  1. Overall I think they look good. I think a car wash would probably rip them off as they are only just clipped on. If the people who like stealing things realise they are only clipped on, I think they may start to go missing! For the money ($47) I rate them 9/10!

  5. Covers Fitted:
  6. No, they just clip on over the lights. Here are the Installation Instructions:
  7. Here's a photo of them prior to installation.
  8. Just picked up a set of Ford Driving Light Covers. About time Ford released these! Part Number is: SX-15K233AA Retail Price: $47.00 pr The part number is the same as the Territory (same driving lights), looks like a few good things might roll back into the Falcon from it's release.
  9. Are we going a little bit too far with this advertising thing?? If a member has received great service and/or deal on their new car (after all this site is about our cars) shouldn't this be allowing on the site? I know I am always interested to hear about good dealers for when I am ready to replace my car. It's pretty obvious where he got his car from mate... That wasn't my point but you have added weight to my statement.

  11. Tockley, I'd be keen to know of your impressions of the XR8 compared to the XR6T? Have you had it long enough to form some opinions? I'm still tossing up if the next car is an XR6T ute or an XR8 ute....
  12. Attached are a couple of photos with the overlay. As you will see, they use sections of the original 'Home' screen. If you switch off the STB, you get a blank black screen. So I suggest you have a switch to return to the normal Ford screen.. Regards Cutsnake Thanks for the photos. Yes, I will definately use a switch. Please keep us updated on your progress. I've just got to now go and find a plug for the ICC.
  13. You still see an overlay of the control when you you set something. E.g. if you turn up the volume, you see the volume bar over the picture, If you turn on AirCon you get the appropriatte symbol. These are different images to that of the 'normal' display and are only displayed for a few seconds. A quick question/s about the video select switch, If I short out this pin does the overlay superimpose over the TV picture when I change an A/C control etc? If so, do we need a switch or can we just short this pin to ground? What happens if the STB is turned off, does the display return to normal? Do you have any photos of the display with the overlay superimposed over the TV picture? I would be keen to see it. Thanks
  14. I am prepared to live with the TV only working whilst stationary if the need be. There are several diversity antennas on the market, maybe one of these is worth a shot? I have also found this STB MDBVT, it is halfway down the page. I have been told that it can output NTSC, it is 12 volts and it appears to have two AV inputs (these could prove very handy). I have emailed to verify if the output is RGB or not. EDIT: Just received an email, this unit is in excess of $1000, obviously not a candidate for this project at that cost.
  15. Cutsnake, Thanks for all the work so far. I have located a Teac box that is 12 volts and has SCART out, it is the TEAC DV-B400 It is also very small and would probably fit under the passenger seat. I am not sure if it is capable of NTSC though.... I have emailed Teac and am awaiting a reply. Did you happen to look at this STB?
  16. I have found the bars at Hardcover They look the goods, I would be interested in the cost. I also noticed on the webpage that they have remote locking on their hardcovers, I would be interested in knowing more about this!!
  17. I'd be extremely keen on this!
  18. cutsnake, great job. Can you let us know have you connected up the digital box? Did you use the scart? Whick connections do you use? What did you use to connect to the ICC? Any other info to connect this up? What type of amplified antenna are you using? Thanks and great work!
  19. Agree with the above, it's a waste of money and a quick money earner for the dealership. Why do the dealerships always have a sexy looking woman wearing tight clothing trying to sell this stuff to us????
  20. FORDTECH, Maybe you know the definitive answer to this? I would be keen to buy a premium ICC if I knew it was do-able!

    new 18" tyres

Hey Falchoon, what's the go with your 2 aux plugs? Does this mean you have two inputs? Sorry to hijack the thread.....
  22. Anything is possible if you have enough coin! For the exact same ICC unit I have in my car (colour screen, 6 stack), you'll need $3078.96. Trade price. Hope this helps. Is it possible to acquire a Premium ICC and bolt it into a ute? What is required to be done to make it work? About the only thing now holding me back from buying an XR8 ute is the fact I can't option one with the premium ICC, I think I would miss it too much!
  23. No, utes are optional passenger airbags.
  24. Have you got any more info on this Zeke? Did you get a contact or a list of what they install etc?

    Oil cooler

One of the issues with the coolers built into the radiator is over time they have a habit of leaking. It's one thing to get coolant mixed in with your trans fluid, but another to get collant mixed in with your engine oil! One of the main reasons this is bypassed when fitting an external cooler is for the above reason, it is not a very reliable unit. The negative of bypassing it is, once bypassed the transmission will take longer to heat up and may not run at normal operating temp on really cold days. (you will do as much damage to a cold trans as a hot trans). The general concenus on fitting an external cooler is to plumb it in series with the radiator cooler. Another debate could be started talking about wether to plumb the external cooler before or after the radiator cooler!
