  1. Hi all, My socket for the locking nuts has worn out from the clowns using rattle guns and not a wheel brace to tighten them. I went to Ford to get a replacement socket and they advised the company that made them are no longer in business and they don't have a replacement, just they will loan you a socket. I've looked around auto shops and eBay, but I can find the right size lock nuts in black. Only the chrome ones. Has this happen to anyone else and do you know of a replacement?
  2. Bingo! That's it, same problem. Mine is an 08 model so its out of warranty, but see how I go. The funny thing is I brought this up with Ford multiple times during the warranty but they couldn't find it. Thanks again Nitro, I was ready to put an axe to mine as well. Cheers
  3. Hi all, On further investigation, I disconnected the subwoofer speaker wires, with no change. Disconnected both the passenger side speakers and again no change. Basically when I disconnected a speaker, the interference comes through the other speakers, so it looks like the issue is central and coming from the head unit. I cant really think of anything else? One other thing I was thinking, maybe it has to do with the stereo controls on the steering wheel, but the problem comes and goes when the car is stationary. I'm pretty much of the opinion its to do with the head unit, but before I go to the trouble of changing it I want to be sure. Dose anyone know a good auto electrician in western Sydney?

  5. Hi all, My brother in law is looking at some exhaust options for his FG XR6 Turbo and can get a stock F6 exhaust cheap. His looking at full exhuast, injectors and a tune and wondering what power gain he will get form the factory F6 exhaust? Cheers
  6. Thanks Dave. Doesn't look like the amplifier is causing the problem because its coming through the front speakers, but I'll still check it out. Also I don't think its coins in the CD player, but thanks for the advice. Correction on the problem when the car warms up, as it happened this morning when I drove out my driveway. Do you know where I could get a wiring diagram? Cheers
  7. Hi all, I have a problem with my FG F6, and wondered if this has happened to anyone else? I'm getting an intermittent scratching sound coming through the speakers, which is very loud and annoying. Its a bit like the sound when you first plug a lead into an amplifier for an electric guitar. It must be a high resistive connection or bad earth and it doesn't change if you turn the stereo off. The only way I can stop it is pulling fuse 27 inside the car, which takes out the screen display, AC and trip meter and generates a fault on the dash board. It's always been there and has been getting worse in the last 12 months. The only way I can reduce the noise is backing off the bass, mid and treble which only reduces its slightly. There's no pattern to this, it happens when driving, turning or reversing. It doesn't happen when the car is cold; it generally starts after driving for 10 minutes. I'm guessing its coming through the amp because you can here it through all the speakers. It happens with the radio, CD player and IPod. I haven't made any mod's to the sound system, and its very hard to find without the wiring diagram for the FG series. Dose anyone have any thoughts, or now where the amp is located? Would appreciate some help or ideas. Cheers

  10. Thanks guys. I forgot to mention it’s an FG, so there’s the launch control to consider. With changing from 1st to second gear, should I change earlier? With this much power and stock tyres, the car brakes traction in 3rd gear and sometimes 4th. The F6 also has the gear change indicator chime, so should I change gears imedently after the chime, or will the car over rev the rev limiter for that spilt second? I remember hearing something about this when they launched the car.

  13. Hi guys, I've been looking at buying some Yokohama Advan A048 semi slicks, 265/35/18, for track and drag days. I have a set of BA Typhoon rims, I was thinking of using them on these wheels. I believe the wheel width is 8.5-9 inches and I have been told there's restrictions to how wide you can go, because of the vehicle weight. Has anyone fitted that size tyre to these wheels? Cheers

  17. Hi all I recently purchased an FG F6 and I must say absolutely awesome car! But I have a couple issues. The clutch seems fine, but it makes a rattling noise when disengaging first gear, when the cars in neutral and tunning the engine off. I also get a lot of axel tramp when braking traction, on the passenger side. Ford says the rattling clutch is normal, because of the design and the axel tramp is also normal. That may be the case with the clutch, but I thought Ford would have sorted out the axel tramp out by now. Any of you guys having the same issues?
  18. I have a white FG F6, white with tinted windows, dark wheels, leather trip al full bremdo brakes. The eye patches really stand out in white, I get heaps of looks. If your interested?
  19. Hi Bogan I believe 17inch wheels will fit over the rears. Did you need to modify the wheels to fit that tyre size?
  20. Hey guys Just wondering what tyres and wheel size are you guys using down the quarter? Running a FG F6, which is about to be boosted, so I will need some decent grip, not interested in using street tyres. I have premium brakes fitted, 4 pots on the rear, so I don’t think 15 inch wheels will fit, looking at least 17-18 inch. Cheers
  21. Spot on, that’s correct the fronts callipers wont fit the rears, they are a different type of calliper. The 6 pot callipers fitted the fronts with no issue.
  22. Good point! This would be the reason Ford were hesitant to fit them, because the callipers are for the FG GT, not the FG F6. They are only looking at the part numbers. Even though they are different part numbers, you would think Brembo callipers would be interchangeable between the current Ford range. I know there the same brakes between for the BA and FG. You would think the 6 and 4 pot callipers are same on all Fords. I couldn’t see the reason making different baking systems for GT, F6 and the F6X. That just means extra costs!
  23. They did say somthing about the GT has a 12 point booster and the F6 is a 10 point booster. If that makes any sence??
  24. Hi Guys I’m looking at fitting 6 pot Brembo callipers to my FG F6 and moving the standard 4 pots to the rear. Effectively upgrading to the premium brakes. I managed to get hold of 6 pot Brembo callipers and front rotors, which I asked Ford to fit during the recent service, but they didn’t want to do it, because they said the callipers are for the GT, not the F6 and they weren’t sure if the F6 brake booster matches the Callipers. The rotors fit fine and the four pot callipers can be moved to the rear, but the only thing they were unsure of is the front callipers. I figured the Brembo’s callipers are the same on F6 or the GT range. Can any one comment?

    Don’t get me wrong guys, I’m not being a tight ass, just asking the question? You need to remember the luxury car tax on top of the brake up grade, pushes the cost of the F6 to the mid 70K, drive away. The question I was asking is there a brembo 2 pot calliper available you can fit the rear, which is a cheaper option then the brake up grade, and paying the extra to the Tax Man! I don’t like paying extra to the tax man if I don’t have to, do you?
