  1. Yeah heard catbacks not much of a difference in the note, was thinking along the lines of a 3" turbo back system or 4" if reccommended.
  2. Hi Guys, So its time to start modding the FG XR6T.... Already has decent brakes courtesy of the NSW police force So I really would like to have a nice exhaust note, doesn't have to have a huge amount more power as it was never meant to be a power car just a nice cruiser with a bit of poke. I will be looking into suspension upgrades at a later date as it might see some track time in the future but for now just mainly wanted a exhaust but after reading these forums and learning alot - realise I need a ecu and or tune to go with it. So I've seen places like Tune House in Sydney advertising and looked on their website - their basic package seems a bit overkill for what I'm after and doesn't include a exhaust system so wasn't sure whether to enquire with them or whether anyone else has ideas of good places to go and what sort of budgest I'd be looking at? Also the second the reason besides the nice note from a larger exhaust is that the muffler end of mine has start to rust a bit from wear and tear so it will need replacing either way in the future. So basically, exhaust, ecu with tune or ecu tune not after huge power wish to keep it around the same economy as it does city traffic driving during the week.
  3. that explains it more thanks guys. Makes even more sense now. Need to update my mechincal skils lol
  4. ok thanks for the help guys, I just wanted to clarify it just wasn't a boost spike issue.. since I know with nissan imports you can simply add a boost controller to keep boost creep in check but they don't experience the major lean out issues. Wasn't aware that the ford engines were so sensitive.
  5. Hi, I was reading and when you modify the exhaust system on a XR6 Turbo is highly suggested you get a tune to prevent boost creep, etc... But could this not be circumvented by added a boost controller to the system to prevent the need for a tune straight away if you keep the boost at standard setting even though you've added a full exhaust system?
  6. just to update on this, had new o2 sensors in for a couple of weeks and now in the same traffic conditions car is running at 13.2l/100.
  7. Hi All, Note: For those who have seen my other posts I haven't changed the o2 sensors yet as they probably don't really need doing so that can't be the cause of this fault. When driving today with headlights on, wipers on, aircon on demist doing approx 60km/h the car suddenly stalled. So I put it into neutral and restarted it and away it went. This did not re-occur afterwards and its the first time its occured. The car is a 2010 FG XR6T X-Hwy with 96k on the clock, had a full inspection by ford and they found no faults at the time and this is our first fault with the car. EDIT: it's automatic too. My only thinking was something to do with the wet weather and electrics? maybe a exposed wire from when they pulled additional electronic bits for police use out? Anyways I'm no expert hence why I'm asking the question. Any idea's on what could of caused this?
  8. Yeah at times it can be stop start traffic... basically from epping to parramatta during peak hours. Haven't had a good chance to test hwy figures, when I first got it went to orange and back and I think from memory (which could be wrong) it was running at like 11 to 12. See that's what I've always been told that air con doesn't affect it that much but as soon as its turned on no matter what driving the economy climbs by at least 1l/100km. So in the grand scheme of things not a huge difference but noticeble enough when it was higher then expected. There we go then, just wanted to confirm it. I was just a bit shocked that not even getting 400kms to a tank. But this tank much better so much now with half a tank left sitting at 250km and that's mainly peak hour traffic and also a trip in sydney cbd in traffic and out today free flowing. Oh well I'll chuck in the new o2 sensors and see how they go, probably make lil to no difference but glad to hear its not running as bad as first thought.
  9. Had mine for a couple of months now, yet to post up pics will have to do so. 2010 FG XR6T (x hwy) with 90k on the clock driving around the city sits anywhere from 14.5l/100 up to 15.8/100 with n without air con on. I've got two new VDO Siemens o2 sensors coming to change over to see if they help at all... I new it wasn't going to fuel efficient but would of thought it would run around 12-13.. or in kms terms at least get 400km to the tank. This tank looks to be a bit better but generally it struggles to get 400kms to the tank.
  10. Hi Guys, Really new to the forums and collected my 2010 FG XR6T on Sunday. All of my modifying knowledge is mainly with nissans so please excuse some of ignorance. I like the look of the stock tip the oval shape and was wondering if anyone has seen or heard of any aftermarket exhaust systems that are twin pipes but with a oval stockish looking tips on both outlets rather then the usual 4 pipe look. And, I've been reading and apparently on these cars if you modify the exhaust at all you should be getting the car tuned/flashed. As I said my knowledge is with nissans mainly and anytime I've switched exhausts you didn't have to tune the car, only when fiddling with boost and what not. Is it a definete requirement to have the car tuned/flashed or just the best thing to do to get the most out of the modification and fuel economy, etc.
