While I was changing the turbo core couple weeks back I seen that I had cracks in all the exhaust housing bolt holes. (as per pic) Besides fact bolts mite loosen (which they were tight) would there be any other issues? There is a couple hairline cracks in wastgate hole area aswell. But yeah any performance issues with the cracks in bolt holes? If so...besides genuine garrett exhaust housings what other brands have people used on a stock tune without issues?
-
That's true. Also noticed it allot quieter when on boost. There was always a air gushing sound when accelerating now it's gone haha
-
I'd say so but surely would have been causing a leak? Of some sort
-
Ripped turbo apart and found this. It's the o-ring for the compressors houseing (see pic). Now I have suspected this being damaged as few years ago I did a pressure test in I take and could hear air gushing from there, thought maybe it was the turbo bolts loose but found them being tight. Anyway question. What would this cause if anything? Boost lose? Fuel economy ? Nothing? Cheers

Haha true true..just don't have the $$ for a tune...one day hhaa All good thought sister-in-law has a ba turbo that she wants to sell soon so I asked if can swap cats before and see if mine improves if not swap Back lol Hera is a BA cat mines BF turbo one. Turbo one is more round then the ba one. Not sure which would be better as ba one looks like it might flow more due to twin outlet hmmm..plus has heat shields still haha

Hi all. The CAT on a ba xr6t. Wondering is there a replacement besides obviously a genuine or one from wreck etc that can replace with that won't cause issues with oberboosting etc? Like is there any that can be welded in? I'm running a bf turbo cat section as original fell to piices a few years ago I don't think anything a wrong with mine ...it still revs fine no issues. Just fuel economy could.be way better and almost everything has been replaced. Currently like 20lphk round town but long drives can get 8 lph. That's town driving easy not hard.

Haha Thanks guys. Seems now I won't be able to do it all till Inna couple weeks time. The turbo core still fine etc. I just scored a genuine garret record core for 300 so thought why not do it.....couldn't pass it up for that price . The core on it now has about 230 000 ks on it ....has small amount of play though. The wastgate flapper area I know does have small hairline cracks so I'm hoping that won't make any difference ..been like it from years I know it's definally been ported allot larger as was tuned in past but now stock tune ...flapper and hole is way larger then stock. Has stock tune though. Can't see that causing an issue with stock tune? I keep updated when I do it

Hopefully not a *beep* to get apart haha when I say press it off I was referring to a few pics I've seen on net such as ... https://images.app.goo.gl/Gdnp48M1JQU9wFXd7 But I'm not sure if it would work or not ..seems to work great on all posts I've seen where people have done it Hope it does haha

Hi all. Any tips tricks to seperate the exhaust houseing from the core? On a ba turbo .. I've herd people bashing them off. But can I use a few boots and nuts to press them apart on these turbos without any I'll effect? Core in it is good but. Need to remove houseing for other reasons. Still on car ATM but wanting everything I need before I rip apart. Cheers

All alighned etc. Guy said all seemed good. Was way out had to shim the upper arm on driver's side otherwise said nothing looked out of ordinary. I've done the ball joints Bush's etc heaps times in past on these cars but yes I have a small 6ton press. Hardest part was cutting factory bush shells out of old arm
-
Nah didn't ask as booked it last week and did job yesterday haha. Will find out soon. It drives fine...actually very good. Clearly alighnments out as car see that Mite change springs out in a month or so. What's the factory type xr height in a king spring I wonder...I did send king a message so will wait and see

Just finished installing new struts ....strut tops ...ball joints....lower co trol arm Bush's (nolthane) in a ba xr6t Lowers car from jack and it seem that passenger side is way higher (guard to tyre) Like at lease an inch higher. Can clearly see alighnemnt is out aswell but expected with all work done I did alighn strut tops correctly so I'm at a los what I've done U Less drivers factory spring is higher and I've acidently put that one on that side? 😔 What have I done wrong haha? Or should I wait and see what alighnemnt guy says tommorow?

Thanks. No mods done...well guess you could technically call mods but nothing major. Just normal cat back exhaust..growler intake But no tuning etc. Anyway last time I checked there was only minimal oil in there which as said. Is normal nothing like this. So it's quite possibly burning the oil in engine and pumping through? I can see any noticeable smoke. In saying that though under hard boost I'm unsure as normally looking at road but from idle/reveling there's no smoke Blackness on exhaust does seem little oily aswell but given with the condensation from it it's probly makeing it look that way. If I was to just replace the core (say I got a good one decent one) are they hard to do? I've herd they get rusted on?

Hi all. Not really knowledgeable when I comes to this situation. But anyway. Ba xr6turbo. Yes has hi ks(377 000) Anyway checked oil other day. Was about 1 liter low ..thought ok...only been about 3500 ks since service. Anyway topped it up and then decided to check manifold bolts and found the turbo compressor housing pretty black and oily. When I did oil change I used a nuelon additive which I haven't in past so wondering if this has cause oil to run out etc Now there's zero smoke comming from exhaust but exhaust does get very black. Very quickly...wiped other day and today it's black again. Now car goes great. Minimal shaft play in turbo...turbo is about 230 000 ks old give or take prob less can't remeber.has earls kit and no factory filter Have attached a couple pics. Was after I wiped what I could but yeah. Question.......turbo seals gone? Or should I try a different oil and see if that helps? And if turbo gone anyone used the eBay cores and any feed back haha? Cheers

On ba bf FG sedan. ..how important are rear bump stops? I read somewhere that the factory ones actually form part of the spring and shock rate...the way ford desighned it from factory. Is this true? Are the factory bump stops that criticle? Reason I ask is that the nolthane/Whiteline ones I have now are shorter then the factory ones and shorter the superpro oneswould it be wise for me to swap with factory ones or superpro longer ones? Or am I being picky haha..

If you can't locate missfires but doing what you have done I'm gonna go with low fuel pressure. Is the intank pump fuel pump been replaced before and a rubber hose used? I've seen them split and cause similar issues
-
Thanks all....so there is 2 sensors on FG turbos?? Couldn't find second one or even wireing for it.
-
Hi. Mate has a FG turbo ute Getting code knock sensor 2 short . So swapped sensor with a known hood one from a ba turbo. Same part number etc. It's only has the one sensor on it so mechanic swapped it for him. Used a snap on scanner and no code showed Today I scanned it with forscan and had code come back again. Also a knock sensor 1 code aswell ...... This car does not have 2 sensors...why does it keep saying this and also now other code ? Car goes fine...is modified but drives...looks imaculant

Right...allot say go genuine allot say go superpro. Some nolthane etc. What are thoughts on what to use. ? I'm staying with a superpro centre bush. I have choice between genuine or superpro side Bush's ..... Realisticly besides lasting longer ....between the hybrid and the genuine ones (in side Bush's) is there much difference?? I have superpro main bush and poly pro side Bush's (eBay) and must say noticed straight away when installed them a couple year ago that it was solid as on take off but yes.....there's a shunt ...and a little bit of NVH....hence why I want to go something else...bit don't know what one It's for a BA xr6 turbo. Who has used both and what you reken?
-
Yes but it's a completely different set up the rack
-
Pretty certain they do that to stop shudder as the ba bf was known for shudder so I've found out
-
This is exact same issue I have with my ba turbo..except when turning left then when turning right from left ..bit not if I turn right from centre .....no matter what I have done still have issue. I replaced hose with aftermarket protorque brand and still same. (Genuine one was 7 year old) Replaced low pressure hose that had a small restrictor in it (aparantly something ford did in some) same. New power steering pump...same replaced rack (secondhand) same bled it stupid amounts....same 3 different flushes/fluids...same Although I'm yet to vacume bleed it again as mine does it when I turn left at Park speeds etc. Fine on the actual spot though.. Allot of steering places have said that the rack can cause this as they are extreamly common to have pinion issues but in not sure. Don't want to wast money on a reco rack just yet

So looking at replacing front control arms on a ba ford. Kinda looking at just going standard rubber in the arm and not going superpro or nolthane. I have nolthane in it now and it just makes noises all time even after greaseing etc. What are everyone's opinions on the Bush's for the front of a ba ford falcon lower control arm. Stay genuine or go with harder bush? I know they can wear allot easier genuine ones but is there really that much handling difference between the Bush's? On the rear. When I did the Bush's in superpro and nolthane there was a massive difference but I can't remeber if front was that much different really...
-
Hi. Have nolthane front lower control arm bush and have noticed there's a gap where bush is. It's been like it for couple years since I put it on. Is this normal or is arm a bit bent and should I replace it?? Photo attatched
