  1. I know we technically didnt have the money to do fiber to each premises here but I do wonder how much maintaining old networks is going to cost compared to the maintenance in the existing FTTP nbn areas.
  2. just finished a course at one of those places where everybody passes no matter what. was funny when I said this to the guy next to me who was used to the legit training centers where everything is hell strict. pretty funny cause everyone was already doing the work that you needed this ticket to do...
  3. Had a client recently who had a power system by redback technologies who reckoned the whole package worked out economically for them. I think he got the panels inverter and battery system all installed at the same time.
  4. I cant recommend EK water pumps, lasted like a day before it stopped pumping. If anyone ever gets an EK water pump get their more expensive ones. there has to be a design flaw in their cheaper ones cause this is the second failure with only a few hours use.
  5. mmmmmmmmm.... casual $3500 for a F!(@#*G monitor. more realistic but even then it's seriously pricey: https://www.pccasegear.com/products/34212/acer-predator-xb271hu-qhd-144hz-g-sync-27in-ips-gaming-monitor id like IPS 27 inch 1440p gsync. but gsync so expensive...
  6. upgrades lately: 1tb 860 evo ssd(finally!) and finally a proper watercooling pump that actually moves the water: https://www.pccasegear.com/products/38863/ek-xres-100-ddc-mx-3-1-pwm-pump-reservoir-combo The temperatures are much better as the old pump was barely moving the water through the loop compared to this new pump. next up I am thinking new motherboard cpu and ram but not sure how much difference it will make. Maybe a fancy monitor should come first.
  7. nbnco has a lot to answer for with what they've done over the entire roll out. the amount of people they could have hooked up with FTTP with the money they're wasting making FTTN, HFC and FTTC work is atrocious.
  8. that was literally the only thing I could think of the haltech working for. also I agree with keith, they're a little late to the party but im sure they'll sell many.
  9. bloody telstra mobile is down, pricks. have to use my optus phone grrrr
  10. 'I had a mate' who used to do skids in his FWD aurion with the 200kw v6 on his red P plates. scared the jesus out of me and the front tyres looked like the rear tyres of a typical XR6t/SS.....
  11. if a p plater isn't doing a skid on every corner then they're not doing it right
  12. Start engine. Disable traction control (press or hold button) select D for drag. Hold the brake down hard and depress the accelerator to the floor. let go of the brake while holding accelerator to the floor and off ya go. remember D is for Drag and to take a big poo before getting in your car to reduce weight for a noticeable gain in performance.
  13. hmmm that doesn't sound so good man. Hopefully the issue is electrical so first thing is do you have access to an obd scan tool or know a mechanic with one? I think some of the supercheap/repco/etc stores have a scan tool if you drive down and ask them they'll come out and plug it in. Without seeing the fault codes you could check for corroded battery terminals and maybe get your battery tested at repco/supercheap/etc. How many ks has the car done? the box could be on it's way out, hopefully not though.
  14. nbn fixed wireless is as if the water corporation decided to turn the water pressure right down so when everyone is using it the water barely flows.
  15. just had a subway footlong, ate it keiths way and im still hungry I blame you keith
  16. The internal fiber cable is quite thin but does have kevlar strands under the sheath to help protect it. I put it down to poor installation practices as most FTTP installs ive seen are terrible. this cable had some damage on it and you can see the kevlar sticking out...somehow it had a slit in the sheath. nbnco installed this cable, I took photo to show home owner incase touching the cable makes the link go down (gotta cover your ass even when its just paranoia)
  17. yep, some areas are absolutely f***ed. all the time I see good improvement then I get ones like this morning where the speed entering the building was the same as the speed entering the modem. Even worse is that over the road is a node and a pillar but of course they're connected to a node 1KM away. This is where I get a little bit angry and political because certain areas need so much work on the copper that it'd actually be cheaper to run fiber to each home. CHEAPER. as for me im getting almost 100/40 roughly 450m from the node and not a single drop out ever. House was rewired myself prior to switching over. that reminds me, I never filled out a compliance certificate for the work on my house.....oops
  18. Just drop car off with bag full of money in it and they'll look after ya hahahahaha
  19. yeah man, heaps of people have internal wiring faults with FTTN nbn. even if they're getting good speeds ive seen some awesome improvements. it's really only 2/10 people that are screwed by it that im finding in my experience in the field. I feel sorry for the technicians working as contractors on nbn network, I know what they get paid and I wouldn't get outa bed for that sorta money.
  20. offtopic cause its not pissing me off kinda hope I turn up, run tests on their line and find theres nothing I can do to speed up their NBN service so I can get outa there hahahah
  21. happy wednesday? sick as a dog and still gotta goto work. if the clients were residential id have called in sick.
