car stuff today: -boost solenoid maintenance followed by a test drive, made a nice difference. -found a loose earth behind battery near headlight. Cleaned battery terminals again. -tried to lift bumper up, failed to get a decent result, will have to remove. I still want to paint my intercooler black and was thinking about doing it on the car but upon finding this I figure it's best to remove the intercooler, clean it out and apply some kill rust to this nice cutting job. Only going to paint the front facing side of the cooler black.

looked at a B series falcon that bye built the engine on when I was trying to find an xr6 turbo and well all I'll say is the owner of the car didn't have anything nice to say about them. He ended up getting it tuned elsewhere.

im really happy with my bf for $6.5k considering the mods it has but if I had the money I'd have bought a new car!!

was it only the d bushes that were done? what about the sway bar links?

Goto whoop ass wednesday at kwinana motorplex and give it a run down the drags and post up your time. As for tinting I think I've heard 'tko tinting' recommended a few times. Enjoy your beast!

Unless more family in hospital or car breaks I'll see youse there.

I'd be ringing the shop and asking for your money back. Depends how much they charged you but it's still worth asking and maybe even having another workshop write a letter. If you check out some build threads you'll notice a trend in certain quality brands being used. process west/plazmaman/xforce/nizpro/etc for example.

I like the sound of all this mate. It's a nice clean BA you're working on too. With the intercooler, a mate runs the same brand in his 4x4 without issues but can't really comment other than that. Have you managed to find any secondhand parts? I find people semi-regularly drift their modded xr6t into a pole and then flog off all the mods. Inspect any secondhand part carefully. not a fan of that high boost tune, my car runs 15psi for 360kw lol.

Can't get FG XR6t to stop leaking coolant from behind water pump
skidxr6t replied to bbq_xr6's topic in General Tech
Not sure if you should do it to your car but on my old car I used gasket sealant (aviation type I think??) on a o ring that I couldn't get to seal and it worked fine. On my falcon I had a small weep from behind water pump but I was able to tighten up a bolt to fix this. The previous owner had the timing cover off and didn't tension everything up properly. -
mmmm hows the cold weather in perth lately! I love early morning turbocharged drives! This morning I gave car stick in 3rd > abs/trac ctrl/handbrake light flash? > speedo cuts out > restart car and all good. Anyone had this situation? It's all fine if I turn trac ctrl off, car spins wheels and I sh*t myself cause not used to the power I'm enjoying this car too much, almost wrote it off yesterday so have decided I need some training. Probably still alive because I put half decent tyres on the car. I can definitely see why people fit brembos too, I've only ran out of brakes once though. No brake shudder FTW.

mine has a zf tune which makes it chirp wheels between gear changes and still has the lurch so no idea whats going on. I took another members suggestion to drive manual mode and I'm sorta hooked to driving this way mostly now! even when I pull up in 2nd it still has a little lurch when I select 1st.

depends what you define as a private road. theres heaps of private roads in western australia for example.

hey mate it looks like it's possible from looking it up. something about the left going on the right side and right side on left . and on another site: The calipers are almost the same but are not a straight easy swap. Basically they are reversed, BA L is the FG R etc. The FG has the calipers on the back side of the disc, the B series on the front side. The hose connections don't line up either but you could adapt them I guess. The BA slide bolt and saddle etc are a straight swap.

try and not buy M&Ms after watching this. did a cabling job for guy who produces all this and decided to stalk his email/youtube, was kinda surprised as I really like his other music.

Try and find some second hand parts if you are so inclined. Steve, you got most of your mods second hand didnt you? I'd go new for injectors though. definitely upgrade the brakes but don't expect heaps out of a rotor and pad upgrade.

got a cheap cavity inspection camera today for a complex cabling job tomorrow. quality is definitely acceptable. lol at what that looks like on the camera.

This morning I decided to put my foot down on a 100k zone and got to about 140, I then decided it's best to chill so I slowed down and literally 5 seconds after I put cruise control on at the speed limit I passed a speed camera that was sorta hidden (pinged as you see it cause 75m range) The look on my face:

I found in the last few weeks mine ran rough when I filled up with shell 98 and didn't feel right on boost versus BP98. as far as I know, BP refines most of the fuels in WA. My 2c here is possibly there is a difference in the actual service stations (freshness/contamination/etc).

a mate runs a car pc in his 4x4 with an i5 and a big ssd, thing runs quick but fans are loud when under load (hes crazy and 'needed' the i5 lol). I remember a lot of stuffing around to get everything to work 100% from a software perspective. Once it all works it's pretty dammed cool. It was so funny when bluetooth audio streaming wouldn't work from his android but worked fine from my iphone It has FM/GPS/bluetooth/4G internet. One important thing is the computers power supply, I can't remember but it was specifically for car computer use because a cars voltage/etc can fluctuate I believe. I wanted to do this to my old BA cause it had the premium ICC but never got around to it due to the fact the ICC's screen is really low resolution and I also liked to shred tyres so the car spent plenty of time at the mechanics. definitely do a write up on what you've done My_XR6_Turbo, your experience will help others.
