  1. Now...I know this could be anytime but on average how long does a ba xr6t engine last? Mines a 2004 that now has 330 000 on clock. Prety much only this mechanically and driveline specific that's still stock is the actual engine There have been a few things changed on engine such as: Coils Vct sensors Timming chain and guides All gaskets besides head and sump Vatious sensors But was wondering on stock boost levels how many ks people got from them It still has plenty of go and does not make noise...it did have a lifter tap at startup but has since gone after engine flush and slightly thicker oil.
  2. Started every day...prob 4 or 7 times daily lol gets driven allot as its a family car. Oils penrite 15 40 bit im gonna put in a slightly thicker oil.
  3. Hi for a while now been getting a tapping noise at start up for about 30 seconds to 1 or 2 mins (at idle only) then like a switch....its quiet. ....does thi sound like lifter not working? If so can they bee cleaned or best to replace?
  4. Hi. Have a ba xr6t Changed oil about 4500 ks ago and filter For last couple weeks have noticed first start in morning theres a engine rattle seems to last aboit 30 to 40 seconds then its like turning off a switch and is quiet again. Toe it sounded like passenger side of engine. (Could be starter motor not retracting?) Oil im useing is penrite 15 40. And a ryco oil filter Does this sound like oil is not pumping quick enough to top end? Ill give it a oil and filter change as I have had problems with tyco filters before. But if its a bearing or oil pump it be doing it all time??
  5. Thanks..yeah I have not herd myluch about them being a problem. I did speak to a spare parts guy at ford whi said he was told by one of the ford engineres that the r spec mounts are allot better (and cheaper...lol) and they do sell a few.. (270 each !! R spec 160 each..) Ill prob replace them with superpro ones just to be sure (only $20 more then makay brand) Not like the commodores where they flog out every week lol
  6. Hi. On a ba xr6t front atrut top mounts/plates How common are they to wear...cars done 320 000 and there original Thinking of replaceing with either superpro or makay brand....thorts on both? Cheers
  7. Hahaha welll I supose you would say suspensin rubber parts if I said it only had 50 000ks on it haha ? I have replaced practiclly every gasket and oring on engine besides front and rear crank seal...sump and head gasket in the last 70 000ish ks. When I removed the balancer from the spare engine I used a cheap supercheap small 3 claw puller with the arms reversed (had to assemble it as I put arms in balancer...of that makes sence) seemed to work a treat. Saved me buying the dearer tool. Oh and will swap balancers aswell haha as mines the original at 315 000ks. Also its just stock. Owner berfore me is my mate but before him they guy had it tuned to 18psi (not sure for how long) ...then the turbo failed cause of oil starvation. Replaced turbo and kept it stock after that. Before him it was owned by NSW police as a senior sargents unmarked highway patrol car.......so would have had a hard life haha but still goes good for all that
  8. Thanks..linked worked a treat Rubber parts as in suspension? If so that's all replaced...uncluding ball joints etc....engine mounds etc. Just have a larg oil leak which I took power steering pump off and its like its comming from where the timming cover meets the head in the corner. So hopefully its not the head gasket haha. I already have all gaskets to do it Thanks. I think I have a small tourq wrench that goes about that low haha. I remeber it was only done up very lightly when I took it off spare engine
  9. So I need to teplace timming cover gasket as I think its the cause of a large engine oil leack where it meets the roker cover and head (hopefully) So while its off I want to replace the guides and chain with a set from a low k engine I had a while back that I stripped. Mine (ba xr6t) has done 315000ks and the other set (from a N/A has done 120 000ks and looks to be in perfect condition. Anyway. If im just changin chain straight over is it a matter of getting it to top dead center and making sure markings are lined up....remove tensioner and guides and thechain should slip off and new should go on (lined up) ? Ive done it before on a vn Late model camira but that looked allot simpleer then this one haha Also....I know ill get people saying buy new etc. But I just want to know if that's the way to change it. Cheers
  10. Thanks ill give that a shot....think ill need to replace bearing as was driveing it a fair bit while loose (long drive)
  11. Yeah lol. I was thinking that could be a reason but im useing aftermarket drive shafts that have tripod iner joints so has movement in and ouy bit who know lol
  12. Ive had a issue for a while now Basically the passenger side rear hub nut keeps loosening causeing wheel to wobbel and clunk Now I have replaced the drive shaft and also the hub nut a few times and still comming loose. Im thinking the hub splines are worn or the bearing itself which is causeing it to all loosen. I have used correct tourq wrench of 300nm. Drivers side never comes loose Tighten it up noose goes away and nice to drive for a couple months then same again
  13. Ok ao ive asked this a few times in past woth mixed opinions I replaced my passenger side rear lower control arm (spring sits on) on my ba xr6t sedan with one fron a FG sedan. The fg one is slightly longer . I have been told it can affect things like drive shaft and diff etc. I have replaced drive shafts with aftermarket ones since due to play in old ones. What I would like to kow is.....if haveing a fg arm will cause any problems with alighnment etc as im unsure if the 2 or so cm would affect anything it seems to be ok. Or would the adjustment on arm fox that?
  14. When I park car or turn sharply fron stand still theres a load groan type sound...kinda metal on rubber slipping type sound that feels like its comming from steering coloum near firewall.....is there a bearing the that possibly worn or a rubber gromet?it seems to do it for like half to 3/4turn...of steering wheel Cars a ba xr6t sedan Its not always there only does it a handfull of times but when it does make boise it sound really bad. It reminds me of my old vn Late model camira I had when the steering shaft failed and was slipping on shaft however this is not the case with this...
  15. Hi. Been thinking lately about the life of the turbo on a ba xr6t. Mine was replaced at around 130 000ks bue to screen clogging. Was replaced with a garrot. Anuway...has 310 000ks bow....whats the life of the turbos? It does have some small amounts of play howevr been like that for last few year so must be normal amount. Lately I have noticed the sppoling of turbo to be lottle louder but could be me Just for future referance have any one used the ebay turbos? Like this: https://m.ebay.com.au/itm/152430297394 I have read of some making good power and some just useing them as a normal replacement.
  16. What does billet servo do? And easy to install?
  17. Thanks. I saw those however im talkig about a brand called Polypro that sells on ebay...they have nothing to do with superpro (confirmed with superpro themself). Ive used the front strut mount bushs an they seem fine and just noticed they do diff bushs aswell for 50 bucks for 2 side ones. But yeah ive natrowed it down yo either diff itselg or diff bushs. Although diff was recoed aboit 45000k ago. The clunk bang is sometimes a shunt aswell...sometimes. not always though
  18. Hmm true haha dont they have a "life time warrenty" haha I did have front lower control arm bushs replaced under warrenty and was 2 years later...now have nolthane as the superpro ones flogged out yet again.. Has anyone tried the poly pro bushs before? I see allot of there stuff now
  19. Got a ba xr6t sedan. All rear wnd is mixture of nolthane and superpro with superpro being the 3 diff bushs. They have been on for about 2-3 years now. And are the comfort ones thatvhave the big voids in the side bushs. Wasnunder car other day trying to work oit what would cause a clunk and small band from rear and when backing off quickly. Center bush looks ok but disnt really check too good however the passenger side bush I levered up with a larg screw driver and I could lever the arm that connected to it with very very minumal force... didnt check drivers....I should have though I need to get under again and clean it all and see but does this sound like a splot bush? If so it should be a warrenty item? I was the one that installed them useing the instructions provided
  20. Can a worn extension houseing bush on the 4 speed gearbox cause any vibration? its not leaking but I have been told it can and also told it will definally not cause any vibration if worn just leak. im not sure if its worn just teying to find sorce of vibration when done everythibg else I can think of. thanks
  21. ..what?
