  1. hi. ba xr6t last couple days when going to start some times it a long crank like takes about 3-5 seconds other times it fires up atraight away. also some times its a slow crank... its like a flat battery. also if I have headlight on and interior fan on full its a long crank before it starts....but if I hook up the jump starter to battery it cranks over atraight away ok so I got battery tested by 3 different battery places. one said theres nothing wrong with battery. 2nd said ita still at 660cca (its a bosch 680 silver calsium) other said its perfect wen on load test tests 660 aswell... I have cleaned the battery termilals. can a bad earth to chassis cause long cranks??

  3. if I was to replace my timming chain and guides etc. would I just need to take guides off...and tensioner. then chain shoukd come off and then I just teinstall it so it still lines up and then check it all and should be good?
  4. hahahah. well I was.more saying if inhad to remove the gears would be a *beep* as knowing me id I I <3 Bananas up lol do the chains wear over time causeing enough slack to effect timming? it would be aomething id look into if I was to remove cover as I can get a timming kit for about 150
  5. hmmm. dont really wanna change the chain. as that would be a headach...unless its easy?
  6. also.bi pulled down a spare n/a ba engine that had 120 000 on it. could I use the chain tensioner and guides from nit on mine seeing its done way less ks?
  7. so. chsin guide and tendioner can be replaced easily with cover off and chsin still installed? my ba xr6t with 290 000k. has timing cover leak. is it good to replace guides at same time??
  8. whitline and nolthane are the same compound.... different colour. there both the same owned by same company different names.
  9. also I find that useing 98 in mine I get worse econamy then 95...tried 91 once...seemed to get ok econamy but had no power haha
  10. seems I get more not useing cruise control in my ba xr6t.....if I dont use cruise control I got 650k to a tank and was confirmed yesterday as had to do a long drive home. but that was on highway at 110kph and 100kph. with cruise it would get maybe 550.... round town lucky to get 360 from a tank haha
  11. wanting to change spark plugs in ba xr6t stock boost and power. wanting to change to a copper plug but usure on what gap size to use. just use 1.1mm? or should I go a .8mm?

I needed a lower control arm (one spring sits on) for the rear of my BA xr6t sedan and at the time I found a brand new one from a FG very cheap. so I have drivers side BA arm and passenger side FG arm. been on for a few years.......seems to work so should I change it or just leave it? they looked pretty much the same haha
  13. hi whats the stock fuel pump flow for a ba xr6t sedan. I have been told n/a is 110lph and turbo is 135lph. is this correct? also I changed my fuel pump cradle assembly with one I had for a while I fot from ebay. old one had a massive high pitch whine to it. now new ones in you cann hear it aswell but morenof a buzzing sound in the car. however car drives alllo smoother and no heaitation
  14. ba xr6t sedan, have an oil leak which I first thorght could be comming from the oil return pipe for turbo but its all fine (does have oil on it but not from there) it seems to be comming mainly from behind the power steering pump area and running down all over sump and also on the underside of alternator. alternator was replaced due to power steering oil on it, power steering does not leak. the harmonic balancer does have oil marks on the inner edge on the pulley so I could also have a leak at front seal im unsure. things I have noticed: not comming from rocker cover not comming from power steering not comming from anything to do with turbo and not comming from rear of engine. I know its definally engine oil as oil level has been getting low but also oil is on ground aswell. so I have herd the chain tenioner can leak on these, how to I replace a gasket or seal or whatever it uses? also is there any way to get harmonic balancer off without useing the special tool? I have herd of a 3 jaw puller being used on the inner ring? cheers
  15. check the relays ....my passenger side only turns on when air con is on then afteer a white the other lso turns on. ones low speed fan others high speeed fan
  16. Pretty much as it says.....I have a fg rear lower control arm on my BA xr6t sedan. It's the one the spring sits on in the rear passenger side. I used a fg one as I got it brand new at the time very cheaply and needed one for the rear. Anyway I have been told that the fg wheel base is wider the the BA. The arms looked pretty much identical but had different part numbers. Since then I have also herd it can affect the drive shaft and diff using the fg arm....is that correct? Something about the CV joint and fly apart
  17. Hi I have a set of genuine axel shafts from a BA xr6t sedan. There the originals but have some seal wear marks from the diff seals. Anyway does anyone know the size of a speeddi sleve I will need? I know I could just but a new shaft cheaply but I want tobuse the genuine ones. Or can it be reused even though there's wear marks in shaft...about half a mill deep max.....it was never leaking when it was on car

  19. I had/have same issue with my BA but steering rack was replaced and its still there lol
  20. Mine did the same a while back. I changed tps and seemed good. Although it was perfect after I restarted. Also think it may have been cause I started it and waked it in drive pretty much as it started sooooo maybe that's why mine did it?
  21. Ok so cars done 280 000 ks and I'm about to change front struts . it's a BA xr6t sedan. I have been told that the BA springs are very long compared to other cars...is this the same for xr springs? Can it be done with a pair of spring compressors in the xr springs? I have done it on other cars in past but not a BA. I have read allot about people doing it with spring compressors and not haveig any dramas and also allot of people say don't so it but they have never done it....
  22. I replaced these on my BA xr6t about 60 000 ks ago as I had front end apart. Old ones seemed ok but anyway. I replaced with a pair from eBay for $28 a pair, seller told me they supplied them to some Ford dealers as there the supplier for the genuine ones....no idea how true but they looked I identical to the Ford ones. Just wondering when I should replace again. There is a clunk in front end that's felt in steering wheel when turning or turning into a driveway actually kinda like a pop in steering wheel... From what I remember it was very very easy to press the ball joints in So hopefully the cast iron arm is not worn where the ball joint presses in.. How many times before I have to replace the whole arm? How do I check ball joints? Should I disassemble and see if they move freely?
  23. Can't help with problem but im havintheg the exact same problem with my BA xr6t auto besides the puley noise at startup . I have been told boost leak however I have checked all and seems good . also herd could be harmonic balancer but not sure about that???
  24. My BA does similar only when turning right there a faint click.... click that is felt through steering wheel ....does that sound like rack loose? I have had the stabaliser bar mounting loose before and it was much louder clunk
  25. Hi BA xr6t with pbr 325mm front upgrade from factory. I adjusted the brake boosted rod length a while back took a bit of force as I'd say it had locktite on it and felt like it would break if I gave to much force. Anyway have horendus brake squeal that I have tried 2 different brake pad choices shims past etc and still the same but also notice that when I'm in a car park or a drive through I can feel and hear breaks dragging as car sometimes won't move. ....does this sound like its the booster? I removed brake calipers and there free. I have herd that the front calipers can stick internally as the pistons are made from bakerlite ?? Is this true? Brake pad choices were qfm hpx and rda extream.
