  10. cheers for that, as far as I know the housing is also shagged.. is the 35/82.. quick to spool?
  11. so my standard turbo died due to bad judgment by my old mechanic. he has agreed to replace it so I went to a performance group here in tassie and they quoted me 3k for a whole new stock turbo, modified rear housing with flapper mod and external gate all fitted to the vechile drive in drive out. what I was wondering though is should I go the 35/82 core? (may have to pay a little extra not sure) and still get the modified housing, im aiming for around the 400rwk mark in the near future. I've also read about the GTX turbo's that boost from a very low rpm, is this one of them?
  12. how long would it take for an experienced mechanic to fit a set of valve springs? my mechanic has charged me for 10 hours labour to fit timing chains and valve springs, is this ok?
  13. how long would it take for an experienced mechanic to fit a set of valve springs? my mechanic has charged me for 10 hours labour to fit timing chains and valve springs, is this ok?
  14. It's turning into a dog fight as to who pays/fixes it.. The timing was fixed by another performance group and I sent the bill to this mechanic and he did front up the cash, the turbo will be pulled off this week and sent away to be inspected, now it's just a waiting game
  15. I'm not unreasonable but I think its only fair for him to cover the costs of his mistakes. I mean come on, he put the car on a dyno In such a bad state.
  16. This was all done by a mechanic here in Tasmania, plenty of witnesses to say it all happened as I saw him myself, and a lot of my friends saw it to as they worked/live in the suburb
  17. Car was running hugely rich, was at like 30L to the 100ks
  18. The car was running badly for a solid month, probably about 10 hours of actual run time, and each time it was run it was thrashed dead cold, started up, driven out onto the streets and held flat all the way up the highways on a cold motor and turbo
  19. Hey guys just got a few questions, I've been screwed over by my mechanic and pretty much what's happened us he's had the car for over a month.. He was putting valve springs in and got the timing two teeth out when he put it back together, he then ran the car for ages like this, without telling me it had this problem he even went as far as putting it on a dyno, that same day the bearings went in the turbo, would the timing have been a contributing factor? It also had a small coolant leak, caused by him in the coolant line to the turbo
  20. Hhahhaha 3-4 hours? My mechanic had my car for a month to put in valve springs and new guides! And even then he didn't put it back together right so now I get the warnings in the photo below
