About Red R6

  1. Bearing might be going, I would check the shaft play
  2. Considering the real cost price of one from china I can get them for im seriously considering ordering one
  3. I have just recently had a wheel alignment done to my car as the steering wheel was pointing to the left and now its pointing to the right, anyone know why right after a alignment it would do this again?. I had much higher expectations from them since they seem to be well regarded.
  4. Why not get a roll or two of exhaust tape and wrap the intake pipes then stick a temp probe just before the intake manifold and see if it makes a difference?
  5. Iv been told that tractor sound is because some exhaust leaks past the seperator and goes out through the wastegate screamer pipe. If you had a external gated turbo you wouldnt have this problem.
  6. I had a screamer on a previous car after a week I got it welded back into the exhaust
  7. Its not about right or wrong I just want people to understand there is a risk by not having some form of bov. I posted the garrett link due to the amount of turbo's they handle each year and is a good source for all sorts of info (if you want to get right into turbos they have compressor maps there too so you can pick the exact turbo you need rather then going through what you have in your sig "You need to replace your tuner. Pretty common fault on these cars"). With regards to the thread it may be hard to find exact cause due to the possible sources of failure as you would know and the fact that I doubt many here would have send their broken turbo's to places like MTQ or Garrett when they fail to find the exact cause.
  8. The reason I say different mods is 2 psi will put less pressure on the turbo the compared the other extreme 30psi. Can you understand what im trying to say?
  9. The point im trying to get across is that there is the potentual we all have different mods and boost levels and it isnt somthing we need to consider before removing the bov. Turbosmart link - The pressure within the intercooler piping continues to increase until the compressor reaches its pressure limit. When it reaches this limit, it cannot flow the air any more and the built up air pressure inside the intercooler and pipe begins to flow backwards through the compressor which is trying to flow air forwards. The result of this reversal flow of air is the immediate deceleration of the turbocharger and a high load on the bearings which support the compressor/turbine shaft. At low turbo speeds and low pressures, the deceleration of the turbo and the load on the bearings is low, I.e. a small amount of fluttering at low engine speeds and throttle movements is negligible. At high turbo speeds and high pressures, compressor surge during a gear change can be damaging to the bearings of the turbocharger as the deceleration rate of the turbocharger is high and the reversal airflow through the compressor is high
  10. Read the conclusion above it support garretts view turbo smart and GFB's view too http://www.turbosmart.com.au/technical-articles/flutter-compressor-surge/
  11. So you agree now that compressor surge does affect turbo life?
  12. Jumper leads Is actually a really good idea, nothing worse then having some leads are not quite long enough
  13. Its not like we won lotto or anything we saved it up in their bank account then withdrew it and invested it, still doesnt seem right to me but we will see what happens
  14. Yea, im going to try the credit union through work they seem ok, if that fails I might post and ask for broker recommendations
  15. Im not sure about a broker, Last time I used one they tried to screw me on interest rates, they must have throught I was stupid or somthing
