  1. ok cool thanx heaps yeah il give that a go today cos yeah I have boost but not much down low its more around the 60km/h onwards before it starts showing its true colours
  2. no I didnt I just lined it up and that was it.Starting to think yeah maybe the flapper isnt opening up far enough.Would that be the case?
  3. My car ever sinec changing the wastegate actuator has lost allot of power, mostly down low but on idle in gear (its a auto) has started making ticking noises from around the dump/cat area.cant pin point it but did undo a bolt on the dump pipe/turbo housing accidently then did it back up.Would I get a simple leak from that?
  4. Oh ok I might have a look at that and yeah im gonna get some genuine ones very soon cos I think the coils are ready for the garbo
  5. The only mods to my car that I know of is a blitz supersound bov and that's it, ford were gonna put their coil packs in but I had actually just got some off ebay that day and I think they were Mitron or similar so im starting to lean towards they are flogged after only 15,000 which is dissapointing but they aint genuine coils,I may be buying a set of genuine coils very soon but wanna pin point it before throwing more money around
  6. My 2002 Ba xr6t I bout a year and a half ago with 155 thousand on it and about 20,000 ks after that pretty much as soon as the dealership warranty ran out my car started doin the brrrr under boost and got worse.Took it to ford and they did a diagnostic and said it was coils, changed them and sparkies and electronic boost controller, all good.10,000 ks later its back again and ford wanted another $120 for another diagnostic, yeah bullsh*t so ive delt with it for the last 20,000 ks,frustrating but ive cleaned the boost solenoid numerous times and throttle body and have new ngk sparkies and since hitting the 200,km point my car is now getting the rough idle.started off worse as the car got warmer but now itl do it all the time,on cold start shel misfire for about 2mins till it warms up cos ul here the exhaust caughing if u stand at the back.and if u give it a lil rev to 2000 rpm and take your foot off itl drop to 1500 and sit there for 5 seconds then drop to a 1000 and then slowly down to 700 so its missing hardcore and I dont know wat else to look for.
  7. Ok thanx heaps yeah I was a bit worried when I spun it I thought id ruin it.that's good to know
  8. Thanx heaps mate yeah I will prob just remove the dump pipe and your new one looks very tidy
  9. Is it very hard to take the dump pipe out? I can see u take five bolts off and replace the gasket and maybe two bolts on the exhuast end
  10. oh and a silly question.could u do any damage to a new actuator by manually pulling the arm,not very much and turning the arm just to line it up with the flapper arm it just made a bit of a dry rubbing noise
  11. Absolute sh*t of a job to do if u dont take dump pipe off,I havnt tested my actuator on a bench but I prob should take it out and do so cos I currently have no boost anyway cos I cant get c clip back on but next attempt is taking the dump pipe off
  12. Hey.thanx for the advice guys me and a mate spent all arvo trying to get at it and we lost a few c clips in the process and managed to get a hair clip in it lol for a few klms before she popped off.got a gasket kit on its way so il pull that dump pipe out then should be a peice of cake.
  13. Hey.Can anyone give me any helpful tips on getting the clip back on the wastegate arm for the actuator.Just replaced my actuator as I think that was brrrrr problem, took me ages to get the clip off cos its in such a sh*t spot, couldnt get the clip back on so I had to put it all back together to get to work and now the actautor has popped off the arm so now ive got no boost :( any hints would be much apprectiated
  14. Hey XR6 747,yeah ive had that same problem with the backfire issue but it has recently gone away but like u said it was spooling up too quick too early then a big pop and sometimes it would leave a intersection half covered in exhuast smoke, thank god it has fixxed itself
  15. No luck with the spark plugs. Coil were fine and they dont need replacing but the spark plugs were filthy so new ones are in and I cleaned out throttle body too.Better on fuel now but still got the "brrrrr" boost cut up high end. As a last resort I think il have to one weekend make an attemp at pulling the turbo out. Um I actually bought the actuator off ebay and it was pretty cheap about $85. I spoke to a mechanic about it and he said the barcode on it reads for example "676767867676-8" and the last unit is the rating so yeah somehow I scored a 8psi one. And unlike some other peoples cars mine will be boost thru all gears if your low or mid throttle but as soon as u flog it shel cut out. yeah the solenoid from the ford distribution center in Newcastle was only like $49 and they had heaps in stock and its really easy to swap them over and I was hoping itd be a simple fix so good luck with yours oh and while uve got it off put a lil bit of wd40 in the lines. I have seen people flogging these solenoids and the lines on ebay second hand and saying they are worth $160+, just ring up your local ford parts and get a price
  16. When it first started playing up I took it into ford and that was a very costly experience as the diagnostic was $110 straight up then they pulled it apart and said the coil packs were cracked and needed replacing which lucky enough my ebay ones turned up that day and they said to do the plugs aswell while they were at it.Then another late night phone call with bad news that it wasnt those but the boost solenoid which was only $50. Which they replaced then all good, until 5000 ks later.Work was under parts warranty but after $680 they said itd be $110 for another diagnostic if it wasnt those parts playing up so ive lived with it for 35,000 kms lol. I have gone to ford distribution centre and bought two more solenoids and yeah nothing.Pulled them apart and sprayed them up numerous times and it does make a difference. just pulled it apart and ford have put there own "ford" plugs in it so im putting NGK iridiums in atm and cleaning the throttle body so il let u know what happens. and no havnt touch the turbo line filter cos I wouldnt know where to look lol. I have a brand new 8psi actuator so if it aint the plugs il have another stab at it but I just cant nudge that last bolt on the actuator bracket
  17. Hey guys sounds like im having the same problem but a whole lot worse. I bought mine 2nd hand with 150 thou k's and was all good until about 5000 ks later it started doing the "brrrrr" crap. Took it into ford and they pulled it apart and said coil packs, and while im at it do the spark plugs. That was done, didnt fix it,then it was the electronic boost control solenoid. Fixxed, but only for about two months and then the same problem again. Mine is fully stock apart from a Blitz BOV and its now spooling up to quick and will run out of puff too early and will do the "brrrr" until I get off it and spool up again. I have bought another wastegate actuator to attempt to swap them over as a fault has generated "Wastegate overboost". Id say ford replaced my plugs with sh#t ones so ive just bought new NGK ones so fingers crossed. Any clues on what this may be would be a great help ive read allot of articles saying its the actuator flogged out and not holding boost. Oh and forgot to mention if u dont re spool after it it kinda feels like it chokes the motor and could stall if u came to a stop at a intersection cos it shakes like crazy, also has sounded like a popping or backfiring under hard boost but hasnt for a while. Any help would be much appreciated.
