  1. I washed my chariot today and took it for a short drive, and its weird. Sometimes it goes like a absolute rocket, and other times it feels like it could do with another 12psi. I have taken off at lights, and it has absolutely screamed, but today, I gave it about 3/4 throttle, and I think my xf on gas would have beaten it! Somedays it flies, somedays it crawls. Really weird. And it was a relatively cold day here today.
  2. Gregory ford in the ACT has a GTP in blood orange, the dealer principal drives it. He has put a Herrod exhaust on it, and maybe I think herrod wheels. He also opted for the stripes. Love his work.
  3. I am a little pissed that I cant put the GT bits on my turbo (pedals, brakes etc), but I am just selfish!!!!! (and a cheapskate!) But I do wholeheartly agree with brett's post. There is nothing worse than people that copy. If you want the boss 260 or 290, go buy a car that is supposed to have these motors in them! Or if you want the turbo motor, go buy a xr6T! Is it as bad in the "subaru" department? (rx's turning into wrx's)
  4. My first.. '74 XB panel van, bought it for $1200, spent wayyyyy to much on it, and I still have it!! My second... 78 XC GXL Pursuit, dad actually bought this from the factory, and traded it on a EB, and I bought it back in mid 96. spent wayyyy to much on it as well, and I still have that too!! My third.. XF ex taxi. I think it has over 2 million kays on it!!! I didnt pay anything for it and it is my daily runabout. Still got that too!!! And then theres the BA turbo. I havent checked the carport lately, I hope ive still got it!!! I would never sell any of them, they are too sentimental to me. They are all different in their own ways.
  5. I will be going, canberra convoy sounds like a cracker of a idea! Do we go the night before? Can get cheap accommodation over the net these days..... If we go just for a look I dont think its necessary to stay overnight but would if everyone else wants to. If we are displaying the cars we would have to be there early, so overnight is virtually essential. Thoughts and opinions??
  6. my xc (ms702) was built in 1978 if that helps...... so was my panelvan (ms701), it was built way back in '74. ahh those were the days...
  7. im up for the canberra convoy! not quite sure yet if it will be in the xr6t. Maybe something else.......
  8. umm, actually I was just told... looks like if u want to put gt bits on your xr, you cant, unless you find a corrupt spare parts dealer! and id say, fspd will be keeping a very close eye on gt part sales.... looks like we will have to wait until a gt is written off.... :tears:
  9. who told u this charliewood? not doubting what u are saying, dont get me wrong, but I sell ford parts for a living and I havent been told anything like this!
  10. some news on the pedals themselves. you dont actually have to buy new pedals, the fpv pedals are just different pads on the brake and accellerator pedals. you only have to buy the rubber bits if u know what I mean. looks pretty easy to install, only have to drill 1 hole in the brake pedal itself. now all we need is some part numbers.......

    Heres Some News

if any of youse read zoom religiously, I think street tuna had something to do with a twin turbo xg xr6 ute. it went very well and was extremely smooth and driveable. im going to my archives now and gonna try and dig it out! agree with harasn, ford has just pumped $$$$$$ into a single system, strongly doubt a twin is on the horizon. but stranger things have happened....
  12. no, im almost certain the tab under your tissue box holder is for the auxillary audio in. p/n BA 289455 AA.
  13. id STRONGLY recommend getting a second opinion from a reputable tyre outlet eg goodyear, bridgestone tyre dealers and asking them. id personally recommend seeing a goodyear dealer, they sell tyres to ford dealers... well they do where I come from anyway!!!!
  14. as a matter of interest, we got a pusuit ute in today (290kw), in auto. are we the first dealer to get one?

    Avo Upgrade

Ford(and many other car companies) make LOTS of money out of genuine spare parts! lots is a understatement!!!!!
  16. btw, any big secrets in pulling the front door trims off? just use a bit of common sense?
  17. ford concerntrating on the front end kinda makes sense. when I used to compete in iasca (car stereo comps), they always had the opinion that your car should copy a concert hall. all the music comes from the front, with the rear used for fill only. you never went to a concert and turned your back to the band, unless you got drunk and fell over!!!

    My New Wheels

wow, I increased my rolling diameter, exactly how much I dunno. my wheels have definately thrown my speedo out. I know you can adjust it, just gotta find some motivation somewhere..... guess a speeding ticket would change that quicksmart!!!

    My New Wheels

yea I agree the vu4uormeorwhoever looks terrible with the 24's on back, if it had 24's all round however.... I think the hillier ute might of had 20in momo's now come to think of it. my bad... after looking at mine, I wonder how they did it.
  20. genuine part number is ................... BA 9601 A .............. expensive pillow, retails for $37.40!!!! V8 and 6cyl have all got the same air filters according to trade cat. LPG is different for some reason....

    My New Wheels

in 5 years time, 19's and 20's will be the norm. we will be driving around on 24's and 25's. shudder to think about tyre prices!!! I put 18's on one of my falcons 5 years ago and I got instant legend status! now they dont even cut the mustard next to 19's!!! I dont think the ba's could take much bigger than 20's, my 19's only just miss one of the suspension arms on the front end. look at the top of your tyre, and you will know what I mean. I cant fit my little finger between the tyre and this arm when the car is on a hoist. I think 20's would foul this arm. I'd like to think I will find out!!!!
  22. stock number or part number? sometimes the two can differ greatly!!!! I can get u a part number easy peasy if u want it.
  23. I never "lose" any sleep, im up all night driving my cars and working on em!!!! Question time peoples. if any car with a ecu (aftermarket or oem), doesn't have a maf, how does the ecu know how much air is in the intake pipes (including the turbo/supercharger)? and how much air is in the intake system before the throttle body? if my stupid theory is correct (probably not!), making a bov vent to the atmo on cars without maf's shouldnt affect tuning drastically, because the ecu hasnt accounted for the air in the intake system before the throttle body. the ecu simply doesnt know how much air is in there. unless there is another sensor somewhere? venting all my bovs to the atmosphere didnt affect my tuning 1 iota. but I deal mainly with centrifugal superchargers. maybe turbo's are different because blowers are always boosting? someone shed light pls!!!!
  24. correct me if im wrong (and I know youse will), but if the xr6t runs a map sensor (manifold absolute pressure), it shouldn't make a difference, because the car only reads the amount of air in the manifold itself (after the throttle body). as opposed to maf (mass air flow) sensor which reads all the air entering the motor from the airbox onwards (before the throttle body). does anybody know what the xr6t uses? maybe the xr6t uses both sensors? I cant see any sort of maf sensor. but I am pretty sure I have seen map sensors on previous falcons. can anyone shed some light?
