    XR6Turbo Merchandise

    Missing Liner

People have been buying the boot lid liner from the Fairmont and fitting it to their XR6's. (I plan to do the same). THe only problem is a slight colour mis-match - if the liner if fitted standard to the XR8 wouldnt it have to be an exact colour match? If so perhaps it would be the one to buy! Can anyone confirm this?

    Reverse Sensors

The manual (yes I've downloaded it from the web and read it cover to cover - even though I dont have the car yet) says that the rear speakers a muted to allow you to hear the sensors beeping - so that implies that it has its own seperate speaker
  4. Oh no.... I have never had a Ford before and mines due april BUT... I have already bought the site sticker - its waiting in a draw next to the new numnber plate protectors, the new set of bungy cords and the new first aid kit....... I have also already bought an FPV polo shirt .... I must be infected too!
  5. What are you basing that on? This is contratry to what Tint A Car told me (of course they have a reason to mislead). Not being critical but the film can only stop EM waves "reaching" the aerial from the inside - the tint in on the very inside of the glass and the aerial is either in the middle of the glass or deposited on the inside of the glass (BA has it deposited on the inside rather then in the middle). Therefore the tint can not stop anything reaching the aerial from the outside only the inside (the anount of signal that reaches an aerial from the inside is very small due the attenuation of the car body and windows). I can see however, two possible ways the tint could effect reception even though applied on the inside. 1. If something metallic was laid directly on the deposited aerial then it would short it out effectivly shortening the aerial - thus very much reduced signal. 2. If the presence of the melatic film within a few milimeters of the deposited aerial causes the aerial to loose efficiency. (My electo-magnetics theory is a little rusty so I cant say whether this is likly or not - perhaps any engineers out there who are up to date on current EM theory could let us know once and for all)
  6. I though it was clear that it was a collation - it was way too much for just one car....
  7. That sounds right to me - mine is an April build as well. I was told that assignments woudl be done around the 25th March and that I could ring and get that date anytime after that. Say... If you ordered yours a week ago and its april build, and I ordered mine 4 weeks ago - does that mean mine will be early April? I woudl think that if they are still quoting April build then I must have just missed out on a march build and therefore should be towards the head of the queue for April?? Does that sound right - or do the order the build cars based on other factors - like colour and options rather then when they were ordered????
  8. I am an Engineer (Electrical Engineer, Computer Systems) . I am one of the owners of one of Australias largest medical software company (still only a medium sized company though). My role specifically is software design (including some coding) and top level technical support. My specific area of specialty within the company is Radiology and voice recognition systems. I am also run a small company that supplies computer systems and small custom software applications to a variety of small clients (small businesses, small medical practices, some individuals...)

    Leather ?

I am also 6"2 and I found the leather seats to be superiour in comfort and apperance to the standard fabric. Add the other advantages of leather: looks great, feels great, easy cleaning, good selling point ... and leather is a great advantage. When you option leather you get the two front seats the back seat and the inserts on all four doors - the handles stay the same but the fabric panel below the handles is replaced with leather. I think the interiour of the leather options car is totally difference envirm=oment to the standard fabric - it makes one hell of a difference to the "feeling" of the cabin.
  10. I got my SIDO about 2 weeks ago (2-3 weeks after ordering) (I ordered last week January and build will be in April)
  11. I ordered through Pacific Ford (a fair way from where I live - but $thousands less then I could get elsewhere)
  12. forgot to say "Im in QLD" - although my avatar says that for me
  13. I ordered mine in Late January and I'm expecting an Aproil build with a delivery late april or perhaps even early May (depending on when in April it is built)

    New Xr6turbo Prices

I have used the Union Shopper (my wife is a member) for my last two cars. Not only do they get fantastic prices but they dont charge anyone (even the dealer) as their service is paid for with the members fees. That means they can get better prices then normal brokers because the dealers dont need to factor the agents commision into the deal.
  17. that's marketing for you! And yes a speaker is a collection of one or more drivers - but that is techo speak. In lay speak a speaker and a driver are interchangeable.

Mine is a bit tricky so try to keep up with me.... Cam is short for Cameron (oh my God I here you say - but I promise it is true)
  19. I Wish, I Wish, I Wish it had climate control - I would have paid extra to have it but - no go. I am really going to miss the Climate control of my current car.
  20. If the antenna is shorted out it will not cause any damage to the car, radio or in fact the antenna at all. If it is shorted and you get sub-standard reception, then simply removing the window tint film will remove the short circuit and reception will return to normal. Obviously this would still cost something (to replace the film) but it will not effect warrenty at all and the rear window wont need replacing.
  21. I just read the memo (should have read it before my first reply) They say the metallic film will 'short out' the antenna - this would only be the casre for films that do not have a polyester layer either side of the metal layers. If you had a film that had a metal layer directly up against the windows then it could be a problem, but if the film used has polyester againg the window then it would not 'short out'
  22. Speak directly to Tint-A-Car they will be able to tell you what they have doen for BAs already. The people I spoke to at tint a car said that it depends on the type of metal tint used and that the stuff they use does not effect radio reception (they also said that even the film that does only effects AM) I am getting all round Metal time from tint a car Keep in mind that this typ of technology isnt new BMW has been using it for many years, even camrys use it now.
