Howdy all. Went to my GP yesterday...he wasn't happy with my blood pressure 😔 He told me to buy a bike and ride to work...and I'm actually considering it. Would be about 14-15km each way, which will suck at the start, but I imagine it'd get easier with time. Would also take not much longer than it takes me to drive to work, so there's that. Plus there's cycle path a lot of the way, so wouldn't be too bad. Also means I wouldn't need to try and fit extra exercise into my day, since the exercise would be incorporated into my commute... So that's where I've gotten to thought wise. Discuss...

I'd still open it, expecting some really far reaching dorothy the dinosaur reference...

WMMFG: finishing and submitting my final two assignments for my uni course! Graduate Certificate in Geostatistics DONE! Words can't even begin to describe how excited I am about getting weekends (and weekends without having uni work in the back of my mind) for the first time since starting my new job.
-
That's true - I could definitnely use it to test the software on a Tablet, since that falls within one of my projects...interesting thought...
-
Trying to decide if I can justify buying a Surface Pro to claim on Self-education expenses...since this is my last semester...thinking it may be a stretch, though? Speaking of 2/3 assignments complete - 1 to go!

Doing a Grad Cert in Geostatistics. My old company started off paying for it as it was going to help me with a potentially different role, but then I had to pay them back when I changed jobs and figured I'd started it and already then paid for a chunk of it myself I should probably finish it so the money was for something. It's still relevent to my new job, in that it's helpful to understand so I can advise clients on how to do similar things in our software, so I can claim fees etc on tax as a self education expense...but I don't really NEED it now, so my motivation is severly lacking...

Yeah. Just got one more assignment left after the one I'm currently working on. Ideally I'd love to knock both of them off before going back to work on Monday, then it's all done...but with how long this one's taking I'm not so sure. The software package I have to use to do it all is horrendous. Looks like something straight out of Windows 98 and any menu item you select spawns a new window, but not always on top of all the others it currently has open...so you have to hunt around and move all the other windows out the way to find it. It makes me angry...

I'll be happy when I eventually finish all my uni work - so incredibly over it and trying to juggle the busyness at work and study 😑 Boss has been nice enough to give me some study leave over easter to try and punch a bunch of it out - but I'm still going to go back without really getting to have much of a break.

Pfft, roll-up tv is where it's at now!
-
Similar to what fluff said though, at home there's too much distraction - if I get to the gym I'll do things. And I guess my idea with the gym near work is that I have to go there anyway, so it's not overly out the way.
-
Post me some, biatch!
-
My only concern with that, though, is I'll essentially already be going from zero gym sessions per week to aiming for 3, so don't wanna try and over commit and end up back at zero. Edit: would also like to increase fitness to get back into playing squash. But do agree that running sucks balls.

Ok, so buy a 4K tv first... semantics, geez 😂😋

Well, the one near work means I can leave earlier for work - so traffic will be much lighter and I'll definitely get a preferred parking spot. Plus I can make coffee at home and drink it in the car on the way to the gym - which gives me a little more time to wake up and be less stiff before I get to the gym compared to the one near home. However, the downside is that their closest gym to my house is 10+mins drive away instead of 6. The gym that's closer to home is a standalone (ie not a club), I've been there before and doesn't tend to get many poser gym junkie types there. Both will be able to fit into my schedule, I guess it's more about how I want that schedule to look... Kinda both. Appreciate there's other ways to get fit, but if I decide to go running and then it rains all week that's less than ideal. Where as I can go to the gym, lift some heavy things and then do a few kms on the treadmill if the weather is terrible. I think it's mostly about actually setting a routine that includes exercise, as I haven't really done that regularly and definitely not since working in the city.

Cute. Try 4k movies with TrueHD audio...56GB would just be 1 movie... and totally worth it.

That's rough fluff! Good to hear you're able to sleep a little better on account of the meds though!

Morning all. Been so flat out with work, uni and life that I've barely even had time to scratch myself, let alone keep up with the forum. I miss much? So, in an effort to regain some semblance of control over my life/health, I'm going to start going to the gym before work Mon, Wed and Fri mornings. GF and I had joined a gym together previously and tried going Tues and Thurs evenings... but I seriously CBF going after work - so decided I'm gonna do this for myself and what works for me. What I can't decide, though, is whether to join a gym near home or one near work. If I join one near work it means I can go in earlier and miss the traffic, but their closest gym to my house (if I wanted to go on the weekend or something) is double the distance than the one I would join if choosing the one near home. Both gyms cost the same.

My stepdad has an XC60 and can confirm it is a really REALLY nice car. Could happily live with one I reckon.

Probably procurement agreements. My old company used nothing but Lenovo computers. I think all computer companies can make good and bad PC's. If your company bought chit, low end models way back when and then they've been abused by lots of tech unsavy people, then chances are they're going to run like balls regardless. My old laptop was a Dell, and it blue-screened on me several times on me during a training course this week (not the most professional look...), but this was more than likely a piece of software or a driver causing the issue, not the computer itself. Had a Dell XPS laptop at home for years and had a couple of issues early on but they replaced parts and it's been rock solid ever since.

Considering this thing is more powerful than my current Desktop PC at home, I'm pretty stoked it's as small as it is - will make site visits a whole lot nicer.

New work laptop turned up today - thing is pretty beasty! Damnsight nicer and smaller/lighter than my old one!

Mine hasn't been turning on until about 7am this week... which is a bit of a shame, as I get up at 6. Ah well, still well and truly paying for itself.
