    Brake Pads?

I have been using EBC red pads with DBA rotors for about 30000 kms. They work well hot or cold. No shudder just some dust.
  2. I recently had bilstein shocks, king springs and 27/22 mm whiteline bars fitted for $1850. Handling is very much improved but still well balanced and smooth
  3. I hope to make it on Friday night
  4. I fitted DBA 4000 rotors with EBC red pads about 2000km ago. These pads have reasonable cold bite. They work a lot better than standard when hot. I have not managed to fade this combination on the road yet. The EBC red pads make a bit of dust but it washes off.
  5. Thanks for the replies. Accuacy is not all that important to me as long as it is consistent it will alert me to any unexpected changes in boost.
  6. A few weeks ago a friend lent me an Autometer Phantom Vacuum/Boost gauge to try in my car. It read around 20 - 22 in Hg vacuum at idle and around 13 psi peak boost - with what is supposed to be a 10 psi custom tune. I have since fitted a Stewart Warner gauge as it looked like a better match for the other gauges. It reads around 17 - 18 in Hg at idle and 10 psi peak boost. I thought I may have had a leak in the hose somewhere so I reconnected them temporarily on a short hose under the bonnet using all the same connections and still got the different idle vacuum readings. Which gauge is right? What is a normal idle vacuum reading for a BA MKII manual?
  7. I had no clutch slip with the standard tune, however with an 8 psi generic edit the clutch would start to slip at around 2800 rpm in 4th. This was not related to launches or gear changes. Going back to the standard tune the clutch worked as good as new. I have since added a Mal Woods option 1 clutch. This is much better to drive than standard and seems to be copping with a custom tune.
  8. I run 40 psi front and back and rotate the tyres every 10000 km. Wear seems to be even.
  9. I still have not had a chance to have a good look however I have found that if is difficult to change out of gear above 4000 rpm with the clutch in but without the clutch it will come out of gear ok. I suspect the problem is in the clutch. Any ideas on what could cause this? Clutch appears to be working normally at lower RPM
  10. My car seems to have developed a slight driveline vibration (staionary and moving) and gear selection is difficult above about 4000 RPM. Gear changes feel relatively normal at lower speeds. I have not yet had a chance to have a good look underneath, could this be caused by a broken engine mount? Has anyone else broke an engine mount in a manual? Is it normally the left mount that fails? Thanks for any help you may be able to provide
  11. I found that the standard clutch started slipping with the capa 8psi generic tune. This happened the 1st time the car came on boost with the new tune. It appeared to be unrelated to driving or wear as the clutch had done 19000 km and appeared as good as new on removal. Reloading the standard tune stopped the clutch slipping. I have since installed a Mal Woods stage 1 clutch and it is copping with the Capa 10 psi tune. The pedal effort is marginally heavier than standard and the take up is a lot more positive.

    G-tech Times?

I have done a few g tech runs with a standard 6 speed. When I first got the car times varied from around 14.6 to 15.0 and felt very inconsistent. After a reflash from Ford and around 10000 k I did some more runs, times were very consistent 14.3's. I now have the edit and a Mal Woods clutch but have not done another g tech run.
  13. I have a MKII 6 speed that has averaged 12.4L/100 for the last 25000km. I used to have an LS1 6 speed that averaged 11.8L/100 for 115000km under similar conditions. Based on this experience I would say that the XR6t and LS1 are very similar in terms of fuel consumption
  14. My next mod will be a clutch that does not slip

    Edit

I recently installed the capa edit with generic tune. Both the 8 and 10 psi tunes perform well. However even with the 8 psi tune the clutch slips in 4th. I have returned to the stock tune and the clutch seems to be as good as it ever was. I was hoping to just use the edit with generic tune for a while but it looks like I will need a clutch first.
