It's hard mate. 2 years out of FIFO and I still spend money the same way. Just do what I did, buy a 'fast' car and tell yourself you're going to drive it sedately. It helps if you talk about fuel economy as "smiles per 100km" instead of litres.

Yeah screw working away for a month or even at all. I lost friends and relationships. Over all, I'm not the same person as I was when I started in the mining and construction industry (comms fiber tech). The job I had was semi-stressful, sometimes I would get a call informing me I am flying out halfway through my week(s) off on a weekend to fix a fault on site but there was bonus pay in these situations that 'made it worthwhile'. This being said, I don't mind some sites especially when they've got high speed internet and you can download bulk porn LOL

That's not a bad cost considering you probably have enough sound deadening to do the whole car, I'm jealous, I only did my two front doors! I would fit all speakers on a wooden mount/spacer. Not a fan of 5x7's or 6x9's. I fitted 6.5" speakers in the front door with a wooden mount and the rear I'm not sure what I'll do until I have a look.

Under 10k and you'd be running 11s. Being a high kilometer car you might need to spend money before taking it to a tuna. I know I wanted to take my new BF to a tuna but at this stage it's at the normal mechanic who fixes things far cheaper.

Looks like tuesday/wednesday next week to get my car back at this rate because I have to wait till this afternoon for a part. As long as it's the right one, I am STOKED that I'm getting them for a six pack instead of $40 each at wreckers or $300 each new. The wreckers don't have them or they say $1000 plus a free engine. Ordering new would take 3 days to a week.

I don't know what size tyres will fit but are you running high quality tyres? I fitted some nitto invos and once I did a few ks they really stick nicely.

yeah man theres a guy on here that quoted 650-850 to rebuild a turbo depending on what's wrong with it and a little more to port.

My cars got a second hand turbo on it and only thing wrong is the idiot who installed it (didn't notice the turbo he pulled off was flapper modded...lucky I have it to swap exhaust housing). I'd check the play in the shaft and the other things you mentioned.

I'll say again that I got done in a v6 commy for reckless driving (45kmh+ over) You go to the police impound yard for hoon cars and most of them aren't actually hoon cars if I recall the statistics right. get it tuneeeeeeeeeeeddddddddd...I can't talk though as I bought my car with heaps of mods already done.

Awwww that sucks man, only last year I got done for reckless driving in a v6 commodore. f*cking $1100 impound fee for a month, $1650 fine and 6 month license loss all for 47kmh over the limit on the freeway. I cheekily told the judge I didn't see the speed camera so I think that's why my fine was not closer to $1k...... My insurance imposed a $500 excess for the first year with them and the premium is about $100 a year more expensive. I can actually see my self coming to this thread and whinging about a three month car impoundment if I don't pull my head in. The other night the trac ctrl light flashed when I stabbed throttle from 100ks and got upto 150ks so unbelievably fast. Some dick was doing 80ks in the right lane of a private road so I passed them on the emergency lane on their right. on a private road of course and after following them for a while. The reason I mention about getting the Late model camira impounded is because of what Kyle said. Also Kyle: I did find a way to stop the car fluttering, it just took a little getting used to and the ZF has adapted to my driving really nicely! I have all 12 points and didn't get a single fine in my old BA out of luck but I got seriously lucky with that because this BF I'm mostly just cruising around in. moral of the story: get it tuned and yes it was a surprise that you can get done for reckless driving in a car that sounds like a dying cow on wide open throttle, I didn't think I was going that fast.

Cars are bloody expensive!...I have to get the rocker cover ripped off my engine tomorrow for a P1385 (camshaft position actuator) fault code. Obviously 'll get them to look at the wiring to the actuators first. You might have to throw in the towel like I've done and just book it into the mechanic.

yeah I would be confused too, it kinda makes my cars problems sound less serious sorry! I hope for your wallet's sake it's not a head gasket or any major $ repair.

p0356 points to a faulty coil which adds up with the engine shaking. engine shaking exacerbated by possibly flogged engine mounts? lost/losing coolant due to pin hole in heater core? just my 2c on what could possibly be going on here, I'm no expert on diagnosis/mechanical stuff as evidenced in my thread in the 300+ forum however.

haha I sold my BA for similar reasons then bought a sh*tter for ~2 years before getting another turbofalcon. Doesn't really matter what you drive long as it gets ya from A-B. You must be enjoying the fuel economy the honda delivers.

They only ran 6psi of boost stock and dyno at like 190-210RWKW stock (BA-BF) To up the boost reliably people generally a combination of below: tune (sct xcal/etc etc) injectors intercooler fuel pump air intake (turboside for that lovely sound) exhaust valve springs. stick around and have a read on this forum, there is a treasure trove of information.

I've got that turbosmart kompact blow off valve sitting here ready to install but it also vents to atmosphere as well as back into the intake - but the atmo venting can be stopped. I can't plumb it in cause theres a nizpro overboost valve somebody has installed so I need to find another way to install it. I'm happy with how the ute is going mate.
