Heard the same thing, I had fitted mine then went for a tune and he said the baby turbo prefers the stock pipe, go figure. I trust him. Not worth it just for the note
I took the supplied scaling data to Bruce and he also said it was messed up. To Dave's credit he offered to have a chat but that offer was politely refused. Either way, I'm happy with the outcome.
That would be a convenient conclusion but I think Heinrich knows his way around Ford turbos. I'll ask him next time I see him, might have been something particular with my setup.
Mods are PW stepped cooler, 1000cc injectors, Streetfighter intake, PWR heat exchanger and a Venom cat. In no way does the delete pipe cause any of the issues above. My tuner said I could leave it on if I preferred the note but said he could get better results / more response with it stock. Something about too much flow for the baby turbo? Ended up with 320kw @ 15psi.
I bought one of these (not PW) and my tuner wasn't too pleased. He said performance wise it's no good for the small FG turbo. He tuned with it on, then told me the above. I got him to take it off and touch up the tune and it was a bit more responsive. Maybe someone with a bit of know how could chime in.
@Z2TT the car is plenty scary at 320rwkw. Maybe because I started at 250rwkw. I have a little bit of lag up to 60km/h but that is due to the intake muffler delete, then it takes off. Will put the muffler back on and go back for a touch up tune and I'll be happy enough, for the time being
I pulled 318.9kw with the stock fg turbo today at about 16psi. PW stage 1 stepped cooler, venom bolt on cat, 1000cc injectors, BMC pod filter / street fighter air box. *disclaimer - south australian
