Valve Collet Droped Into The Sump
xr6thsveta replied to genuine honest person's topic in General Tech
How can the tuner get it so wrong. Before my gate was ported, it overbosted to 16psi and that gave 360 RWKW. We ported it and got it to a nice 300 RWKW at 11psi max. -How come it took 19psi to get 327 RWKW- Doesn't make sense to me Edit- Or is this the baseline run after the mods, before he had a chance to tune it, and it couldn't handle the first run-up on the dyno -
I would have thought it would be hard to tell how much power an engine has, by MPH down a 1/4 mile track, unless you do a "power to weight" comparison as well. Surely two cars, both with 300rwkw on the same dyno could have a totally different time, eg, a car weighing 1.4 ton will be much quicker then a car weighing 1.8 ton on the 1/4 mile run. Does that make sense

Check your Owners Manual, it says what to do in there to turn screen back on. I have a BA and it says to turn OFF constant screen, press and hold the Volume knob for 3 seconds until the screen goes blank, so when you adjust something on there, the screen will only display for 5 seconds after you have finished. To turn back on, press and hold Volume knob for 3 seconds for constant display.

Where Is This Turbo/manifold/exhaust Leak Coming From?
xr6thsveta replied to nelsonian101's topic in Turbo Workshop
Cheap way to check is to cut about a metre length off your garden hose, stick one end to your ear and poke the other end around those gaskets, you should be able to find exactly where it is leaking by the change in sound. This has worked for me before several times -
I became a granddad for the first time yesterday, a beautiful girl . Im so proud that I cant stop smiling

Turbosmart Actuators Are Rubbish ?
xr6thsveta replied to genuine honest person's topic in Turbo Workshop
Is your boost gauge reading right? Have you tried another one to see if it is reading the same psi ? -
Sorry, e-bay link wouldn't work
-
Hi Ralph, are these the mounts you have put on your car?
-
What injectors do you have in it? I had the problem of long cranking when it was warm/hot. I got my tuner to take out the 42lb injectors (e-bay ones) and put in 60lb dekas and it fixed the problem, this was after checking everything else including new plugs and air-flow sensor

Yatnt - Yet Another Ticking Noise Thread
xr6thsveta replied to straughsberry's topic in Engine Workshop
Almost sounds like exhaust gasket leaking, (manifold possibly) Cut a piece of garden hose ( about a meter long ) and stick one end to your ear and move the other end around the motor and exhaust joins, you might be able to locate where the sound is coming from and go from there. -
3 Inch Exhaust And No Cat. Will I Get Turbo Overspeed Issues?
xr6thsveta replied to patrol_maverick's topic in Turbo Workshop
Hi, I know it's an old post but I'm interested in porting my turbo at some stage. When you say a good port job will help control boost if you have a "free flowing intake and exhaust" how much will it actually control, for instance- will it control a tune at 6psi with standard actuator (3-4psi) or is this asking too much of it or is this more for trying to control overboost above say-12 to 15psi because everything is so free flowing Sorry if this is a stupid question but just trying to understand it Cheers -
So could that restrictor in the line starve the turbo of oil, I wont be leaving mine in but could others have issues with it by leaving it in ? Cheers
-
Is this correct, (450mls in 15 secs) because the I've got an after market braided line for my BA and it has a restrictor on the turbo end ( approx. 1mm hole ) and I checked the flow with the restrictor and it was about 150mls after 15 secs, and without the restrictor it was bang on 450mls. Do the Earl lines have a restrictor on them and has anyone checked the flow from it, Im a bit worried to use mine after reading this ^. I might put my old one back on and check the flow before taking the car for a drive with the new one, Cheers

Hi, just thought I would update this. I got some more work done on my car over the last couple of weeks, tuner replaced injectors from 42s to 60 dekas and the long cranking issue has gone. He said when he pulled the rail off with the injectors, number 5 and 6 looked like they were leaking. I had got so used to the issue I stopped worrying about it, but now it is sorted its heaps better. Just thought I would let you know what sorted mine, Cheers

Is it the same mechanic that replaced the manifold gasket who blew the engine?

Even with tune?

Hi, I am doing a few more mods and retune shortly, My car has the standard exhaust system with only the CAT removed ( in NZ ). I was thinking of getting the Xforce 3 1/2 inch turbo back system, would this be much of an improvement over what I have now. Looking at system like this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/XFORCE-TURBO-BACK-EXHAUST-INCL-STAINLESS-DUMP-PIPE-CAT-3-5-MILD-BA-XR6-TURBO-/220992104282?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item337427e75a&_uhb=1 Thanks

xr6thsveta replied to xr6thsveta's topic in Fuel System & Induction Workshop
or if anyone has some low km second-hand ones for sale in the Brisbane area, he may be able to pick up next week. also sorry if this is in the wrong forum, Mods -
My son is going to Brisbane and can buy buy me some injectors while he is there. Does anyone know of a shop/garage that sells genuine Bosch 42lb injectors for BA XR6t at around $300au or would I be better off just getting these off ebay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BOSCH-968-440cc-FUEL-INJECTORS-FORD-BA-BF-XR6-TURBO-FPV-HOLDEN-LS1-UPGRADE-RXP-/370850808897?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item56586e4441&_uhb=1

Wat1/4 Time Can I Expect With A 10Psi Flash Tune And K&n Pod
xr6thsveta replied to twisty88's topic in General Tech
Wouldn't it be a good idea just to go to a good tuner and get them to do a power run on the dyno to check A/F and boost pressure. If it is ok, no stress, and if it needs adjusting book it in for full tune to get it sorted. Probably only cost $100 for power run to check it -
Pod Filter / Bad Fuel Consumption ?

Fuel reg holds 60psi pressure with key on (not started) also when running and dynoed and runs great. I tried the WOT on startup today, first start of the day it backfired, tried again and it started up. I turned it off and restarted immediately with WOT and it would not start, which suggest it works properly if restarted straight away. I left it for over half an hour and it started under WOT(tried this several times), but upon immediate restart after running (WOT), it would not start, Also blows out black (fuel) smoke and cranks for 10 to 15 times after sitting for over over 30 mins to 1 hour with normal start up (no throttle),=== this is what pisses me off about the car Would this suggest that the injectors are leaking into the pistons after shutdown, flooding it ? Any suggestions would be appreciated PS..Car runs and boosts perfect and is great to drive
