  1. Checked the hose coming off front of turbo? Don't just look at it - take it off, it connects to the boost solenoid which you can also remove and do maintenance on. inspect hose for cracks/any way it could leak and maybe replace it. This leaking/not being connected robs you of boost control. Disconnect it all together and you'll be driving along like I was one day with a REALLY loud spoolin turbo attracting all the wrong attention. I was even told by the stupid mechanic who left it disconnected that I must have flash tuned the car for it to go this hard!
  2. I'm on my P's still and own a BA xr6t in WA, no high powered car laws here. I don't recommend it if you plan on giving the car a world of hurt like I do and continue to do. It'll cost you so much in repairs, to the point where I could have found myself in a much newer BF xr6t with the ZF 6 speed automatic! Not saying every BA is going to be BAd but yeah if you'd like a long list of what I've had to battle with over the past 30,000 kms bringing me up to 160,000 ish now then please ask.
  3. I've bought a few things from falcon specialists in maddington. Can seem pricey on certain things but the parts are all good. Don't think you can pick parts though but I've never asked. I agree with the thread title, we certainly do things just a little different over here in WA.
  4. Skids. Do some skids. That remind's me, anyone wanna buy a BA turbo for cheap? I swear it's never been thrashed.
  5. haha almost took my bumper off trying to be a hero, did some donuts, held throttle down and was having fun until I lost it and slid sideways like horizontally in a way where if I was a few centimeters closer to the bumper it woulda ripped it off easy. Drifting is not for me obviously, my handbrake also doesn't work haha! I got respect for those who can do it.
  6. I want to go to the drags so badly! Too scared of breaking stuff as the rear end of my car needs attention. also: hadacrashandtooembarressedtoshowcar Maybe I should come down and spectate.
  7. Under black garnish cover on top of motor. Remove crossover where it says turbo intercooled, grab a few tools and you should have the coils out within half an hour easy. Watch the plugs that connect to the coils, the plastic in mine was hell brittle. Maybe have a look at the spark plugs while you're at it. There is a coil over each spark plug.
  8. Does any of this apply to a BA mk2? I'd rather have auto feature but it leaves the lights on for 30 seconds or so after locking car which is annoying so I've decided I want to wire the lights to the ignition. It's safer, people notice you earlier with your lights on. Only issue is going through globes more often but I carry a complete set of spare globes and tools.
  9. I always understood that maximum gains are had from a re tune in this scenario but however only exhaust mods would cause an over boost condition and this would not result in that. For $100, you'll get another dyno printout and more than likely more power as well as peace of mind that you have had your tuna look over the car.
  10. My turbo core is only 20,000 odd km old and is slightly noisy but before that it sounded like the kids up the road going down the street on their skateboards. I don't give my car hell then park it up, that is where I DEFINITELY hear a noise after parking it. I'd have thought the play is more important if you pull the pipe off the front of the turbo however when my core was replaced it had next to no play but was noisy as hell. I'm certain there'd be a way to test ford coils - I'd imagine two people and a fluke multimeter and you're set.
  11. I had lots of issues and decided to throw money at my BA mk2. I would HIGHLY recommend a correct diagnosis before you go and replace lots of functional parts for brand new. Fuel filter was causing my issues, it's also a maintenance thing, with how cheap they are, I'd do it anyway if it's been a while. Ever tried running different fuel in it? I had some problems where mine would cut out and just not like 98 or 95 but ran a heck of a lot better on 91, all sorted now (by throwing lots of money - I don't know what part fixed it). It HATES 95 still to this day, but handles 98 and 91 just fine.
  12. You can get off this, or at least a greatly reduced penalty. If you've got money. Either way, the judge's mindset: SPEEDING = MURDER. Almost makes me cry the tow truck dude doing that to your car. It's a rort how they get the jobs from the cops like they do and go and treat people like this - you're still paying for the "service". Goodluck!
  13. Wouldn't they just find rubber under your car (or burnt mud guards in my case....) and tell you where to go?
  14. It definitely needs a turbo then as well as write up on this forum.
  15. That's the sort of exhaust system I'd like and the sort of power output. Definitely need to upload a video of the beast running!
  16. It's a rort in WA and I can't believe we all support it. They're ALL hidden pretty much and they always talk about how it "prevents" people speeding in the dangerous locations they are situated. I lost my licence with less than 100kw and now haven't had one ticket in the xr6t after a year of driving it (30,000km+). They're mostly in x trails and VW vans luckily for us in WA. Only thing that sucks is people who park their x trail deliberately to replicate a speed trap. I have always supported police being present, I have never supported their tactics.
  17. No oil and your turbo would be cooked. If you're worried, find a respected tuner in your area and have the car run up on a dyno which is able to log boost pressure. If you want to entertain us, setup a camera in your car and upload a video of you driving.
  18. shot in the dark. clock spring in steering wheel? Mines gone (havent replaced yet) and it sounds similar to the weird problems I've had. Check fuses first as above before throwing money at car though.
  19. I'm pretty sure a while ago a car got stolen from WA's storage place for hoon cars. some nicely modded hsv, keys were on the bonnets of the cars. That's painful though mate, I've lost my licence for a few months before and it sucked.
  20. Sounds juuuust like when the bearing in my alternator went that video did. Now mine runs perfect since replacing it.
  21. FG's do wicked good skids someone did one outfront of my work, definitely modified and yeah the burnout lasted for months and months. Just casual skid during the day.
  22. I really wish I didn't read anything about snowtown, appreciating life right now.
