    1/4 Mile Times

I was giving some margin there for human error. Not everyone is as brilliant or as perfect down the quarter mile as you are, mate. Some of those calculators say the T should do a 13 flat, some say it should do a 14.5. So I'd say half a second (as in, + or - 0.25) is relatively fair. Also, example. You have a dyno day. 2 cars with almost identical power curves with the same driveline, same factory wheels with roughly the same tread and fuel... Yet they run 0.5 second differences down the quarter, and both drivers stalled up to roughly the same rpm at launch, and have roughly the same weight.... Timeslips for similarly powered cars in similar conditions vary around about 1 whole second in this forum alone. So sometimes a bit of leniency wouldn't go astray turbo6man. Talking power and dimensions you can quote decimal places, but when it comes to real life performance, factory differences and the like, you simply have to give a little here and there. Half a second??? You call that accurate? What kind of an engineer are you? Geez mate, tell me the weight of the car and the power and I'll guess to within half a bloody second. :msm: So, A day at the drags consisting of 6 runs, would you suggest that joe amateur's times wouldn't vary by 1/2 second?? We weren't talking about driver ability - the discussion was about the potential time any given vehicle could achieve ... DO try to keep up. I thought we were beyond theory and got onto what it should be like in practice... Oh well, you can't please everyone... And I didn't say it was MY calculator. It has nothing to do with me, I said one of those calculators that can be readily found on the net. Like I said up there, some vary around a second. So don't attack me.

    Do You Smoke?

Yep, and you 3 are probably the ones who smoke, am I right? Hit a nerve, did I? You poor things...
  3. ENVI, find a place in melbourne to get the Edit tuned at. You will have a big smile on your face. While you are at it, you should think about getting your injectors changed (go nizpro drilled or bosch injectors) and valve springs, just to be on the safe side. You'll be seeing well over 250rwkw if you go down this path, with great drivability and response. Though I only have a Ghia, I've driven T's (thank you geeseman) and they are smoother when edited and have great throttle response. Also, the sound from running more boost is really meaty. Enjoy it.

    Do You Smoke?

Oh, I should add this as well to make this somewhat entertaining. I know a guy who had a hot piece fall into his lap, and while he shock his pants to get it of, it went into his dacks and charcoaled the end of his knob... Funny stuff... Anyone else have any horror stories, funny stories or just plain wierd stories regarding yourself, or one of your smoker friends? Enlighten us, so to speak.

    1/4 Mile Times

Phil is correct, it requires more calculus, with more multi variable intergrals, more 2nd order differential equations and more partial derivatives to correctly model it with any accuracy, than a year or two of an engineering degree... That is, to get it 'perfect'... Instead, by using some of these equations plus realistic human constants, these calculators can come up with relatively accurate times (to within half a second I guess) so long as the information you instert is correct.....
  6. You can also get all of that, but with more power and torque and better drivability with the Edit. APS zorst and intercooler mixed with nizpro injectors and valve springs + the Edit is probably what you will want to look for. YOU CAN MIX BRANDS, ITS NOT A SIN. You have a great zorst, now you can actually utilise its efficiency with the Edit. PS, stevenP, intune motorsport in castle hill will tune it up for you, under 1400 custom tuned. Is it autotechnique? I think they are in sydney as well... Can't remember who else is in sydney..

    Do You Smoke?

I'm at uni, and this guy has just walked in and sat down next to me while I'm doing some work, and I'm just like, what the crap? This guy has the most nose-hair-burning smell, of the worst type of cigarets, I think I've ever smelt. I have smoker friends, and they all either use deoderant or something, or they make sure they shake their clothes off before they come back in so they don't smell so much... But this guy, argh... Its like dog crap, mixed with winnie blues or rollies, mixed with the bad breath of someone with rotting teeth... It is so damn bad I might just move computers or go home, its giving me a headache... If you smoke PLEASE USE DEODERANT.
  8. Nizpro, HPF... There are a few others as well, but start with those 2 tuning shops and you simply cannot go wrong. They will both produce a similar power curve, and put a similarly massive smile on your face.
  9. Ohh I got in first! The edit, hands down. The Unichip was great for its time, but has been absolutely surpassed by the Edit. The edit in most cases has produced more peak power, and a fatter, wider torque curve. I would say everyone will agree with this, bar 1.

Hrmm... I would have considered one, but if it was a factory option then it wouldn't have the same value to the XR8. It wouldn't be the single differentiable body modification. Ford would surely have come up with another way to distinguish the Boss models from the rest... It would also depend on the kit I was running. If I had the money, this is what my XR6T would look like. Black with a pearl through it. DJR bodykit (whatever it is) No wing Adjustable whiteline suspension sitting 2cm lower than kings SSL (just slightly lower than what is normally considered super low, It has no wing, this is necessary to make the car look 'thicker').. I would have either JB's 19" rims (may not suit black), similar rims to pashen or maybe just the herrod 19's (dunno what they are, but I would source them elsewhere). I'd have a nice deep tint in my windows and leather interior, but a lighter colour (so it doesn't get too hot). that's how I would have it, if it were a perfect world and I had 100k to buy and modify a brand new car.... But before all that, the car would have had most of the following done. Nizpro injectors + valve springs + intake plenum. APS cooler. Big piss off 4" exhaust from the turbo back. Mal woods 6 speed + clutch + diff. Fuel pump with a 1.5-2 litre surge tank, a rebuild (arp bolts, forged h beams and a slightly higher comp pistons (why not I say, maybe 0.2 of a point, remember, the next T has 2 knock sensors), slight port of the head (for the hell of it) and, probably a slight hit of laughing gas.... And of course, edited... But that all costs a rediculous amount of money, money I don't expect to have within the next 10 years... PS, I'm drooling over my own post....

Exactly. Lawsy, you have stated your point, please leave it at that. BAH! Wheres the passion....
  12. Thanks for that I dont know if I can go fast anymore considering im not gay I think the speed is scaring me They do look better in real life not the best pictures I will get more just for you ok cause I know you just love looking at gay stuff You don't happen to wear pink shirts do you? LOL, all good mate... Just keep going fast. And yeah, I'll give you that, they probably do look a whole lot better in the flesh, but I just hate chrome rims
  13. Coming from a man who has what is rated as the best looking T on the forum, I'd listen to him on wheel choice. Like you said earlier its your opinion everyone is allowed to have one In my opinion 19" is just too small now and the car is for show as well as speed so I went a little bit more extreme than everyone else as I will with getting the car resprayed and new interior and so on Surely there are stylish NON CHROME rims in 20 - 22inch? Surely they have rims out there that don't look totaly faggy (again, my opinion, but they just look so limp dude, sorry..... I really respect you and I feel like this is just so contrary to that, but gosh, they just look so gay! WHY!?). LOL you'll be right. Anyways, as long as you keep your foot to the floor and keep pushing the barriers of speed, then keep going hard mate! Not that you probably care, but you still have my respect anyways. Mechanically minded guys don't usually have the best taste or style so its all good .
  14. Have fitted Typhoon CAI + K&N Filter, apart from that it's stock. The motor has always felt strong from day one and I ran it in with some good advice and spirited driving in the highlands of northern NSW. Sounds like a good result but if I were you I would get it re-checked on a inderpendent dyno as Intune's dyno figures and AFR's are a little bit sus plus it gives you piece of mind IMHO CYA JEFF Don't even start with your opinion of intune Jeff... Jeff (DRBOSS) is all good shady, but he had a run in with john from intune. He's the only bloke that we actually know of (fictional characters asside) that has had any issues with Intune. I've watched him dyno tune, and his ARF's almost never go beyond 12.5. He keeps his AFR's quite good for all his tunes. He is perfectly capable, considering he has been racing and tuning cars for over 20 years.... You know... The guy wasn't born yesterday and knows a thing or two about cars, then along comes someone who has an issue and bad mouths him as if John hasn't a clue. Clearly, he knows what hes doing. He has done ground up builds of several cars and has built, just from parts, many an engine with EFI, carby, turbo, supercharger etc. He has recognised qualifications in this field, jeff, I'm sorry, but you don't. I barely know the bloke, but when I see an someone battling away at his business and someone comes along and unfairly badmouths him, its just not on and I goto stand up for them... Jeff, please mate, drop it. You had your issue, that's fine, you keep swallowing your bitter little pill. But keep the noise to yourself, we don't want to hear about it. Shady, your tune is fine. John typically tunes in a little more grunt around 3500rpm, so if it feels like it suddenly comes on, that's because it is! Enjoy it!

Yes, but the guages have a practical reason and they can't be seen unless you look hard, from say, 30m away. From a distance, if anything with a bulge comes up behind me, I think its an XR8 or GT until I can clearly see the front bar.... I'd prefere to be correct in this assumption more times than not, because the bonnet bulge is the SINGLE DISTINGUISHABLE BODY DIFFERENCE between the 2 models... Why are people so retarded that they can't see this? Its just silly making anything else an arguement here (stickers, badges etc... they barely even rate as characterising visual aspects). And don't think that I don't like the look of the bonnet bulge. I think it looks absolutely awesome. I completely love the bonnet bulge. I think its one of the hottest bonnets Ford Aus has ever produced, maybe close to the top 5 bonnets I've seen made world wide. BUT, its there FOR A REASON. To allow the high rise manifold to fit under the hood and to differentiate the V8 Boss models from a frontal shot. So please, leave your car as it is. I infact think it looks better the way it is. Your car looks clean. It has clean lines, simple elegant rims and a clean, simple and elegant bodykit. The bulge would make the front end look to busy for your car. You have character in your car as it is mate, do something original or just put your money into some performance mods. If you get some more grunt you'll get 10x more enjoyment out of your car anyway....

Ignore my previous post, pashen DOES have a double bracket wing, and not the tripple... So, he has the best looking BA sedan, period.

(I know you were stiring ). Well I guess it only works in 1 direction. If you work up the model scale, it just doesn't seem right. But if you are understating your car, it just doesn't really bother me for the fact that people aren't going to comment about it. If, in your example, the T came with a bulge and you put on a normal bonnet, people would just think you were a wa*ker with fake turbo badges. Untill you annihilate them off at the lights in an 11 second T. But going in the other direction, it just makes me cringe. Again, it makes ME cringe, no one else has to agree with me though (Not directed at yourself mate, but everyone in general). Pashen has one hot looking car, in my opinion the one of the best looking T's around. The only thing I don't like is the wing. If he had a only a double bracket wing, instead of the tri bracket wing like what is found on the FPV's, it would be sweet as because, to the tuned eye, it would clearly be aftermarket and not a rip off from a higher model. I guess we are on a simlar wavelength here cobra, I'm just slightly more picky/passionate about it.

    Tyres - Got Them

Don't forget Cro fancys himself as WCR nut Gigi Galli. And a a result drives about on gravel roads at 11/10ths and has already buckled a few 17" rims. 18's would not last long with that sort of punishment... It all makes sense now, thanking you!

No, because wheels aren't used to differentiate between models. XR8 wheels are simply the FORD 18 inch wheel style, not unique to the XR8 as they are an option that some dealers will even put on your base XT if you know who to talk to... They should simply be labelled as the "Ford 18 inch wheels". Big difference. A difference you clearly saw before posting, but hoped no one else would see it.
  20. Coming from a man who has what is rated as the best looking T on the forum, I'd listen to him on wheel choice.

    Tyres - Got Them

Cro, ever thought of going 18's? I know you do allot of highway driving and such, but still, you could probably get away with it, and considering how much you spend on tyres anyway.... The difference would be 1/10th of crap all to you. Just reckon it would look good (not that it doesn't already, but you know).

DO NOT TOUCH YOUR CAR!!!! Your car looks hot, stop trying to be something you aren't. The bonnet is not only a practical necessity on the V8's but it is there to differentiate between models. I'm a Ford fan since birth, and I hate people trying to be something they aren't. (and I don't give a flying rats arse which car is faster from the factory, its still not meant for your car and makes you look like a wa*ker putting it on the 6. What, do you wanna look like a slower car?). No offense intended to those who have already done it, but I'm not about to go and put a "351GTHO" sticker on the Fairmont Ghia now just because it looks good. It is EXACTLY the same principle. Nor am I not going to put a Ferrari badge on my astina... Again, same principle, trying to be something I'm not, regardless of how good it might look. Period. In any case, right now, your car is one of the meanest looking T's I have EVER seen. Infact, the more I look at it, the more I like it! Your car looks absolutely awesome! You are already on a good thing! So spend your money on more power, you'll get more enjoyment out of it.
  23. Argh, chrome... Why must everyone get chrome. But, whatever makes you happy, then I'm happy for you. Plus, the rest of your car is a weapon of mass destruction so it makes up for it in your lack of taste. Yes, I'm happily stiring the pot here :D Remember, its my opinion, you don't have to agree with it
  24. He dangled some bait, you took it in; hook line and sinker, my comment still stands...
