  1. could think of other things id rather spend 900 dollars on haha, but if its the problem what can ya do. cheers for the advice mate, ill have the car looked over... a little bit out of my hands at this point.
  2. righto. ill be up in brisbane in 2 weeks with the car. might find a ford specialist and get them to go over the car. Quick question, if the valve springs is the problem, can driving the car cause further damage?
  3. my car is doing the exact same thing. except my car sometimes splutters and does weird stuff while in boost and never before 3,000rpm. could this be part of the same problem? The fuel pump has been replaced and has a K n N air filter. Really starting to piss me off, I want my car to just run perfect already. p.s boost gauge installed and running a perfect 6psi, no spikes. Cheers.
  4. The fuel pump was bought to fix the original problem. the cold air intake was put in purely because I was bored and figured it would have absolutely no effect on the car? Ill be taking the car to a tuner this week and hopefully they can pin point the problem because im sick of f*cking with the fuel pump. Only problem is I have to put the tray back on and ill be devo if its a problem with the fuel pump and I have to take it off again. Ill update later this week, hopefully with a solution. cheers.
  5. Worth taking it to a tuner to diagnose?
  6. Is it not odd that the problem has occurred after installing the pump? The problem was similar before but now it is far worse, no power after 3,000rpm, lots of shuttering
  7. Update: the car is currently running 6psi (normal) and was running better. Spluttering rarely, figured there was a line somewhere loose and dropping pressure. Today while working on the car I found that one side of my turbo smart waste gate had screwed itself loose so it may have been dropping pressure. also I installed a home made cold air intake at the same time as the walbro pump. Don't know if any of this would affect the problem
  8. Pretty sure the lines are right. Will check but should be right. I put hose clamps on either end of the hose that replaced the old one. I was a tIny bit long but not enough to kink it. The hose wasn't the tightest fitting hose ever, I highly doubt it would be leaking but could this possibly be a problem. I will but some different hose tomorrow and try again.
  9. Just put a walbro fuel pump in the car and anywhere past 3,000rpm when the car is under load it shutters and seems to struggle for fuel. Only thing I can think of is that the fuel filter at the bottom of the pump wasn't a perfect fit and it might be a bit squashed, possibly restricting fuel? Really frustrated at this point as it was supposed to fix this problem and it only seemed to make it worse. Any advice is welcome.
  10. haha cheers for the heads up. I wonder if the turbo actuator and vacumm lines are the same length :D. The car seems to be cutting out worse now. If I drive the car easy until I get it fixed it shouldnt damage the car at all?
  11. Also my boost guage isn't showing any vacumm. ive tee'd into the actuator line, will this not show vacumm? Where should I tee into?
  12. the cat is standard so its shouldnt be causing the over boost? maybe the actuator is farked? any ideas as a replacement? turbo smart? if im going to do upgrades to potentially run more boost should I wait until ive done the upgrades as there are 7psi and 12psi actuators. Also I thought if I bought a flash tuner the boost could be controlled by it? Im a little confused as to how this all works?
  13. Boost gauge installed. Car is running up to 11psi. Ive been informed that the car should be running 6psi as standard? Looks like this is the problem. My first question is, How do I rectify the over boosting? I will be looking at getting a flash tuner and get the car tuned properly in the near future, but didnt want to do so until I had done the other few mods I want to do I.e High flow cat, cold air intake etc. Therefore is there a quick simple way of controlling the boost levels (back down to 6psi) I.e boost controller. or is it a problem that can only be fixed through the ecu. thanks again.
  14. I ordered a fuel pump On Sunday so it should be here soon and I'll pick up a boost controller this afternoon. My brothers wrx ecu was cutting fuel because of high boost but it doesn't seem that erratic. That said they are totally different engines. Cheers for the help, I'll update as soon as I make some progress.
  15. hey everyone, just bought a 03 BA turbo ute and its has a boost or fuel issue. I originally thought I had fixed it as there was a hose off one side of the waste gate. After refitting the pipe to the wastegate it seemed to come on boost better but now it seems to be struggling for fuel. To be straight forward, its just not pulling like it should. Its almost like a turbo splutter but seems more like its struggling for fuel. Sometimes the power is intermittent. I havent had much time to try and resolve the problem as I only just got the car. so far ive only put a new fuel filter on the car. Ive also done the 'boost solenoid maintenance'. Neither has seemed to make a difference. Any advice is appreciated.
