Ok the car is an 03 BA XR6 Turbo 5 Speed manual. It has 53000-KMS on the clock one owner from new and is 100% stock. So its Christmass day and we have the cars doors open so we can enjoy the music from the premium sound system, three hours later the car won’t start, so we push it out the driveway and my uncle pops the clutch and she fires up. I believe his words were “Iam just going around the block to warm up the tyres.” So of course he has an audience out on the street since we just push started it and I remember thinking to my self I bet the old guy is going to try and do a skid here, even though he really does not do that sort of thing in his cars. Sure enough he winds up at least 5500rpm and dumps the clutch. BANG, CRUNCH, GRIiiiinnnnnd the thing went know were. He says the TC was off but I swear I could hear it popping away. At first we thought it was the gearbox but after collecting the parts of the road it looks to be the left CV joint at a guess. Is this common with stock cars? I knew that the modified ones were popping but I don’t believe I have read about stockers going like that. It’s a piss poor component, I can’t believe how thin the metal is, and it looks so brittle were its snapped. So are they expensive to replace and are their stronger ones available from Ford or from any where else? Piss poor from Ford that their cars drive line components can’t even put up with stock power levels. My thought is anyone with a Typhoon is just KMS away from breaking theirs. Thanks guys.
