  3. Hi All I know that this is an old thread but I am curently installind a 4.3' screen and a boot mounted camera.. the screen getts its power from the cig. lighter (putting out 12.49 v) I wired the camera into the reverse light and when I connected that nuthing! when I tested this point was only putting out 10.49 v whitch is not enough to runn the camera I know this cause I attatched an external 12v dc power source just to check and it all works fine.. so my question is, were can I fin a strong 12 v dc signal that only activates in reverse..?? Cheers in advance..
  4. Well it got the better of me I tool this thing out went to the servo.. and might I say, very dissapointed! the sound was hardly diffrent and the power was exactly the same if not less responsive down low from what I experienced.. so any one thinking about this unless your getting your car dyno tuned I really wouldnt bother with this.. Cheers again for all the imput..
  5. Hmm yea I listen to a lot of rnb and house music at times... I see, well I'm thinking that I should do away with the 10" box I have and just go for a pre fab 12" sub and box from auto barn or somthing... Some of those subs are around 1200watt but only about 200w rms, your saying this would be better than the 300w rms 10" ?? Cheers..
  6. Ok thank you, So the rockford I was looking at getting is the 10" shallow punch p3, 4OHM,600watt, 300w rms, response 43-250 hz, sensitivity 83 db.. hope that's enough info..?? how dose that sound..?? Cheers..
  7. lol yes true.. ok so probly looking at a rockford 10" 300w rms sub and amp now.. I also had another idea... I was looking in the boot today and realised that the car has the cut out in the pacel shelf for the 8" sub what would be better sound an aftermarket 8" sub and amp in the pacel shelf or my first idea of the 10" in the boot... thanks for all the help!
  8. I went down to my friendly local jb store yesterday, I was looking at a cadence sub and amp combo the guy there said if I was to get the amp that he was showing me basicaly I could just get standard rca cables from the amp cut the ends of the leads and just tap them into my rea speakers... no line converter nothing? Dose this sound right? if so its starting to sound pretty easy now :-D
  9. hi im thinking about tuning my 2008 xr6 n/a just wondering what plug in/computer was used to tune the ute? (eg: kappa flash ect?) cheers..
  10. cheers BRK ill have a sift through
  11. Yes probably the best idea Bellato.. I gess last of all, im looking at a 10" sub most of all because of its size (I want to keep as much boot space free as possible) second of all I already have a 10” sub box and its quite shallow so I’m looking at the a 10" shallow. version of a couple of different brands at the moment, hopefully around the 300 - 400 rms range, dose everyone think this will be sufficient to hear some good bass? and what gauge power wire should I be running? Also with the amplifier I have to get something at least rated at 400 rms correct..?? Cheers..
  12. What is wrong with Kappa flash tune? in the past this is what everybody usto use on the turbos (at least version 1 & then 2 not to sure how ver.3 went never had any experience with it) at least I thought if its good for the turbos even easyer for the n/a ?? Anyway, what are people using? what mods? and what power has been acheived?? Cheers..
  13. Hi all, Has anyone tuned there fg xr6 n/a? if so what computer (eg:kappa flash) did you use? what other mods did you have? & after all was said and done was it worth it? cheers...
  14. has anyone installed a line converter in there fg thus far? do the speaker wires run through the pillar between the front and rear doors? I was hoping to be able to hide it in there? cheers..
  15. LOL at Henz!! Yea I know its non-turbo ect ect.. But just thought I’d ask all your opinion’s.. And I appreciate all of your response’s cheers!
  16. ok is that at all dodgy? or dangerouse? or will the sub be any less affective using the line converter/running your rca's this way? thanks again for all the help..
  17. After reading further into a couple of post's up on other forums the people that have taken this restrictore out are saying they saw a big improvement in response and that it was a completly diffrent car compaired to before hand.. making me lean toward taking this "restrictor" out now ....
  18. Thanks for the reply Jacob, Yea I have heard this from a few post's I have come across online, I'm really after some more detail if possible, I'v never heard of a line converter not sure were to get one and then whitch one to get and were it goes and how it works even lol.. So im assuming that I will still be running a power wire from battery (engine bay) to AMP, this line converter dose this replace the need for RCA'S? and what about the remote wire to switch the AMP on and off? If you can shead any more light on this it would be much appreciated .. Thanks again..
  19. Hi all, I am interested in installing a sub and amp while retaining everything else stock (head unit, speakers) what would be the simplest way to install these in the boot, I am usto slapping an after market head unit in running the rca's down one side of the car and the power wire down the other hooking up the remote wire and basicaly done.. dose the STD head unit have the rca's output at the rear? if not how would I go about this? Thanks for the advise in advance...
  20. ok thanks for the advise BRK, ill probly just leave it put a k&n panle filter in sortly and leave it at that..
  21. Anyone have anymore insite into this subject cause im also wondering wether to take this out or not..??
  22. Hi All, I have a 2008 fg xr6 (Myn is non turbo, reason I have posted in this section also is because I beleive the turbo's also have the same restrictore in place, correct me if im wrong) and noticed the restrictor in the top section of the air box.. I have done a bit of looking and can’t seem to find much factual info. One the people that have removed them and the affects or even why for actually put this restrictor there in the first place..?? If anyone can shed some light on the subject with either facts of personal experience it would be much appreciation.. If ford put this in place purely to reduce induction noise I’m not worried about the noise as long as there is some kind in performance gain to be had and no damage at all to the car I’m happy to remove Cheers..
