Hey gents
Quick question: The Mamba fasteners you see on fleebay (eBay), are they legit/what they are portrayed to be.? I want to change my manifold bolts out to studs and nuts
Yep I can confirm after fitment of the hi-flow cat, it runs fine without a tune, can even give it a little more throttle than I first thought I’d be able to, she’ll be fine until it’s tuned
So can I fit my venom 3 inch turbo back with hi-flow cat and baby the car around for a few weeks before I go get it tuned, I’ll be buggered if I’m paying someone else $200 to fit it when I can do it myself no worries for free.? ?
Basically can I drive with hi-flow cat without a retune, but take it easy or not.?
First thing, reliable + power = not cheap.!
Secondly, who f*ckn knows what the tuna will do with the cam timing, so that question doesn’t really matter. (It depends on so many factors)
Thirdly, all that stuff you wanna do sounds like about $5k minimum worth of parts/work/labour, is it really worth it.? There are some dirt cheap turbo falcons for sale at the moment, would it be better getting one of those.?
Vacuum leaks are easy to find, use something flammable, eh, ‘brake cleaner’ or ‘start ya bastard’ engine should rev up slightly/ping if a leak is present when you spray the vacuum lines.
Quality is not cheep, crudd is not expensive, can be a tough call, I think mine was about $275, has lasted 5 years with no drama until recently, oil seal is leaking now, probably be cheaper to replace the whole jack than repair the cylinder and seal.
I have a left hand front lower control arm bush that is knackered, gives me a slight brake shudder from high speeds (140ish down to about 80, then goes away) and the odd small knock every now and again, might be worth checking
Replace the hoses man, plain and simple, more likely the rubber in the hose breaking down and becoming brittle, as you squeeze it, it cracks, that'll be what you're feeling, seen it 100 times before in all makes and models of car.
Hey, sorry guys, yeah worked a treat, ended up using terminal 5, compression varied slightly from 180psi in cylinder 1 and 2, and 175 for 3, 4, 5 and 6, so yeah not to bad for an engine with over 265,000km on her :D
Trying to do a compression test on my 09 fg xr6t, got her all apart, coild and plugs out, gauge hooked up ready to go, turn the key and nothing happens, just a click of a relay (assuming starter relay? and no, there is nothing wrong with the relay)
What am I missing?
Something to do with that auto start crap.? How you flick the key and it'll crank the engine for you till it starts.?
little help would be awesome please ??
Well after month and month and many many km's since the issue first began, finally replaced my ignition coils as one was breaking down under moderate load, anything over half throttle she'd piss and fart about, spark breaking down and carrying on
went for a quick thrash with new plugs and could and god damn I'd forgotten how quick these cars are, it's been so long since I've been able to full throttle the engine, couldn't get anything above about 8/10 psi, now she sings to her full potential again of 15psi ???? Can't wait to thrash it again tomorrow on the way to work
Yeah the float doesn't feel to bad, when cold anyway, haven't felt it when warm, she'd tighten up marginally I'd assume, that's how I like em anyway, tight and warm ???
Any ideas on the marks on the impellor wheel? I'm guessing particles hitting it at high speed, 260,000km+ on the car/turbo, probably due for a birthday
Found the impellor housing had some oil laying in it this afternoon, looks like I'm up for a new seal/bearings, any ideas of the best place to get a turbo rebuild kit for a stock 2009 fg ute turbo.?
Haha 'local wrecker' is 300km away. Yeah I figured they wouldn't bloody miss ya hey. Guess I'll start trawling internet pages in search of a good deal. Thanks mate
No need to get under the car at all, that sh*ts for amatures. Take the airbox and intake pipe off to where it joins the pipe over the engine (FG), once airbox is removed the oil filter is right there and you can reach the sump plug by reaching down the side of the engine and over the K-frame. 15mm spanner = happy days, job done, no rolling on the floor for me ??
Cracked 240,000km the other day, well on the way to the quarter tonne.! Gave her a birthday with a nice oil change, thrashed daily and still loves it ??
