  1. Maybe groups of us just need to rent awesome apartments in South Perth and live together with like 4 per apartment, pay bugger all in rent, live like kings in our fully sik bachelor pads, and spend all our monies on super fast turbo upgrades and ride round in groups all the time.
  2. What I find so hard now is when you look at an FG X for instance, or an FPV of any sort, and you are looking at 40+ grand for a fairly new/brand new one, say you go and spend 20 and do it right, brakes, suspension, tyres, and a handful of bolt on mods, you are at 60 grand +. If you go all out you'd be looking at a total of 70-80 (to do it right). If you did it with a brand new car you'd be looking at that or higher again. When you get to that price you start looking at few year old M3's/M5's/C63's/Lotus'/AMG Mercs/S+RS Audi's etc... I think the next car I'm gonna have to do some big research and driving to see if the extra - on high end luxury cars/low end supercars - is worth it, or if I'd rather have a really nice ford that's a fair bit quicker.
  3. Well mate, even though you gotta sell it, Electronic Tech Submariner sounds pretty awesome! Shame to hear though mate.
  4. I was one of these 'Crazy Kids', at 17/18 rolling around in a modded BFII F6, except I was earning 600-700 a week and paying about 150, so it was alright And I wasn't some unintelligent bogan. I don't think I can really boast about the Supercheap Auto job, but better than an unintelligent bogan I think Then by 19, I was in an modded FG with a built motor haha. Now I'm 20, with an amazing job, with still f*ck all money and in a bit of debt haha. As much as I loved my cars, I wish I had waited. If I saved and was smarter I'd be in one of them now, wouldn't have had to sell it, and I'd probably own it by now. But, we live and learn, I wont be doing that again anytime soon.
  5. Where the hell does one go for sound deadening their boot and/or doors?
  6. Agreed, this is a fantastic thread. Gives a lot of people currently modifying or looking to modify a great idea of things to do and not to do. My favourite mod would have to be 'ZUTUTUTUTUTU'.... No not really, although I do enjoy a good flutter. Anyways, I have to agree with what a lot of people have said. Doing things right the first time is always the way to go, even if it costs a little more. I've been a stinge on things and regretted it later. Brakes are a great mod to go for. If I was throwing a heap of cash it's the first thing I'd do. Definitely see a fair few cheap(ish) brembo sets up here and there, or there's plenty of threads with peoples experiences on different brands like DBA/RDA/Project Mu's/Bendix etc. Another great modification is suspension. My FG had only new shock absorbers and was lowered on springs, didn't even have coilovers or any substance modification and it made a huge difference to the feel and mainly body roll of the vehicle. I would recommend adjustable suspension as you can obviously fine tune the feel you want, however something as simple as new shocks and lowered springs make a world of difference on their own in my opinion. Believe the Koni's are fairly good, have heard good things about the XYZ's (I believe sienna_T is the man to speak to), and believe Tein to be a good brand. Always go safety mods, all the things that seem to go wrong and will go wrong. Bushes are an issue that I would say the majority of us have dealt with, changing them early on is always good if you are looking to mod a lot. As Boris (Z2TT) said, the flex plate is another great thing to sort out early on as I believe the factory is a 2mm. I've used the 9mm chrome-moly atomic flex plate and was pleased with it. Obviously different models have different common problems, so read up and ask questions, but I would always recommend doing everything right the first time if you are looking to keep the car. Don't bodge out because of price or you'll find yourself later down the track spending the extra money on top which you could have done in the first place.
  7. 12.1 in a stock FG? Really? that's bloody incredible.... Surely that's one of the quickest stock times ever run? And not to be a dick but... Are you sure its stock? haha. 12.1 is a great time! and Definitely right, don't think you'd ever see a VF R8 run close to that.
  8. Bit like how people went and bought $80,000 5.) GT's and then ford decided to throw on an FG X body, R Spec suspension and some XR8 badges and sell it for 20-30 grand less. Must have been horrible. However I'm sure many people are still happier they bought an FPV, not a ford, and I'm sure many like the look better. I think the idea of a modded XR8 or a modded 310kw XR6 Turbo would be incredible.
  9. Yeah, I was just thinking that I couldn't be the only one thinking about a Barra turbo mustang I'd be all over that.
  10. Oh, maybe I'm mistaken, thanks Peter And sorry for chucking you under the bus Stripes haha.
  11. I just recall you (I think it was you anyways mate haha) writing that it would never ever come out. I'm hoping so too, it would be a great way to send off the Charged Coyote V8 and the Turbo Barra 6 motors.
  12. Yeah that's the article I read on it. So keen for this, and the new Mustang. If only they would bring out a Turbo barra mustang....
  13. I'm pretty sure it was .Stripes. who reckons it would never happen? Correct me if I've wrong ahaha
  14. Hey Guys, Sooooo, I've been hearing that ford may have confirmed a final edition XR6 Turbo. I know there were many people who said that it would NEVER happen, but it looks as though it's happening. Quite similar to the new XR8's, it seems as though it's basically an F6 R Spec in an FG X XR6 Turbo body. 310kw, F6 GT3582R turbo, Brembo's, R-Spec suspension, and apparently starting at under 50,000. Don't know about anyone else.... But I'm super keen.
  15. Mick, worth a crack speaking to Joe at JLC Auto Care, he's on Parkinson st/lane/rd (whatever it is) in O'Connor, right near House Of Power. He worked at ford for a bazillion years, I always took my cars to him for any general stuff. Definitely knows what he's doing (especially with fords) and is really well priced. Dan even drives all the way from Leederville to use him for a lot of things now haha.
  16. As Marco (Masda) stated, people can mod the factory setup to get a louder sort of sound. More boost will always help with the noise as well. Again, many people have opinions on good brands, I for one am always a fan of Process West gear. Also intake is always a good mod, even on factory turbo/tune etc you can get a nice intake sound with an aftermarket intake. Again I love the factory side process west intake (not turbo side). Depends what you are going for, sound/performance etc. There's many questions and many answers, it's generally a pretty friendly place here and you should be able to find most things somewhere or other. Speaking to workshops can always help with any questions you are unsure of. What state are you in? Generally there's a handful in each state people will recommend over others due to experience and tuning ability's. And welcome
  17. That seems to be the going thing with Invo's, great to begin with but wear and lose traction too fast. Could the rumour of the now lower quality also be due to people being able to find them at better prices?
  18. We need to make a separate "WA Spotted Thread" haha. Spotted silver FG Turbo with the plates 'ON PSI', works across the road from me in Cannington. Looks nice, XR8 bonnet, BFII Twisty rims. Anyone's on here?
  19. Yeah I had that same reaction. 3 Places in perth for 245/30/20 quoted $500 a tyre, and $550 for 275 for the invo's.
  20. GTX is definitely there for the spool factor, so a 3576 is always a good option for lower end power. But it does depend on a few things as others have mentioned, supporting mods, and also if you think you are going to want more power (a lot of us get hungry for more!). The GT3582R is still very smooth and linear (obviously depending on the tune). If you went with something like a GTX3582R you'll also have a lot more to play with in terms of power if you decide you want more later down the track. Precision turbo's certainly feel amazing also, I highly recommend them, but I think they are a little more pricey. Do you plan to run on pump fuel still? Or going to go E85?
  21. Still gotta get 2 small ones Kurt I might have myself a new bad boy soon so may even need 4 :D
  22. Spotted FRCEFED outside Veale Autoparts in kenwick on Albany highway. Octane FGII turbo
  23. Spotted a fair few cars lately. Saw 'AQUICKIE' - Dash F6 Ute this morning down Albany highway in cannington
  24. Yeah Kurt get me them ready and I'll come pick them up from you And I didn't really see him to comment, but I'm sure he was in a singlet haha
