same size + E85 retune in hopes of that ~430rwkw mark, or maybe I go different turbo and aim for similar power on 98... was it just the manifold and external gate that you changed along with the G35-900?
  2. Hey all, I have a 2006 BF XR6 Turbo, in deja vu green and relatively low kms with 115,000 on the clock. Overall the car is in great condition, but there a few things I'd like to replace/rejuvenate, in order to get her looking nice and fresh like she was from factory... Looking for some advice on what I could do for; • the paint - roof has started fading a bit. How costly is it for a respray (whole car / just the roof) in the same colour? Or what are your thoughts on paint touch up remedies? Plastidip the roof in black? lol • the duco - removing your usual stone chips from the bonnet etc... • headlights - starting to get a bit dull. do the headlight "cleaning" products from auto shops actually work, or is getting new pair the way to go? aftermarket headlights, LED? • moulds - the black moulds that go around the doors. they're a bit dull - any products that can bring these back to life, or just get new moulds? same goes for windscreen wipers, not as a black as they should be.. • badges - the XR6 badges on the side skirts are flakey. one's missing the 6. best place to buy these badges? Ultimately I just want it to look like a nice clean example of what the BF XR6 Turbo once was... and they're only going up in value, so I consider it an investment more so than an expense (at least that's how I like to justify it to myself :P )
  3. sorry to dig up old thread, but thought better than starting a new one about the same thing... 🤷‍♂️ running BF II XR6t, the turbo is starting to make some bearing noises, so it's almost time to replace... currently making about 365rwkws, but thinking when I replace turbo might go a retune with E85 in hopes to reach 430+... car's done about 115,000kms all up, but the ZF was serviced with new genuine oil (and coolant lines) about 5,000kms ago... which fixed the flaring issue I wax experiencing in 3rd+ after power was bumped up from 270 to 365rwkws.. since the service though she's been good... OR, do I wait, save some more money and go to an FG model instead - I'm told there's quite a big difference between BF & FG, particularly with the computer and tuning possibilities; engine fart, protecting gearbox better, etc.. thoughts? 😃
  4. long time between posts, but thought I'd give an update on my ZF, last year I got my ZF serviced by A & B Automotive they used the genuine ZF oil. Cost was around $660 including labour... definitely improved my ZF and now handles the ~370rwkws a lot better. Would recommend them to anyone considering ZF service.
  5. Sorry I just noticed the footer in your previous post where you already mentioned this! Cheers. I also noticed the statement you linked from Penrite in 2010 stating their product was no longer suitable for ZF... ..looking at their "new" Penrite ATF BMV it appears they now do have a suitable product and they categorically say it's a suitable replacement for the genuine Lifeguard originally used by the ZF?... so I'm guessing this is what my mechanic is using.. In any case, as you guys suggested I'm better to go the Gulf Western anyway, especially considering mechanic charging me $200 for the penrite which is all of 5 litres for the service compared to $150 for 20L of Gulf Western!
  6. Thanks for the advice guys. Will be sure to get the better pan gaskets & do mechatronic plug as well. Car has just done over 100kms how much actual oil is needed each time it's serviced?
  7. cheers, that metal pan looks like a winner. I see they have genuine for $400 as well, compared to most places is like $600. and that metal pan has a drain and fill plug, could I potentially change the fluid myself next time I wanted to change the fluid (probably no point unless filter is changed too though I guess)? as for the oil, I'm thinking of just using the Penrite mechanic has, save me the hassle of getting the Gulf Western... I don't think there's really that much of a difference between the two?? I'm not sure whether the service includes a "flush" or if it's just a straight fluid change... what's involved with a "flush"? - change the fluid, drive for a few hundred kms then change the fluid & filter again?
  8. I can get it serviced for about $500, with the Penrite fluid.. that's if I have a steel pan already, which I doubt I do considering it's a Feb 2006 BF XR6t... I believe the genuine Ford steel pan is in the vicinity of about $500 extra :(
  9. cheers. an upgrade by Nizpro sounds nice, but I’m tipping its anything but cheap ha. my local mechanic said they can do a service (change oil and clean filter), but I think they’re using the genuine oil from Ford and costs something ridiculous like $50/litre... and from my understanding I’ll need about 20 litres of it for a service? I read people talking about numerous other types of cheaper oil that’s just as good, but most posts are 5yrs old... what’s the general consensus these days? I was thinking of buying some Motorcraft Mercon SP XT6QSP from the US, which is apparently what the genuine Ford oil is anyway?
  10. ahh I think it’s flaring/slipping too. in manual mode, was in 3rd and at about 4,000rpm I changed to 4th. went into 4th and the revs actually went up a little then back to around 4,000rpm.
  11. all these posts are a few years old now, wondering where are some places I can take it these days around Melbourne to get ZF serviced?
  12. just over 100,000kms... I don't believe the gearbox has ever been serviced... maybe I should get one anyway? the car was first tuned about 5 years ago, and then more recently just a few days ago... one thing I've noticed since the tune a few days ago is that the car drives and changes gears a lot smoother... it feels like the gearbox was more aggressive with the previous tune.. I don't know if this could have anything to do with it?
  13. I just got my BF XR6 Turbo ZF6 auto back from a tune, making about 360rwkws, but already I've noticed a couple of times under full load that it's failed to change from 2nd to 3rd and got to about 6,000rpm before it hit rev limiter and just cut all power... I see a lot of people talking about their ZF6 slipping, but I think this is different? I'm thinking the ZF6 is in need of a service?
  14. Running a BF II XR6t with Premium Sound and the sub woofer has started distorting heavily at high volume. Wondering if it's worth replacing the sub with another Ford factory sub or go an aftermarket one that hopefully fits straight in?? And I'm interested in hearing from those who have changed the factory amplifier to something a bit better - did this make much different to sound quality and volume even with the factory speakers? Cheers
