Great car - Great Pics - congrats! (Love the web page)

A larger intercooler will have a larger pressure drop then a smaller one. A larger intercooler will result in cooler air intake during extended boost operation. By it self a larger intercooler would at best result in poorer low down performance but better power during extended boost operaqtion. In normal road driving boost is normally only used for short lengths of time - 15seconds gets you from 0 -160km/hr so you wouldnt be boosting for longer then that normally (unless going up ranges, or towing....) A larger intercooler would become important if other mods were being done at the same time. So I suspect that Herrods would be changing the intercooler at the same time as other things (new exhaust, changes in the ECU, more boost....)

I have requested the extended warrenty policy wording be posted to me - when I have it I will post anything relevant.

Sorry to be ambiguous I mean the tray liner - the moulded rubber liner that sits inside the boot over the top of the orriginal carpet flooring
-
-
The quality of the boot as standard is poor - especially considering how great the rest of the car is. Are there any disadvantages to getting the optional liner? Do the people who have it think its worth having?

Data dots CAN be removed but the cost of doing it means that it is not worth it for theives to steal cars with data dots. The dots can not be removed with solvents - they must be physically scraped off - therefore a very labour intensive job (= costly)

I dont like the way Ford call the other colours "Premium" instead of metallic - makes me feel as though I am ordering an inferiour car by choosing Venon. (Then I slap myself and tell myself to stop being stupid!)
-
Both the orange and Red look awesome. When seen side by side (like at the show) they are very different colours - both good, just different But the photos I have posted (and others have posted) the colours actually look fairly similar. I took the photosto help me decide whether to change my venom order to orange - but the photos dont do the orange justice - its a colour I think you need to see for real.
-
Can users turn on "police mode" or can it only be done via the dealers And what does it do exactly?
-
that's for sure. The photos I've posted do not do justice to the Blood Orange - It look very different to Red in the flesh but very much the same in the photos

Hey "ed-au-ba-xr6" we are practically neighnbours - I'm at Wellington Poit and my inlays live on the Wynnun / Hemmant boundary. Small World As far as detail about the paint protection - will post later when I have more details.

The BMW wheel cleaner IS fantastic - I bought it in a 4 liter container (to refill the 750ml pump bottle that came with my car) and I will NOT be switching away from it - you just spray on and wash off - perfect clean every time!!

I would like to say that there is a big conceptual difference between the value of a car and its residual value at the end a lease/hire purchase period. When I bought my BMW in 2000 it cost $80K Dependign on the finance I chose e.g. 3year 40% . . . 5year 50% (ouch) I could have had anywhere between $60K and $30K as the residual on my car. The value is now about $60K (retail) If I was to owe $30K (the residual) and sell it for $60K (the value) that does not equate to a profit of $30K. All it means is that the value of the car has held well (as BMWs do) and the repayments that I have been making were higher then were necesarry to keep pace with depreciation. When you go to buy the car from your friend the residual payout figure from his finance is (as demonstrated about) completely irrelevant. If the car is worth $42K you certanly couldnt expect to pay only $35 just because he got a good deal when he bought it or because he managed to pay off so much of the loan!

The way the gearbox works is: In D (Adap) - fully automatic using an adaptive shift pattern - learns from your driving style To left of D (Perf) without any movement forward or backward - fully automatic with performance shifting patter - longer gear holding and no 4th gear To left of D after moving the selector either forward or backward - the display changes to show the current gear number I.e. 1, 2, 3, 4 - fully manual (no clutch obviously) - with the exception that it wont left you down change a gear if woudl put you over the red line, and if you stop forward movement it returns to gear 1. (But I suspect CJF077 already knows this) Let me ask you this - when the gear fail to change automatically what is displayed in the instrument cluster LCD panel? If it shows a gear number then you have either moved the selector either forward or backward since selecting perf mode (either intentianally or accidentally) OR perhaps the shifter is loose and rattling about a bit causing the system to think you moved the selector OR faulty tranmission or controller! If it shows a number then move back to Adap (right) then back over to perf (left) - does it still show a number or not??

The leather cleaner and treatment I have been using is Genuine BMW. If Ford make one I will be getting theirs for my new T - if not I'll buy some more from BMW (not expensive at all) Cam

Here is some info from AutoSpeed.com.au... High intensity LED brake lights have major advantages. When compared with incandescent lamps, their faster illumination time gives following cars significantly reduced stopping distances. Incandescent lamps used for automotive lighting have turn-on times in the range 100 - 300 milliseconds (ie up to one-third of a second). In comparison, a LED lamp has a turn-on time of 100 nano-seconds - pretty well instant! Those turn-on figures assume that full battery voltage is available, but voltage drops are often present in brake lights. If subjected to reduced voltage at the lamp, turn-on times for incandescent lamps are even longer. With a voltage drop of 4 volts, the turn-on time of an incandescent automotive bulb can as much as double. The brightness of brake lights is also greatly reduced if the lamp is subjected to this lower than design-level voltage. Studies have indicated that LED rear brake lights provide a braking response time advantage of between 170 and 200 milliseconds under favourable road conditions, and up to 300 milliseconds under adverse conditions. A 200 millisecond improvement in braking response is equivalent to a reduction in the stopping distance of 5.8 metres at a speed of 105 km/h. In addition, practical testing has indicated that the response time of a person viewing a LED brake light is actually faster than would be expected, even taking into account the shorter LED switch-on time. It's thought that a lamp that reaches full brilliance very quickly is more likely to catch the eye of the following driver than one that reaches full brightness only slowly.

My car is booked to be done by Tint-a-Car. I spoke with Tint-a-Car at the Brisbane motor show yesterday and they said that the metallic tint they use does not effect the antennae. They said that some do but the type of metal in their tinit does not. THey also said that the interferrence is only on the AM band. They have doen a few BAs already without any problems at all.

In addition to what has already been said: Octane (the molecule that is) is an 8 carbon hydro-carbon (I.e. is consists of hydrogen and carbon - C8H18) and it is the part of fuel that is optimum for burning - the most combustible part. Fuels with a higher Octane rating are: denser - as the lower order hydrocarbons (I.e. less carbon atoms in the molecule) lead to a lower density of fuel more energy - octane is the optimal combustible part of fuel anything else is just reduceing the amount of availiable energy. Higher octane fuels are required in high compression vehicles to avoid "knocking" and detonation (as already mentioned in this thread)

The fivth option would probably be sound deadening Ming offers Tint, Rust proff, paint, interiour and sound deadening.
