  1. Anybody know the location of the ambient air temp sensor (if it even exists)? I'm talking about an engine bay one, not the ICC sensor in the passenger mirror. Most cars have one in front of the radiator. Mine appears to be stuffed it always reads low (10deg lower than real temp) and the value hardly moves. In reality it should be slightly higher than real temp I have confirmed the temp reading with the snap-on solus ultra scan tool and with the Torque app. Right now the outside temp on the ICC reads 27 which is correct but the ambient temp in both scan tools are reading 18. It's not cabin temperature I tested that by cranking the heater. On an early morning when ICC temp is 13-15 deg (and rising) and IAT around 28, the ambient air temp reads around 9-12deg. The value doesn't really change while driving. I've attached some pics, the car has been sitting unrunning around 40min outside so that's why IAT is high.
  2. Why is this thread getting targeted by bots moreso than others?
  3. Hi, Just wondering if anyone has tried modifying the steering wheel buttons to gain usage of the blank button underneath the cruise control? Is this button even used for anything in any other Ford models? I'm thinking maybe it is possible to fit some sort of spring loaded tactile switch (as is probably used in the other buttons) but I haven't got a spare set to play around with. It would be handy to have as a push button switch for my intercooler spray etc, as there's nowhere on the FG dash to place aftermarket switches without them looking out of place.
  4. I had a customers XR6 on the hoist recently so took some photos. Drivers side hole is just before the muffler, passengers side hole is in front of fuel tank. EDIT: Was an FG also. I'm not sure about BF
  5. Can anyone tell me what rims these are? They look like AVS model 5's but I know those aren't concave.
  6. Mine's an FG so has the side rails already. But maybe consider something like these? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Anchor-Tracking-2pce-305mm-680kg-Breaking-Strain-Tie-Down-Track-Trailer-Ute-Bike-/360997969402?hash=item540d27ddfa I also have two eye bolts in the floor for when I'm transporting 2 bikes. Conveniently there are two metal tabs underneath the tub with holes in them already. Just get under there and drill up through the plastic and then put some eye bolts in with a big washer and nyloc nuts. I think I used M10 size and cut a bit out of the plastic ribs to make them fit. .
  7. Thanks for the input. Do you happen to know if they're definitely re-valved as well or is that is just marketing talk from the distributor to protect their markups? I'm assuming the eye bushes can be pressed out of the original shocks and re-fitted to the Bilsteins? I purchased a set of Bilstein fronts for the FG locally today and was supplied shocks with the part number 24-213486. I've never come across this part number before so I emailed Bilstein Australia and they haven't either. They believe it may be a custom shock from Quadrant in Victoria so I'l chase that up on Monday. Seems there's some wierd behind the scenes stuff going on with Bilstein shocks for the Falcons. If the rears are revalved F4-B46-1140 aka 24-011402 like they say then they should really be supplied a different part number to differentiate them from the Toyota 4Runner shocks!
  8. 7 years 250,000kms on my original unit without problems
  9. Thanks for the reply, I have been looking to buy the rears from America as it would be almost $300 cheaper but it apparently they are revalved for the Falcon. http://ww.w.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11363093

  12. Hi, Just looking to confirm part numbers for Bilstein shocks to suit FG XR6T ute (standard height) Theres no listing for the Falcon on Bilstein's online catalogue. I know the front is F4-BE5-G639-MO I'm assuming rear is F4-B46-1140 but would like to confirm if this is correct? Thanks
  13. The XF ute behind him in the pic, according to number on windscreen
  14. My FG has this problem, only occurs every now and then usually after wet weather. Snapon Solus (diagnostic tool) says it's my rear right ABS sensor I just haven't gotten around to replacing it. Would be an issue if it's a family car though, since the problem switches off ABS and traction control.
  15. GPS tracking can be done very cheap with a $50 GPS tracker from dealextreme.com and a SIM card that has GPRS (internet) data. You will need a mobile/sim card plan with 10-100mb per month (depending how often you want to upload) to send GPS coordinates to an online tracking website such as http://gps-trace.com/ which is completely free and can be accessed anywhere, they even have a mobile app. You will need to shop around for the best SIM card deal, I use Lebara mobile prepaid as they give you 1MB FREE per day (which is enough for 1024 uploads as each GPRS upload to GPS-Trace is around 1kb) and their prepaid credit lasts 90 days with auto topup. So $10 per 90 days is all that it costs me, $40 per year. http://www.dx.com/p/gps-dualband-gsm-realtime-spy-anti-theft-vehicle-tracker-22968#.VAJywPmSzfIThis is the tracker that I use, model TLT-2H. You control it by SMS commands and the manual is in Chinglish but there is plenty of support for this model on the GPS-Trace forums, someone has even made an Android setup app which sends the correct SMS commands for you https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tinx.gpstm
  16. Has anyone installed the nozzle in the stock plastic piping before the TB? Just wondering what the best way to install it would be.
  17. Anyone got the zf gear indicator to show more than the first 4 gears?
  18. Low in the car, its better to fit a solenoid or check valve otherwise you may get a siphon effect. I'm currently gathering parts for a DIY water injection kit, not doing it for power gains at this time just lower intake temps and the DIY aspect. These are the rough prices off the top of my head Shurflow 60-90psi water pump - $120 Hobbs pressure switch ~4psi - $30 Aquamist water injection atomisating jet - $40 10L water jerry can - $10 Water solenoid valve - $10 4mm Nylon hose - $5 10mm water hose $5 Float switch (for tank water level) - $5 Total = $320 I'm also thinking of adding a manually activated intercooler spray basically T another hose off the existing water lines add another solenoid and some cheapo misting nozzles off ebay.
  19. Not sure if this has been brought up already. When browsing the forums on my mobile it doesn't scale correctly to the width of my screen because the ads are not being downsized. I need to zoom in to read the text. I'm using the standard android browser. I've attached a pic which should explain it easily enough. Cheers.
  20. Hi guys. My FG ute needs a replacement right hand rear wheel sensor, I'm looking at getting one second hand from someone who is wrecking his FG sedan, we've traded a couple of pics of the sensors and they appear to be different. Does anyone know if the sedan rear sensors will work on a FG ute? As you can see from the pics they're similar in that they will probably bolt in, but the alignment of the actual sensor would be different. This is the ute rear sensor And this is the sedan rear sensor Cheers
  21. ZF trans temp PID 221674 does not work for me. After driving for 10min it gets to 190 degrees which clearly isn't correct, maybe its still in Fahrenheit but I have tried adjusting the formula and also the made sure the unit was °C but it didn't change anything, might need to have another play with it. Also I noticed if I try to have more than 1 gauge showing ZF temp (using method 1 and 2 from ford list for example) the temp jumps up to 300+ degrees until I close one of them and then they will drop back to a lower value. Another one to try for ZF temp is PID 11BD or (2211BD), I found it HERE. I tried this PID and got 60 degrees when clicking Test which seemed the correct temp at the time, but when I tried to add it to the dashboard it would show 190+ degrees instead and I'm not sure why. I'll have a play with Forscan using my bluetooth laptop tomorrow.
  22. This is how I've set mine up. Haven't been able to get ZF trans temp working or engine oil temp obviously. 3 values come up for transmission temp but one sits at -40°C and the other two just sit at ~193°C. Gear indicator doesn't work completely either, it only logs the first 4 gears. Also I am using the white OBDII adapter with auto-off that was linked earlier in this thread (it's a KWOK branded one) I'm finding that it turns off fine but it won't turn on with the car unless I press the button on it, which isn't so great when stays plugged in behind the panel.
  23. Yep Spoony I spoke too soon, after doing 30km on the 245/45 tyres the errors have returned so it's clearly not related to the tyres and I'm getting the 235/45 ATR2's put on tomorrow. The difference is something like 1.4% less meaning at 100kph I will actually be doing 101.4kph. no big deal and that's how it's been for me the last 12 months anyway. 235/45R17 Achilles ATR Sport 2 tyres $119 ea
  24. Yeah theres one issue though, I had 235/45s on the car since I purchased it 12 months ago and I've been having numerous TC and ABS errors randomly occur in the last few months. The diagnostics tool always says it is the front right wheel sensor but I have swapped it out and the error remained. The errors haven't occurred since putting the 245/45 on so I'm starting to think that the incorrect tyre size was the cause
