  1. I have the car booked in for test on Saturday. The tester tells me that it will be a noise test only. Apparently the N on the reference number stands for noise. I am thinking the cat might be alright as it's just bigger. Should still be doing its job emissions wise. Anyway I'll let you all know how the test goes on Saturday.
  2. Thanks Does anybody know the ratio's for the 5 speed box?
  3. Really Mr 4.0, wow. Im thinking I will take it in, get it tested and if I have to put another muffler on then I will. Hopefully it will be as simple as that. Probably good its happened now. I intewnd to mod and tune soon.
  4. Nope no booze bus. Only had the car 6 days. Mods are : FPV intercooler Clutch Hi flow cat centre muffler removed (just found out tonight) As far as I know its running standard tune, so emissions should be uneffected. I think?
  5. I read, on this forum I think that police can issue one of these if the see you drive past and think "hmm, that's loud". However the guy at the EPA I just spoke to says the notice may have been issued to the previous owner. Im pretty sure the car is legal, its not as loud as my AC Cobra replica and that is legal. The guy at the EPA was decent though. Before I could ask he said he would try and get me an extension as it was short notice and nearly Xmas etc.
  6. Hi Folks Purchased my 2003 Ba XR6T on the 12th December. I have driven it twice. It does not seem that loud to me. I received this letter in the mail today.
  7. Good point
  8. I am contemplating doing this with a windcreen washer bottle myself. I will just use a couple of windscreen spray nozzles mounted on the grill. I see some comments saying that the water has to be atomised. I think that is for when you are putting water inside the intake. im pretrty surre if you atomise the spray on the outside it wont even reach the intercooler before it evaporates. I used to have a sh*t car that would overheat badly on hot days. I would go to a servo, fill the squeegy bucket and throw the water on my radiator. The temp guage needle would move from overheat to below normal in about 3 seconds. Water on the race track. With a couploe on spray nozzles im pretty sure it will all evaporate and you want see a single drop hit the road. Sounds good using the boost to trigger the spray, I never thought of that. I was going to put a micro switch against the pedal so it would spray whenever I put the pedal to the floor (same system as they use in basic nitrous kits) So the water would spray at WOT (if my foots not to the floor I dont need the cooling). This would be extremely cheap to do and depending on driving habits would mean less filling of the bottle. People who say it is the evaporation that cools are I believe correct. Hence the meth/water mix might be even better as the alcohol will speed up evaporation. Although the meth might evaporate from our water bottle in a day or so. As far as I understand it the metal transfers heat energy to the water which causes the atoms in the water to move faster and get further apart, which turns the water into steam which then carries the heat energy away. One question. Do we need to get our cars tuned with the spray in operation or will the air temp sensor get the ECU to take care of adding extra fuel and boost?
  9. Thanks for the advice guys
  10. 17/235/45 Only 5 speed BA's fell within my budget, plus this one was fairly low Km's 113,000
  11. Hi Keddy, I have yet to thoroughly check but was told the car has heavy duty clutch, Fpv intercooler and high flow cat. The rpm seems a little high for 3.23, can anybody confirm this?
  12. Hi all, Just purchased a BA xr6t 5 speed today. Driving it home on the freeway I notice that in 4th gear the rpm is just under 3000. In 5th it dropped to a little over 2000. Is this normal? Or has the diff ratio been moddified? Is the standard ratio 3.45 I have tried searching the forum but I cant find the gear ratios for the 5 speed, can anybody point me in the right direction. Regards Cameron02
  13. Hello all, I just purchased a 2003 BA XR6T 5 speed manual. The car has a few mods which seem to suggest it was heavily mofified in the past. Maybe one of you in forum land may know the car and can tell me how it was previously setup? Its blue (plueprint) and has heavy duty clutch, FPV intercooler and High flow cat and exhaust (cat back I think). My assumption is that it had other mods in its past. Im not sure why you would put in a bigger intercooler unless you were putting in beefier injectors etc. to enable much higher boost. But maybe im wrong? Opinions? Regards Cameron02
