  1. I had the front visor and rear louvre on when it was doing 10.4@145 but it was pretty sketchy. The rears are only double side taped on and the front one looks like it's trying to fly away with the A pillar!! Yep, we had no idea how to fix the date on dyno, but it must have worked. Left there feeling like a little kid at Xmas.
  2. Finally got to a retune after fitting the powerglide and wound the boost to 23psi and I broke the 500+ club. The cars transformed a bit from a street car, into just a weekend racecar. Really happy with the power figure, its running a 4800rpm Converter, Powerglide and a 9". We dynoed it with the 275 ET streets on which was well interesting, it baked them on a run and lost half my tread with it. Now we take it racing and see what it really will mph. With 19psi it ran 153mph but it didn't have a cage then so we have added a touch of weight.
  3. Well its been a bit of a update since last post, After the axle drama I thought it was time for a little suspension work over so I got lucky and got the old stuff from RBKILA. Modified the diff brace and added a few bits to try and keep the diff all square to stop the axle happening again. Got a set of Ds2 front runners on 4" rims and fitted a set of 90/10s up front to help with some weight transfer, E series don't squat, they stand up. After that I took it back to Heathcote knowing the diff should be fine and pretty confident. Took it easy on the first run to get a feel and it was fun, think it ran 12 something at 135mph. Next pass gave it a little burnout and a softish launch and it wheelspun and ran a 10.8 @140mph. Next big burnout, stalled it up, was making little over 10psi and BANG broke the C4. Seems to have been a forward gearset, and no gears expect reverse. I also chanced upon this, and thought a 9" would be nice. Just a housing and 31 billet axles, so then got a centre from Moser, went with 3.5's Full spool nodular case. The final nail in the coffin for this round of updates is the "Glide. Got it built in the states with a converter for much cheaper than here filled with better parts. Its a Coan filled with the stuff you find in 1200hp+ glides and a custom converter at around 4500rpm. Using a Quicktime bell as its SFI rated and that's the same reason I went with the Reid housing. The only thing I'm waiting for now is the Tailshaft, picking a chromemoly shaft up with strange unis and couplings in a few days time, then we can see how it goes before putting a bit more power in it.
  4. 10.36@144mph 1.8 60 ft There was little traction, actually there was zero traction but plenty of HP to be made with the coldness. Im spewing I broke the passenger side axle 3 runs into the night. The car was a rocket.
  5. Still the same power but now its managed a 10.36@144mph with a 1.8 60 ft with a ton of wheelspin. The only other run of the night before the axle broke was a 11@138mph Pretty happy with the mph considering it only shows 400rwkw.
  6. Well a few updates since I last posted in here. Got all the tune sorted out, went up to a Progate 60 and merged it from the collector and its got fantastic boost control now. Did a few clean up tunes on Bp98 then switched it over to pump E85. The difference is amazing, power comes on much sooner and loves timing. We ended up with 400rwkw@19psi with a slipping auto and what is pretty much a 5500 convertor. In 5psi from the gate pressure of 14psi it makes another 130rwkw. Cant wait to really open up this turbo but the auto is not enjoying its life with this much torque. Pic of how the gate is now. All completed now only a few minor things to fix up. The new my Family stickers. Took it to Heathcote for AFF nats, with the 400rwkw tune and the old set of 255 radials on the back. Was looking forward to seeing how she would go, the 60fts I knew would suffer as I cant hold it on the brakes hard enough, it just pushes thru or spins the tyres. The track was bad for grip but great for power, temps were around 4c. Wheelspin pretty much everywhere but managed a best of 10.36@144mph (1.8s 60 ft) and the other run was a 11.02@138mph. Next run went down to 16psi in the radials, torched the tyres off the line skated up the track and pop, the axle snapped.
  7. Finally got my boost control sorted and did a E85 tune on it and it was pulling high 390s and low 400s all day on 19psi. I'm still only turning it to 6000rpm at the moment so it has a few more revs left in her. Considering the auto slips in 3rd after a few runs and the convertor is soaking it Im really happy just to break the 400's. Its a handful with what becomes a 5000rpm stall and a 1500kg car. The GT42r is just starting to come on at this boost so should be much better once we go past 25psi, so Ill drive it like this for awhile then change auto and turn it up some more.
  8. Have one in front of my C4, no issues so far. Engine has probably only done 1500km though.
  9. My parents got rid of a FG XRT for a Focus ST, and its the most fun car I have driven in some time. Take it up some twisties and the amount of grip and composure it has is scary, and with the mild power output means you can actually drive it hard without doing silly speeds before it gets on the limit.
  10. Yeah haven't even turned the Eboost on yet, gate opens at 14psi which spring is but just cant dump enough exhaust out. I believe its down to the gate posistion, we will redo it now with 2 feeds with better transitions.
  11. From MoTeC they are 75 or so, you can get them Mercury for around 45 I believe.
  12. Its a EMS 6 Channel CDI unit that's running them all. They are Mercury Marine CDI coils that Motec sell, you can get them thru MoTeC or or Mercury, exactly the same coil just at a much cheaper price. I had done a heap of research and these are good units. M&W also supply them for CDI units. I believe you cant use coils with inbuilt igniters with a CDI unit. The EMS has two modes, a high and low. Low is 115mj and High is 125mj, I just have a switch on the dash if I need to go High to burn off any crap on the plugs or when its needing to burn a lot of fuel, which so fast hasn't happened. The spark of this setup is pretty crazy, if you pull a plug and listen to the crack its enough that you don't wanna even be near it.
  13. I went down on saturday for a tune, same problem as 2 weeks ago even though I thought I had fixed it. The wastegate cant bleed off enough exhaust, its opening at 14psi and its still boosting well past 25psi. So manifold has come off, going to a 60mm gate with re plumbed entries into it. Hopefully that sorts the issue out once and for all.
  14. Figured now I have a DOHC I can be part of this community lol
  15. Gday, just a little thread on the project I have underway. Ill start with how it is now, that's more exciting to me than its previous life. Its all been built by myself and friends in the shed, actually get more enjoyment out of building them than driving them. I first had a GT3582r on it when this engine first went in, we had cam timing issues, with both cams being dialled in wrong. It struggled to make 300rwkw at 18psi as it was just blowing boost out the exhaust and doing a really good job of heating intake air up. Went to Heathcote for FordForums Drag nats and it ran a best of 10.94@121mph (1.5 60ft). Best mph was 124 for weekend but the auto slips in 3rd and convertor flares to 5500rpm and we didn't rev it past 5600rpm as power dropped off due to cam timing. I then set fire to engine bay on the burnout pad when a power steering line ruptured so that prompted a respray and then was offered 2x new GT4202r for a bargain so I got them and whacked one on mine and the other on a mated ED. Also put in a vertical flow intercooler with 3" tanks as the old one was a lit So as it is now a basic run down of the car is - Built DOHC, everything that you find in solid motors is in here without going into it. - C4 with 3500rpm stall, actually drives like a 5000rpm stall (Issues) - 3.23 mini spooled diff - Haltech PS2000 - EMS 6 channel CDI - 6x Mercury marine Coils - 4 inch stainless exhaust - GT4202R - 50mm tuned exhaust manifold - Progate 48 - Snort Plenum 3" t/B - Billet fuel rail with twin feeds - Bosch 2000 injectors - FPR2000 reg - 3x O44 fuel pumps with 2 feed lines of -8 - Walbro 255 lift pump - Eboost 2 - Various other bits and pieces With the little turbo
