  1. Way to much piping involved to use both methods. Its cheaper and more efficient to just fiddle with the ratios and compressor types to get the desired result, rather than spending up on both...
  2. Craig, I wonder what has happened to Boof!!! Could use his diff and Auto. Dynowog and Lawsy just call a trusse and forget about it. I still plan do it, so if you have constructive ideas I will gladly listen to them and take them on board. I think the SR would be a good option especially with those interior options. "Can't Get Enough OF This" macka Well, turbos lag. Chargers don't. Nothing more needs to be said. Go hard, keep us updated, check your pm's

    Holden Fan

Yep, better yet, get a brass bell clutch in the rex, then do the said 5000rpm launch (it isn't a dump of the clutch, its a side step... The full force of the clutch spring). Standard clutches wear out fairly fast on the rex, as a few that I know have experienced...... Getting all 4 wheels spinning for a second or so is probably the fastest way to launch a rex/evo.

    america

Everyone I have spoken to that have either heard about the Falcon and Territory from me or the Car and Driver article that was posted here a couple of months back really like it. Good size for family, plenty of power and easy modded. I know for a fact it would sell well here. Like mensioned it wont be coming to the US anytime soon, maybe in the future. Having the tooling over here to make the US models here would definatley help the case. Maybe they can import the engines from Aus and put together the body here... Its all about risk management. Risk: If we (talking first person from Fordau) were to take on the project, how can we guarantee sales? Will we lose out or win? I guess its whether they have big enough balls to make the tools ( ), and do the LHD conversion.

    GEARBOXES T5

He is spot on you know. The other killer when doing burnouts, or simply launching hard full stop, is taking up the slack in the gearbox. When the car isn't in motion, there is a certain amount of slack in the box itself (not that much in most cases, but the t5 has a little more slack in it than most other gearboxes). When you side step the clutch, you are taking up that slack with the full force of the engine. So, because there is about, oh, 1 or 2 degree's of slack in the box, the input shaft has this small gap to accelerate before making full contact with that particular gear. Obviously it wouldn't seem like much at first, but when you consider that you are trying to instantly transfere 400+nm allong a shaft, a few degree's makes a fair bit of difference... Hope that helps someone, somewhere...

Wonder what the responce would be like if Ford got 10 F6 T's, all in different colours, and toured around the US for a few months.... I would bet my house (which isn't even mine) that you would get so many damn orders that it wouldn't be funny...
  7. Guys, see if you can source out some drag slicks, I really want to see you guys annihilate some imports. With slicks and about 300rwkw, low 12's SHOULD be your times. Good luck guys, I hope I can make it (spectator only, meh....).

    SS vs XR6T

Automatic for the xr6t and manual for the vs ss. They seriously are pretty matched, at least ours are, we will be going to willowbank on Jan 19th and running each other so we will see then which one is faster. Dazza. I should think the T would be faster still.... Being Auto, all you need to do is turn off traction control, get about 2 grand worth of stall up and let off the brake. Consistant times all day long. In the SS I would say you will struggle to pull consistantly fast times all day. Motor say this all the time, there is a nack to shifting the comode, if you don't do it right, the shift speed goes down the drain. Hopefully traction on the day is tops so you can get some nice runs.
  9. If someone could do this though, get a snap shot of the rims side by side. If anyone has a mk2 on order, or has one already, find a mate with a normal one, get out your spares (if you don't have a matching spare, just jack the car, or put them nose to nose) and take a snappy of it. Would be helpfull to put the two into perspective.
  10. I agree 100% Some of fords alloy wheels are a disgrace! e.g. AU1 XR6 'clover' style rims... The new fairmont ghia mags look sh*te compared to the old ones too Wish they were 18's on the old ghia rims, would look unreal. The new rims are almost the same as the old, but instead of being dished in the spoke, its extruded.... Amazing what a difference it makes, looks completely different!
  11. Sigh, you backed up and reared some teeth, that's about it. a. No reasoning behind what you said b. No facts behind what you said and c. You're "supposed" to be a half decent tuner, and thus know allot about this sort of thing on a technical AND practical basis. I think you need to have a ride in a few more 9 - 11 second cars from both turbo and supercharger camps. Bum in the seat > technical knowledge in this instance. Anoying thing is you have missed the point more so because you haven't understood my analogy. 4000rpm was just a figure, its meant to signify say, just coming around a corner, trailing throttle and you are about to plant it for all its worth (say traction isn't an issue)... Not the best of examples ill admit, but the points are still valid. Make that figure 2000rpm then if you are going to whinge and carry on about it. You seem to like argueing against facts, not sure why...... Not to mention I never attacked in the first place, so I don't know what the hell you are on about there either... This started with wanted macka to put something awesome on an I6, you then came in with "its not that efficient either" ive said "for the application it would be" then you have said I attacked you and refuse to understand what im saying. Now, this is an attack starting........ Now. Learn basic english, go to uni and re learn everything because you are lapsing, don't accuse others of attacking when they clearly have not. Act your age. Learn how to bloody quote properly, geez it aint hard. End attack. Thank you, going to cool off now. (that attack is much MUCH more censored than the original, infact its lost all of the original...)

    SS vs XR6T

Auto or manual for each car? The thing is, in gear acceleration is meant to be stronger in the T, so like, it shouldn't be catching you (well it certainly is for the mk2).... Like I said, wait another week for motor to come out.... They will thrash the T for some times, and also the F6. Next motor is going to be a fantastic read I think.....
  13. I included this picture in a MAJOR assignment I handed in about a week or so back.... It just doesn't come close to some of the top efforts already posted though... Has to be the best like, 10 posts to a thread, ever......

    SS vs XR6T

Apparently the 6 speed now is an absolute weapon, insiders reckon up to 2 tenths difference, time will tell........
  15. To be honest, I really like the black behind in the lights of the XT (like the Ghia). Lowered with nice rims and the XR body kit (no wing) would look absolutely awesome.... Not to mention when you plant it, the look on the other blokes face will be priceless.... So, I reckon. XT, premium sound, XR body kit (minus wing), leather (can you get leather on the XT?? Whatever....) Goto herrods, get his set of 19's (damn they are hot rims) and his suspension kit. So, that's about 40k right there (Just cause its an XT doesn't mean its cheap ).... Then you have tbe basis for a weapon and a half (yes, it might not be so much of a sleeper, but it will go hard)....
  16. Got a CD burner and willing to waste a CD? Got a multimeter? If so, downlaod some sort of tone generator, produce a wave file that has for, say, 1 minute a sound wave of frequency 50 hz, then a minute later change this to say, 80, minute later, about 110 (avoid hitting octaves). Then stick this into your car, and put a multimeter to it. You can pretty much test every stereo input and output this way and get a fair reading on exactly whats going on.... I dunno if this can be done any other way, but I know a few people who do this to test various things. I don't see how it wouldn't work here either. Only costs you about 2 dollars (cost of a CD) to do as well
  17. ....... You've totaly missed the point, id like to see, at 4000 rpm while NOT ACCELERATING the boost guage at full boost on a turbo. Its probably not going to be producing much more than 60% and the wastegate would be almost fully open.... It is never going to be instant from there with massive turbos. Just look at the video's of the 1000hp nizpro engine, you see him come down to somewhere around 4500rpm, then he plants it and there is CLEARLY a good half a second of spool up before anywhere near full boost is produced. Yet with a charger, this is faster than you can blink.... Dude, cmon, you know this, stop arguing for arguments sake when your just arguing against your own knowledge and experience. I know every modified turbo car I have been in that there is never instant responce, there is always that slight delay. On the more powerfull of those, its much more noticable. With big arse positive displacement blower engines, its instant, no matter what the boost is.... Dude, please, I'm not trying to make you look stupid, I'm not saying your stupid either, I respect you as a tuner, but you seem to be arguing against me for no real reason..... This is meant to be about pumping macka up to stick one of these on our I6!!! Not to argue about the facts and fundamentals of forced induction. And ps, use quote tags properly, its hard to determine where my post ends and your post stops. Just edit it, and stick {quote} infront and {/quote} where you want to start your post. But use square brackets. pps, I wasn't attacking you, and never intended to.

    Tyre Pressuress

From previous knowledge on the topic, 35 - 40 is where you should keep your tyres for them to perform the way the manufacturer wants them to. 35 is usually for rear end grip in a strait line, 40 is for winter or highway driving, 38 is just an alround good pressure for best handling, wear in most conditions. In really hot weather, about 36 - 37 would do the trick to be safe.
  19. Yeah, though it isn't the best way to do it, like all the guys have said, amping after market speakers is easy as, you just tap into the wires and amp the signal. Also, I heard there was some form of remote or sub pre out on the standard head unit as well as premium. Can anyone confirm this?
  20. WTF^^? That sounded like something that would come from some random, at a pub, rather than an experienced tuner. Physics in the end determines ultimate power. And I am here to tell you that top fuelers will never run turbos. Big turbos will never be instant responce and lagless. Otherwise everyone would be running them. Give me one example of a 1000hp turbo engine (must be from a car, not a truck) that has no lag. Positive displacement superchargers by definition displace a certain volume of air per revolution, all you have to to is turn it over and you have that volume of air pushed into the manifold. If you are on light throttle at say, 4000 rpm (say, holding 4000rpm at about 80 clicks in second), the gate is open letting some of the air out. Soon as you plant it, the gate closes, and within a few milliseconds (The time for a solenoid to react really, plus there needs to be something like 10 revolutions after sealing before there is full pressure in the manifold) you have 100% boost. At 4000rpm, you get ~ 67 revolutions per second, that's 0.67 turns per millisecond. You looking at about 15ms untill 100% pressure is reached at that rpm. Id like to see a turbo do that.
  21. NA Thunder, you need to run your car (if you haven't already) and give us a time slip. You are producing some good numbers there. Whats it like to drive?
  22. Unless it has an xr8 bonnet... Ok im sorry that was a cheap shot, my bad my bad I'll go sit in the corner now.
  23. Sounds very interesting, very interesting indeed. What hit of nos are you considering mate?
