  1. Ohhh...question is, do I go with or without the gaming controller...hmm. To be honest, chances of me actually wanting to play games on it is pretty minimal. Mainly just want to be able to stream plex and netflix in bed so the missus can fall asleep and I don't have to try and wake her up and get her into bed haha. Then I can watch what I want and neither feel guilty haha. I do also like that I could use the shield remote to turn my tv on and off with it...means I only need 1 remote in my bedroom without having to buy another universal remote - winning! Now I need a couple of Sonos Play1's for rears in the bedroom I reckon, as I've already got the Playbar and Sub in there.
  2. Incorrect. I have 6.6kw worth of panels as it means I get more power over the course of the day,as you can split the arrays for morning and evening. Maxes out at 5kw though.
  3. Well, if you can still get the buy-back for a 10kw system then go for it! Again though, I'd do a bunch of research on different inverters and panels before you commit. Have a good read up on Whirlpoor forums - plenty of good info about products, but there should also be a thread for your state where you'll be able to find out which installers are good and bad and who to avoid.
  4. Seems too cheap...I'd be wanting to know more about what inverter and panels they use at that price. Also, I'm not sure what the limits are, but I'm pretty sure if you go over 5kw inverter you're no longer eligible for government rebates...or maybe the power company won't buy back your excess power...I can't remember, and each state is a little different. It does seem a bit cheap though. For reference, decent quality packages for 5kw inverter and 6.6kw worth of panels was around $4-6k.
  5. Awesome, thanks for the feedback, Rab! Might look into one soon.
  6. Anyone played with an Nvidia shield? Considering one for the bedroom tv to connect to my plex server/Netflix etc.
  7. That's pretty sucky news BCB, sorry to hear mate!
  8. Woke up this morning to find the poor dog had gotten an upset stomach during the night and created a poo-nami in the spare bathroom where he sleeps. That smell!...definitely not how I thought my Monday morning would go! GF's had the day off to check on him and make sure he's ok. Poor little buddy. We had the GF's sister's dog to stay over the weekend and Wallace seemed to really like Samsons food...it seems not to have liked him much, however...
  9. Nah, client site visit. My new job is essentially tech support and training for a mining specific software package, so went out to site to check up on some issues they were having - so checking hardware, drivers, settings etc...all the fun things.
  10. Howdy all! Did a visit out to a mine site on Monday for the first time since starting my new job...definitely made me realise how stoked I am to be working in the city now. Even down to the fact I was feeling a little peckish just now so wandered into the kitchen and there were some muffins, fruit and decent biscuits on offer to tide me over till dinner.
  11. Except if you check out the compatibility link no NAS servers will actually trascode 4K: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MfYoJkiwSqCXg8cm5-Ac4oOLPRtCkgUxU0jdj3tmMPc/edit#gid=1274624273 Also, my solar produces enough power during the day that having my PC running is somewhat insignificant...
  12. WMMFG: Finishing and submitting my last uni assignment for the year
  13. That's a very defeatist attitude...upgrades are great! Mine's chugging away like a champ now!
  14. My Honda has Pedders coilovers and it's stiff as sh!t, even on the softest setting! The Shockworks I had in my GT were super comfy in comparison, even on much stiffer settings.
  15. No good mate, but glad to hear she's recovering well!
  16. I actually can't believe how quickly this thing boots now. m2 FTW! Edit: also just read that part of their price matching requires it to be in stock in WA supplier...so won't price match PC case gear. Ah well, I'll just roll with the 1050 ti.
  17. I also see PC Casegear has them on sale for $249...and PLE down the road price match and have them in stock...so I could return it and get that. But given it's not the thing that's making the noise I not don't really have a reason to return it?
  18. Yeah, that. Plus, turns out it's not the GPU fan making the noise, it's one of my case fans humming at a certain frequency. Also, I'm not going to be gaming on this thing, really...so I don't really need a monster card for uni assignments and plex server duties. If I decide I want to I can always buy a beast card down the track.
  19. Reused my Noctua NH-D14. Idles around mid-high 20's CPU core temps. Max I've seen running prime95 was just over 50. Bearing in mind that's not OC'd. Do potentially have concerns about the GPU noise. Have to play a bit today, but it seems considerably noisier than the previous card...so half tempted to see if I can swap it for one with 2 fans to make it quieter.
  20. So I did a thing... Not quite a 1080ti, but should be plenty for what I wanna do with it. The 8700k should be great for 4k transcoding with plex.
  21. We actually shifted to soft phones through Business Connect at work this week...that's been a fun transition, considering our main purpose is client support haha.
  22. Yeah, bit slow on the uptake...honestly don't know why, I do like being lazy.
  23. Yup, that'll do it! Just had a play loading PLEX onto my PC and xbox...we're livin' in the future, boys! This is actually the greatest thing!
