  1. Had a pretty average sleep last night...a siesta wouldn't go astray actually...
  2. Today is dragging...I just wanna go check out these speakers already!!!
  3. ^Did I just witness someone talking sense on this forum? 🤣
  4. GF has family there, so go over and do Christmas with them, then go off and do our own thing for a couple of weeks or so. I've never been to Tassy and it's been somewhere I've always wanted to go. I've already said I'd like to do a hike/walk around Cradel Mountain. Cheers for the list!
  5. For those who have been to Tassy, what are the top of your list for things that are 'musts' when visiting? GF and I are going for 3 weeks at the end of this year.
  6. Morning all! Feel like it's going to be a pretty unproductive day...just counting down the hours until I can go check out these speakers...😫
  7. Yeah, it's generally pretty solid gear. Something on my current amp died like 10 years ago and I got the board replaced and haven't had a single issue since. Would just like something with the modern decoding functions and the ability to run some more power through the fronts would be nice in the future, especially if the Electras come home with me tomorrow!
  8. Nothing great for now - Yamaha RXV-1600 from uni days. But the deal for the speakers is one that is just too hard to pass up, so I'll just have to suffer through with my old receiver for now. Future plan at some stage will be a Yamaha CX-A5200 or similar, and some nice power amps.
  9. I'm looking at Electra 1028 be's. If all good I'll grab the 1008 be center and SR1000 dipole surrounds too.
  10. Pretty sure Electras are made in France. I've currently got a 700 series setup and it's ok for the price, but doesn't come close to touching the Electras for both build quality and sound.
  11. Lol, cute...no. https://www.focal.com/us/high-fidelity-speakers/electra-1000-be-2/electra-1028-be
  12. Just work, really. May be buying some new speakers for my theatre/audio setup tomorrow evening, assuming they're in as good a condition as they appear to be...so that's exciting.
  13. Perth goes alright too, for a lot of the reasons Adelaide does. Housing is a little more expensive than Adelaide though...but still a lot more reasonable than Melbourne or Sydney. Electricity is a bunch cheaper though haha.
  14. @Princess Fluffy $7k power bills is hectic! Can't even fathom. So I guess at that point batteries are worthwhile.
  15. I call bullsh!t. If you are planning ducted aircon there's no way you'll get 24hrs off grid.
  16. Camels can be pretty nasty, so I reckon they could potentially make decent guard dogs.
  17. I honestly can't fathom a life without aircon...😱
  18. No, Keith, it's not. After using Snagit to do exactly what I've described going back to try doing it with snipping tool is a truly woeful experience.
  19. I use it properly everyday for work. Screen cap, highlight, paste into email, send to client...
  20. Can honestly say I've never once required that functionality.
  21. I wholeheartedly disagree. Snagit is super simple to just go "print screen" select the area, copy and paste...if that's all you want to do. But the ability to automatically pick the whole window makes it faster, plus adding text or a box to highlight something important is soooo much faster than snipping tool.
  22. Thanks fluff, means a lot. Things were like that at the start but just the way things panned out changed that dynamic entirely and we didn't really have the opportunity to deal with that. This weekend and today feel very much like they did back then, like the honeymoon phase is back. So I feel like it could still work. We've just both been very independent for most of our lives and her family never really talked about feelings or emotions...so it doesn't come naturally to her.
