Hey Guys, my cat has decided to break away inside and I ve managed to give it a rev and shoot some out of the exhaust. Im guessing this will create a little more boost for the car? Has anyone had this happen? I want to one day upgrade the exhaust but not just yet. To fix this is it simply a case of getting a new one welded on?? The ba dump pipe and cat are on the same pipe, I dont want to spend all that money for a cat. Chris.

If you can buy from a dealer. You'll be able to get a warranty with it. Otherwise make sure you take it to pedders and get the 21point check. If the car hasn't already had all underside replaced at some point you'll be spending a few to do it sooner or later.

Bulb modes let's you open your shutter till you close it. I don't know if there is a max time ( as long as batt last?) For best results you'll need a remote cable (ebay). Some you can set it up to take x amount of frames for x amount of time and x amount of time between. A cgoof long exposure photo is a full moon. It will make everything look daylight with stars in the sky.

It could of well been. From what ive read the boost solenoid doesnt seem to muck around where as the plumbing is a little more prone to. There was a leak somewhere 1st was like it was an N/A the other gears there was boost but very little compared to what it was. It raining again in sydney so the roads have been wet all day so not really a good test cause I kept spining. hha.

Seems to be all good now. I pulled everything off that I did the other day and just repeated the same steps and put it all back together. 1st gear boost is back and the boost kicks in a liltte better then before. Gave the solenoid a real good squirt with wd-40 then cable tied the hose on. Checked all line to turbo and wastegate. Took off all the piping from the hot side and tripple checked it went back on correctly. I noticed that when I put the plumbing back for tb that I may have not put it to how it came off (how it had moulded to tb) also the first time I was getting at the solenoid I hadnt removed the hotside piping post intercooler so I took that off as I said. It was a little slippery inside around seal. Gave it a good clean and put it back on. So where my problem was I wont know. Maybe I havent gotten rid of it and it`ll be back tomorrow but for now she seems all good.

Taken from another post: Thanks for the info went and cleared it this morning and found it still has no power might as well drive the yaris around lol has another good look under the bonnet and found a large crack in the rubber boot on top of the throttle body ( the one with the two large clams) so I'll be shopping around for one today any ideas of who might have one on a Sunday? Has anyone had this happen before? Anyway soon as I change it I'll let you know if all the power is back thanks again It's in the top right hand side XRTFG6 ended up swaping this with a 13bk part and problem fixed. Will check tb tomorroz. Orignial post link http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/79832-cleaned-boost-solenoid-now-ive-got-what-seems-low-boost/

hey guys. This is my fist post. I would like to say thanks first up. This forum is a great, a wealth of infomation on the mighty xr6ts. I recently purchased a ba 04 stock (with k an n filter) 5spd man and under 100kms. Car is a treat to drive. Having read up on cleaning the boost solenoid and throttle body and reading some of your replies to it, I thought hey I wonder if I clean mine if It will bring back any power they may have been lost over the last few years of the car. So off I went and gave the throttle body a clean aswell as sprayed some wd-40 into the boost solenoid and the hose attached on top. I took it for a spin but it was raining so it was only quick. After a day or so once it dried up we went out for the day and it seemed to me that the boost was low. It wasnt kicking as hard as it used to. It feels like there is hardly any in first gear and the other gears it just seems to be a lack of boost. It still goes hard. To remove the solenoid I did have to remove the battery but I dont imagine it would have any ill effects with this sort of problem. As far as I can tell all the plumbing is on tight. Usually I can hear the BOV and a bit of turbo flutter. Now I really only hear some fluttler but not as much as I had. So my question is has anyone else come across this? My first guess is that I`m loosing boost due to the waste gate venting the exhaust (so that is peharps to solenoid being open??) so I`m going to try giving the soldenoid another clean and tripple check all the plumbling. So I`ll let you know how I get along. Any thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated. :sungum:
