  1. pulled my turbo off to put new studs/nuts in and im tossing up whether to put on a 12psi actuator or leave the stock one. currently flash tuned at 12psi with the stock actuator so I imagine putting a 12psi actuator in and connecting via boost solenoid could see some major overboosting seeing as ecu still assuming stock actuator spring rate. thinking of bypassing solenoid and letting new actuator be controled directly from vac line from compressor so should open at 12 (or thereabout) just wondering how much boost leak will occur before 12psi and if this can be set by the preload on the arm. appreciate your advice. cheers
  2. thanks for the advice lads. yeh I mean ive had my ba since 2010 and only noticed the rough idle after a spirited drive a handful of times. she's getting a bit long in the tooth now so right foot doesnt hammer the firewall as much as it used to anyway! I think ill just keep to the mantra if its not broken dont fix it
  3. thanks I was just trying to determine if there is a massive jump in quality/performance between bf and AM or if bf ones will do the job to solve my current problem I.e. ba springs turn to spaghetti after 5k rpm :( if it means saving $250 I will skimp it
  4. Hi guys I realise this topic has probably been done to death but just a couple of basic (hopefully) questions. First question: is it worthwhile putting bf mk2 valve springs into ba mk1 barra240? (I.e. I don't want to spend $260 on heavy duty springs if I can get bf ones for good price) 2nd question: if buying used bf mk2 springs is there an easy way to tell they are in fact out of bf mk2?
  5. Hi guys from what I've gathered reading above a rough idle after a high rpm squirt is a tell tale sign of rooted valve springs? Anyone recommend someone reputable that will install new springs gold coast/Brisbane region
  6. Anyone using an MTA cartridge?
  7. if you have a 5spd manual be weary of upping the power..
  8. I experienced this and thought it was my exhaust turned out the t5 gearbox was farked. Blew up around a month later. Good times
  9. Not sure if it can be legally done but have you considered converting the icc display and functions to be incorporated into the tablet
  10. If you're half mechanically minded you can put a t56 in yourself. I got a decent 2nd hand one for around 1700. Make sure it comes with the yoke to suit!
  11. Defs put a t56 the t5 will sh*t itself sooner or later like mine did :S
  12. Drive it around the block and it will level out
  13. Noted. Thanks for the advice
  14. A great shame. I look forward to getting one of the last Aussie built falcons and cruising it to Bathurst passing all the VW, skodas, citroens, ssangyongs etc along the way
  15. Replace coil packs
  16. Must have been some bad fuel or it's cleared itself out because its back to its best and frying those rear tyres loving these cooler nights
  17. Just out of interest is the e-boost easy enough to wire/plumb up yourself? Might put one in
  18. By off the shelf I just mean a pre-loaded SCT flash tune. Has run fine on 12psi for last couple years. Must be those plug gaps. Cheers
  19. Had 3qtr tank so plenty of fuel.. Will check plug gaps. I've been reading that maybe over boost is cause so might look at replacing actuator. Mainly just under load in 3rd and 4th. It was fairly noticeable tonight and it was a fair bit cooler tonight.. Car was fully warmed up though. 160000km on clock. Do dodgy valve springs have this effect or do they cause or a more sudden failure?
  20. Hi Guys, Did a search but not having much luck. Car recently started spluttering/backfiring under wide open throttle in 3rd and 4th gear from about 4000rpm onwards. Havent gone quick enough to see if same thing in 5th and 6th but would assume so. Funny thing is it pulls strong in 1st & 2nd through full rev range. Could it be starving for fuel? Replaced plugs and igniters about 20000km ago and fuel filter about 5000km ago. Specs as follows: '03 BA xr6t sedan 6spd man 12psi off the shelf tune K&N filter in stock box Additional snorkel Always 98 pulp (bp ultimate usually)
  21. Well managed to bolt a t56 in over the weekend. Gearing feels okay even with 3:46 diff. Had to lower centre bearing around 10mm. Couldn't get to reverse sensor so only got 3L oil through filler. I read somewhere about jacking passenger side only to get extra litre in ill try that next weekend. Need to figure out how to wire reverse lockout can still persuade it into reverse without lockout wired up..
  22. Is it possible to get new studs in without removing oil/water lines to turbo? I tried the other and gave up pretty quickly..
  23. Greg, once the 31 spline slip yoke is installed was the BA tail shaft still right length to use with t56. Is it just the centre bearing height to adjust?
  24. Nothing like sparking a good old economics debate. What about economies of scale and supply & demand
  25. Thanks for the feedback all. I had a quick look on facebook but didn't see the t56?? 2500 is probably at the upper limit of my budget. Looks like 6060 is well out of the question..
