Thanks K31th! Heat is not a tool that ever crosses my mind to use. But worked perfectly. I've got new bushes & tubes anyway so I'll install them while I'm here.

Replacing all the Leaf spring bushes today and installing set of Jayson Scotts tramp rod kits. Problem with front eye bush though. Seems as if the metal crush tube is seized onto the front eye bolt. Should I clean it up and reuse or get the 10lb hammer out and keep flogging it?

Can't say I wasn't expecting to hear that but I was really hoping for otherwise. The drivers side is perfect, just the passenger side. The door seems to be fine aswell, just the sill. Does anyone know how the structure is manufactured under there? Maybe it's been scooping water from under the car into a crevice or something? Maybe water was getting in behind the door seal and funnelling to the bottom, seaping between the sheets of steel. I'll try stick my head around this weekend and get a closer look at everything. I'll just make a mess trying to patch it myself and it's my only mode of transport so I think I'll need to see a pro. [emoji24]

So I'm a little bit devastated to have uncover this to say the least and at the worst possible time. [emoji26] Was cleaning the Interior for the first time this year and noticed the paint bubbles and rust bleeding through the sill. A couple minutes with angry pliers uncovers a rusty cavern about 5mm deep but it would easily double in size and get deeper if I kept picking at it. Also rust patches along the door seam under the door rubber. It's been a few warm dry days since opening it up but there's still moisture in the hole and I'm too scared to keep digging. Is a professional autopsy and reconstructive surgery my only real option. [emoji24]

Like those diy ebay exhaust cut off valves or like in those Varex units?

Gave her a quick wash but couldn't find the chamois, however I can confirm the new turbo blower works great for a blow dry! [emoji108]Needs more dose though.

Black ceiling and new leather boots are on my to-do list! Leaving them till I actually have time to spend on enjoying my ute though. Finally fit new brake switch last night, left for work this morning, 😕 still playing up. Stressed about it all day. Just now thought to check the fuse aaaand I'm an idiot lol. Got alignment done yesterday by a local mechanic/suspension specialist and not the tyre place I usually go. He packed the factory mounts as much as he could and it's a lot better but camber is still a little out but close enough. We'll do a camber kit next alignment. I'm thinking the rears wore down badly while they were on the front prior and were rotated to the back where the skids weight of the rear end just abused the weakened inside edge causing them to split.

Found cause of the bulk boost. Nipple on the wastegate was loose and not sealing. Brake switch hasn't tuned up so I'm still manually switching on my Parkes as brake lights. Tried to remedy by sh*tty idle by cleaning out my throlle body, sensors & intake area with carby cleaner to no avail. Also tried spraying fluids and pouring water over the intake manifold gasket to see if there's an air leak but determined nothing. [emoji2369] Still stumped on that one.

Had heard previously the brake switch was a common problem, & have just ordered one. Haven't looked into the camber kits yet, will get to it sometime this week hopefully.

Should have gone back & burned the whole tree!

What Did You Do To Break on Your Car Today? So road trip went well 😕 1) Roadside stick left a dent in passenger side door. 2) Just as I got back over the Clyde, 400km from home; threw error codes for ABS & DSC, lost cruise control and after further investigation, brake lights are out. (im assuming break switch?) 3) I'm now running 24pound boost!!! 😰 should be 16pound and I'm sh*tting myself lol. Any ideas people? 😅

I reckon most of the wear on the rear tyres probally happened when they were on the front for the first 12 months. Then general wear & extra weight stressed the weakened edge once moved to the back for the following 10 months. Just a theory though. [emoji2369]

What is this camber kit you speak of @masda74 and how will it change my world?
-
Checked over the utes fluids & such just now before a road trip to the coast tomorrow morning. Thought the tyres had plenty of tread left on em, after closer inspection of the inside edges they did not. All 4 are stuffed & the rears had begun to split. [emoji58] Trailer wheels & both spares will suffice untill I find spare money under the couches. [emoji24]

Working on fabricating a cage for my new 2nd battery location. Does anyone know the go with this fuel tank filler breather line? I wanna pull the hose off the while tank fitting and replace cause it's too short for me but I don't wanna break the plastic fitting. [emoji37] I've got about 1500km holiday driving and a dyno tune to go to this week and don't wanna I <3 Bananas it up lol

Momentarily thought I tore my exhaust open Tuesday jumping a gutter (trying to) Turns out it was the front 2 turbo nuts missing [emoji28] & landing on the exhaust cracked the seal open enough for me to hear it. [emoji106] Just went to do them up now & found a 3rd nut was finger loose [emoji33] good thing I heard it when I did! Saving a photo of this setup so I know how to do them up next time, such a C#%@ of a spot!

Specifically for my FG Turbo turbo ute if someone would be kind enough to measure for me! But if people have specs for other models this post can serve as a repository. Wheel center to guard measurements plus maybe bump-stop to axle measurements for us tray back utes. Been playing with my new Shockworks coilovers (loving them btw!) but my new worksite involves 6 speed humps that I'm scraping bumper & about 1m of sides on, so I've gotta jack the ute back up & I'm wondering what standard ride height actually is since I've always been overweight.

Went to replace drive shaft coupling I ordered a few weeks ago. Wrong part. Bolt centres don't line up & flange on the crush tube is too big. Now to abuse the ebay seller.
-
Yea I did the same install with the same battery lol. Made sure I had accessable posts too, for jump starting etc.

This week on Turbo Tradie Life: Pulled exhaust back out to find & patch any leaks & there was only 3 pinholes which is better than I expected. Then painted black for maximum stealth! Went in for quick wheel alignment; needs shimming & one shock is leaking so I'm hunting for an upgraded set 4corners. Also my tails haft coupling is cracking so I'd better swap that out. Contacted ShockWorks but having trouble justifying the 2k even though they look awesome & would probally be great for trying to tame my boatymcboatface of an overweight axle tramping ute. [emoji28] Koni sport adjustable set on eBay for $930 & Tyre shop priced me supply $750 for peddlers gas shocks. Got 100k & 8years out of factory shocks, what's the lifespan of good aftermarket gear? Leaning towards the Koni's atm.

Naa never did, Its just become a regular noise that I'm immune to now Also I stripped one of those long bolts super easy ages ago when I put this bracket thingy on & just swapped them out for slightly longer hex bolts

Not today. Just a few things over the last couple of weekends but have been too lazy/late for a drinking appointment to post on time. Got my exhaust finished & it's all working micky [emoji108] Will pull it off in a couple weeks to check for any leaks and hit it with some exhaust paint to cover my sh*tty welding [emoji28] Fabricated some fully custom Mudflaps! And installed a 60w 'reversing light' Needless to say I hate both reversing & the dark.
-
Yep spot on! Replaced the 8"muffler that did both pipes with a 6" & 4" on each quiet pipe. Hoping it will end up quieter than what it is currently.

Have been working on this since the start of the week. Customised from the axle back with Quad 4" tips & exhaust valve setup. 90% fabricated & tacked together, just waiting for a pair of V-band clamps so I can hopefully weld it up & finish next weekend. ? Back to work tomorrow
