  5. So if it's the only car I have access to... Could I drive it on weekends? A call to vicroads tomorrow I think
  6. Thanks for the replies guys, ill give Vic roads a call to clear the grey areas up... Also I'll look around at other cars, but to be honest the whole turbo diesel thing is starting to bother me. A really helpful forum guys, thanks for the advice!
  7. Hey guys, 1st post here... I currently own a 2002 Nissan Patrol ZD30 which has currently givin me a lot of trouble which has got me thinking about future auto choices. I am currently on my P Plates (Green) and I think I'm either off them in 6 months. or 1y and 6m... can't remember how long it's for. Now I know what you're all thinking, ...this is just another young hot headded hoon wanting to drive a fast car. This is by no means the case and I'm certainly not a hoon. I've owned a HiLux dualcab for 1 year 3.0 straight diesel (slowest car on earth but was good for what I wanted at the time...) and currently the Patrol 3.0TD (currently giving me grief). Honestly you'd be faster walking to you destination that the speed that those cars will get you there.. but they've served a good purpose. - Now, Here's my Dilema; I currently work for a domestic construction company (for my old man, I'm 2nd going on 3rd yr apprentice), and I'm required to regulary tow a trailer that can weigh close to 1.9 - 2 ton. On weekends I try as often as I can to get out on the trail bike I live in the suburbs just out of the city (Melbourne), and I can't park in carparks that are underground (real pain in the ass!) ..... You can see where this is going... A Ford XR6t Ute is perfect. I can tow up to 2,300kg with the turbo, and only 1.2t with the N/A On top of that, I can park in carparks, don't have to tow a trailer when transporting my bike and I'll have enough room to take the redicoulus amount of tools I need with me to work. I only am ever really driving by myself or with the girlfriend and with out me towing the work trailer to the tip and back, and almost out of a job. I hope that you can see the other side to this stoy and I'm really not just out there to rip some skids. Is there an exemption in any way that can allow me to drive this car, (even if it's just the working week days)? Thanks for your help, James
