  1. Its difficult to show, basically drips from the bottom of the reservoir but there no signs of a leak. Waiting on a new reservoir and thermostat, I can manage the leak by venting some of the pressure after each drive.
  2. Also FYI - The coolant reservoir does have an overflow hole at the bottom that runs straight down the centre from the side of the cap at the top. I have a feeling this is the weak point of where mine is leaking from.
  3. Probably no point swapping out the reservoir until the new thermostat arrives, don't want to cook another one.. Funny thing is, the temperature gauge hasn't moved. Thanks for your help guys.
  4. It's definately the reservoir that's leaking from the bottom, can't believe anyone would bother selling a product that fails so quickly.. So does a thermostat failure cause excess pressure in the coolant system?
  5. Hi All, Can someone please confirm if the coolant reservoir is supposed to have an overflow hole at the bottom or not? Mine is leaking from the bottom and I am just unsure if it's cracked or just deliberately overflowing due to a failed thermostat. The thermostat pipe also is showing signs of a failed o-ring with spots of burnt coolant. I have ordered a new thermostat but just not sure if I should be ordering a new reservoir or not.. Also my reservoir is a replacement item I picked up from ebay recently.. Thanks heaps.
  6. I'm starting to wonder if removing the oil screen is somehow related to the hesitation issue I now have. Is there such thing as over supply of oil to these turbos? Anyone else who has removed the filter all together experiencing any issues? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Kinugawa-Turbo-Oil-Feed-Line-Ford-BA-BF-XR6-FPV-F6-w-Garrett-GT3076R-GT3582R-/271032902407 Anyone tried this replacement line?
  7. This might be worth a look as well.
  8. Thanks for sharing this GTA, will have a look for melted wires towards the back of my engine bay. Can you describe where the wires are exactly by any chance?
  9. I'm getting used to living with mine until my next service, I can only replicate the issue with 100% throttle so day to day it's not really a massive issue. It's strange Haydo that a replacement solendoid fixed the issue temporarily and then it returned 5000km later. For the sake of $50 I might get a solenoid myself and see what happens.
  10. Yes removed the oil line filter screen not long after I bought it.
  11. Haydo, Sounds like I have the exact same issue.. Purchased my stock 03 auto a few months ago, 120kms, ran perfectly until recently it started the 'brrrr' noise and no boost on WOT only. When I plant my foot I get nothing but the 'brrr' but if I back off slightly it seems to come on boost and move. I don't want to start needlessly replacing things that are fine so any light you can shed on resolving your issue might help me also. Just for a bit of additional info, about a month earlier I did the boost solenoid clean but I accidentally used a type of WD40 referred to as a 'spray lubricant' as opposed to the usual generic WD40 can. I didnt think anything of it at the time but wondering if this has somehow affected things inside the solenoid.
  12. Thanks also for the template, purchased an F6 snorkel and about to undertake this cars first mod.
  13. 99 Excel - Enough said, I should have chosen the silvia turbo that was on offer. 97 Integra vtir - Highly underrated car, High revving 8,500rpm screamer. 91 Mazda rx7 series 5 turbo - rebuilt and ported with T04e66 turbo - 350rwhp - It had issues I never had a chance to resolve ran an easy 13.6@110mph at willowbank raceway before it was stolen and torched. 03 Subaru WRX STi - exhaust and tune - 200kw at all 4.- 13.3@100mph at willowbank raceway. 06 Accord Euro - zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz 07 WRX - exhaust and intake mods - never dynoed or tracked but bored with subarus by that stage. Current - 03 BA xr6t auto leather - Loving it so far and it makes a great daily. Its standard but soon to be tuned.
  14. Any members down towards Tweed Heads? New to the forum and new to fords, looking forward to getting involved in upcoming events and cruises.. A dyno day would be good!
  15. Sorry I worded that wrong, I mean the rotation of the bolt with holes.. I removed the filter from inside. Thanks Guys.
  16. Hi everyone, I just picked up what was meant to be a 'downgrade' from an 07 WRX. It's a BA XR6 turbo, mercury silver, auto, black leather interior and it honestly makes my old car seem like a billy cart. Couldn't be happier with the purchase, particularly given the price and condition it's in. I will post pics soon if anyone is interested and looking forward to contributing to forum when the mods begin. The forum has already helped me out with the turbo oil line filter removal!
  17. Just a quick question about the rotation of the filter fitting on reassembly. Does it matter which way the filter holes are facing in comparison to the oil line? I assume the inside of the banjo bolt collects the oil from all 4 holes? Please say it does because I just put mine back together and paid absolutely no attention to its rotation.
