Goldbullet, I have nothing against you or anyone else who posted in this thread, but your attitude just pissed me off. Let me show you why. I have seen most of these plates with my own eyes. MYWRX, MYHSV, MYR8, MYSS, MYHLDN, MYRX7, MYFEZZ (bas*ard) MYE55 and, I've also seen MYXR6T, whether they are still registered or not, who knows... So, I have to agree, that it is slightly boring and unoriginal... You could have had the plates "arsewipe" and everyone would have come in agreeing, that, 'hey they are awesome, well done'... Its what people tend to do on a forum rather than give there actual, thought out opinion. So if you ask for honest opinions, sometimes you might actually get one that doesn't agree with yours... I'm not a wa*ker just because I disagree with you. I'm not a sheep; I don't follow the crowd unless they just happen to be going in my direction. So let this sink into your head. Just because someone doesn't agree with you, regardless of what they drive, doesn't mean you have a right to put them down, so put a damn sock in it kid, you're acting like a spoilt little child... Remember, just because we disagree with you, doesn't mean you suddenly get less enjoyment out of your plates. If they turn you on, that's great, they are yours to be turned on by forevermore. Someone disagreeing with you doesn't mean you can't enjoy them. Get my drift? Good.... PS. Senators are gay, and that's my opinion. If he doesn't like it, tough, because sometimes you get an opinion without asking for it... that's life. Deal with it or shut up. Yes, I'm Mr Cranky Boots this morning... If you don't like it, piss off.

Oh, and the fact that he has an engine dyno readout means this engine was built for a purpose... You don't just randomly take an engine out of a car to put it on an engine dyno, you build the engine on an engine stand for a purpose, then stick it on an engine dyno to tune the thing to the nth degree under full load. So his chances are very slim. It sounds to me like this clevo (I'm assuming its a clevo, it damn well better be! Or a big block 460...) was built to be a weapon; seems like it was pretty successfull.

Agree. That and more rear end modification than we have ever seen before, to fit bigger slicks than anyone ever thought was possible on the T...
-
The last T I drove (which had only 75km's on the clock, so it was brand spanking), I managed to keep the thing pretty much on boost between the 1 - 2 and 2 - 3 shift.... No flat change, just punish the synchromesh, she'll be right mate! I have to say the person in the passenger seat was scared... My moto is, if the synchro mesh doesn't do its job and catch up the next gear then I'll just use force and do it myself! No, not really, I don't punish every car I'm in, but it just goes to show, if you can catch the turbo still spinning into the next gear, you should be able to catch the tail end of say, 3 - 4 psi more than if you shift like a grandma...
-
For street tyres to handle craigs car is a pretty mean effort... They must be damn quality! I wonder how long they will last? If you can get 30k out of them, you'll be laughing!

I think it would be funny to see someone with a marinised barra182 in there boat... Would it be possible? ---IF MONEY WERE NO ISSUE--- Surely it would be... You could run a micro tech (has 3d mapping for closed and WOT application)ECU. It would run the current barra182 without hasle, but it wouldn't be able to run the 190, as it requires duel VCT inputs. Or you could use a motec. Either way, could you stick it on a boat? And how big would your smile be (in meters)? Geez it would sound horn too.... Then again, my mates boating friend has an injected Ford 460 big block in his ski boat, man that thing boogies! Not many boats can catch him. /end random post.

Is that in nz dollars? Because it might be even cheaper than you think.....

From all the pictures I have seen so far, I think the premium interior center console is standard on the XR range... So it seems that there is going to be premo sound for everything XR and above (xr6/t/8, fmont/ghia, terry xls/ghia and the LTD's)... The reason I think this is because even in the pre press release photo's for the BA range, it always had the typical "[falcon model] shown with leather and premim audio [optional on blah blah blah]" You know, the typical "you probably wont get this, but you could if you wanted to" blurb. None of the new photo's, from any site, are showing one of those disclaimers on any model showing premo sound. So far I've seen the XR and normal fairmont interior, from a number of angles, showing the premium console... Food for thought.

I was going to say this in my original post in this thread, but decided against it. What you are saying is still not correct. I've spoken to the mechanics of various race teams and all laugh when I tell them your view on what a higher and lower ratio is and all make a comment similar to "who is he trying to confuse? Himself?" So stop making a point of it. You can't agree with me, leave it at that. But now you also disagree with professionals in the racing industry, not just your local mechanic, but the people who race cars for a living. You'll only be confusing everyone who doesn't have the understanding of this principle. So stop pushing it, I did.

Except it is programmed to start in 2nd. It will only use 1st under high loads eg towing a semi out of a mineshaft ... lol I still would have thought stalling it up a little and letting her lose under WOT would give you 1st. Any ideas? Launching in 1st, regardless of load, would be more economical, even if its only for 10 meters travelled... think about it. The higher the ratio (true sense) the more torque is multiplied. This is the whole point of higher ratios; to have more torque at the rear wheels for the same effort from the engine. So, assuming the torque converter has a little bit of slip in it and that the shifts truely are 3 times faster than our current box, then starting in 1st gear, even for an extremely short period of time, would require less fuel for the same effect than starting in 2nd.... Meh.

Great stuff Nick, it certainly is interesting to learn more about the workings of these beasts! Trent. I know hey... He explained some of these things in pms for me months and months ago, which is why I couldn't understand why everyone thought his 'dyno jocky' abilities sucked. It couldn't be further from the truth! Good stuff Mr. Wog...

What Do You Think Of My New Wheels?
Lawsy replied to dutchie's topic in Members Cars and Modifications
They would look awesome in 19s, but look good like that anyway. Looks the goods mate, well done. -
That must be one helluva spreadsheet - I mean, to be able to calculate with such a high degree of accuracy, based on perfect knowledge the manufacturing variations for each and every tyre and, to intuitively know the exact pressure that each and every individual will have in his tyres - WOW - and all to twenty decimal places no doubt! I didn't see you make a spreadsheet that can help everyone out though, did I? No, that's right, you didn't... Go sit in the corner.
-
Or you could have just asked me, seeing as I already have a spreadsheet that does it with much greater accuracy... I'm about to include nominal values for "squish factor" at certain pressures as well... So it will be as exact as you can get it without physically measuring the tyre dimensions or running the car with satnav to check your speed.... Its much easier and self explanatory... But good work anyway.
-
Regarding the tacho - We are still trying to figure that one out... Welcome mate, if you get the Edit, you can make good power up untill 6500rpm with the right valve springs, injectors and intercooler - All on stock internals. So once she is run in, don't worry to much about a bit of a rev now and then, these engines are pretty tough nuggets!
-
I reckon you go for the biggest, most bull crap large brake rotors you can get your grubby mits on.... that's just my opinion though :D
-
any day now I just added a nizpr intake and intercooler... ... ohh man, just when I thouhjt it was fast.... im doing the tune now and its so much better.... Its crazy When are you gonna run this thing? That 750+nm will make it awefully fun to get off the line, the power will come on like a light switch! :D If you can hook her up though, you'll get a low 11, maybe an 11.4... Also, post a dyno graph when you can, would love to see how early the torque hits in the rev range in a typhoon with mods... Haven't seen many yet!

They look the same to me me too ????????????? I think the new ones have a clear looking lense over the tail/brake light The red lens looks more pink on the BF I reckon that's just the light.... Could be. I am old and blind Stop bashing your bishop then
-
Most of the healthier GTs are pushing about 235rwkw though... Finding one to give you a go is another story. Whats anoying is that it seems to me that most of the GT owners willing to give it a go are the ones without such healthy 5.4. The grumpier, hornier 5.4's seem to be driven by old farts not willing to launch from the lights. But when they flatten it in 3rd (and get nothing but wheelspin) and pull away as if in 2nd, you know it was healthy...

They look the same to me me too ????????????? I think the new ones have a clear looking lense over the tail/brake light The red lens looks more pink on the BF I reckon that's just the light.... I can't see the difference myself. I also don't mind the front bar, its just upsidedown, looks more aggressive if you ask me... I wonder what the standard Edit tunes will be now that the tolerences are tighter with the newer engine specs? In comparison to the current custom tunes... I reckon we'll be seeing allot more 260rwkw, nothing but edit, cars going around in the very near future.... Hrmm, interesting..
-
Wait for the BF and get the auto.... I just wanted to be different No seriously though, if you want a manual, get it now with the premo brakes. If you don't care if its an auto, wait for the next falcon, but still option up the premo brakes....
-
Don't worry mate, I hear ya, but we are both wrong in a sense you know. Niether of us are using the industry standard. Many companies use both methods depending on the situation. I do find my method used more widely, but whatever, I'm sure you seem to be able to find people who use your method as well. Anyway, the only thing that seems to be a stardard it this. Shorter gear = less speed or more revs. Longer gear = more speed or less revs. eg 3.46 is longer than 3.73, agree? Good. This is usually related to the phrase, needing to "stretch the gear out" to avoid a shift before the line.... that's the only way to phrase it so everyone understands. But still, I get alot less confusion than you are getting. I can also do a google search and find more peolpe using my method also. But I don't mind, take your pick, just make sure you explain yourself with numbers rather than just saying higher or lower, and we can both explain this together for the betterment of others, agree? Beuaty... I'll punch some numbers into exel and get some graphs so people can get a feel for what this all means....

Nice intro mate, top stuff with the power slide!

Need Opinion On A New Set Of Mags....
Lawsy replied to dutchie's topic in Members Cars and Modifications
If they are 19's (or even 18s, but get 19's if you can) I'd get them. I think they look ok now, but I think when stuck on a lowered blue T that they will look really aggressive, and alot better in the flesh once on the car. You see, rims rarely look as good off the car then on, even if they are put on stands infront so you can stand back. You wanna walk around the car, eyeing them off from every angle. Once they are on the car you'll see what I mean, they'll look sick. So I say go for it it mate, not many guys have that style of rim on their XR6T's and I think they will suit you car well! Just go for it.
